  1. I think most folk would agree. Arguments, deviation from the topic and joking around are part of what makes forums fun but when it gets to the point where someone posts the witty retort... "You are a cunt" (with genuine intent) then in the words of Duncan Bannatyne, I'm out.

I'm not saying don't have a laugh, i post some really stupid threads which I intend to be funny, fair doo's! But there are posts where the thread just turns into a page of genuine insults. What's the point in that?

  2. The slagging matches were a lot worse back in the days when that stripey fella was nockin about on here. He'd voice an opinion (fair enough) in a manner that he must have known full well would cause offence/provoke backlash (not cool) then immediately claim innocence and intellectual superiority (just plain annoying). At which point the original topic would be playing second string to angry pedantry and personal attacks I'm not the most prolific poster but back then i didn't even bother at all.

This is what I mean, a lot of threads (there are obviously exceptions) go on for hundreds of posts, but mostly the actual topic only talked about for 5 or 6 posts, then the rest is mostly personal attacks, threats and general shite. Maybe I am exaggerating slightly, but you know what I mean.

  3. Just came onto the Forum as I do every morning, and am everday day finding more and more that threads are becoming incredibly personal, aggressive and totally ridiculous.

On the most part it always seems to be the same people, and it's getting pretty much beyond a joke! I realize I post the odd stupid or unneccesary post, but it's mainly to have a laugh with mates, but it seems to me that there are a load of people who are only on the forum to cause shit.

    Lets relax and chill out.

  4. Just wondering has anyone else on here had problems with sellers not replying too PM's?

A couple of time's this week ive PM'd guy's about gear theyre selling and they dont reply.

Im not a time waster if i enquire then im genuinely interested.

So if you not wanting to sell or reply to an interested buyer WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT ADVERTISING????????????

    :swearing:

    Good shout! Totally agree

  5. I have 1 seating ticket for ACDC ticket at Manchester for sale.

Have been let down, badly by a "mate". Sell the ticket for 40. Group of 3 of us have hotel rooms and transport organized if you wanted to travel with us and make up the 4, but would happily just sell the ticket

Know it's a long shot but PM me if interested.

    Cheers

  6. Just wanted to say how well we were treated at Moshulu on sat night, the whole experience was brilliant. Really wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who helped out with all the organization and stuff, in the run up and on the night. And in particular to Nick from taylored sound who was spot on in helping us, and giving us a great sound.

  7. To be honest, it sounds like it does have some degree of potential, but like I say - a monthly thing rather than weekly is the way forward.

Would they not be more willing to be more flexible if it was indeed only monthly? A proper dedicated night without any quiz / private function distractions..?

Not at all, they don't want to just do it once a month, they are not willing to be at all flexible, it is Tigers way or the Highway, but hey it is there club. Basically it seems a case of Tiger being totally dead on a Friday, apparently they normally have less than 100 through the door most Fridays, although I have nothing to back this up with apart from what I've heard. They don't give a toss about helping bands or anything, they just want to make some what they think are easy bucks. The have made it perfectly clear they want only Indie bands, and on every Friday. Also, if they were to bin the private hire on the Friday nights they would be writing off a fair bit of money I'd expect.

  8. That's fair enough if they're putting on an 'indie rock' night.

This is what I had to say in the announcements thread:

"If you want my suggestion, lower the amount of gigs the venue puts on to one a month. Make it a big event, three GOOD local bands and you should pull more of a crowd / get a better reputation than if you put on three shitty bands every Friday that only their mates come along to."

However if the acoustics were as shit as you said then maybe it's a gash idea in whole.

Who was actually putting the gigs on? I mean who did the search for the bands and was there someone promoting it? Was there any checks done on the bands or could any old shit play if they were willing?

It would perhaps work better if they had someone who knew what they were doing organising the shows and a sound engineer who wasn't just a DJ.

Well initially they were going to do it themselves, but when they found out how hard it could be they tried to get in a few people who basically said they were not interested, then they asked me, and I said yes. But at the time I was under the impression that they were willing to be a lillte more flexible than they actually are or will be

  9. Can you elaborate further? What was so bad about it? I was really quite excited about this prospect.

Where do I start? Well, it seems that Tiger hire out the hall from 7-10 on a Friday, so we had to go soundcheck from 6 on the Thursday, but the sound guy is just one of the DJ's and really doesn't know what he is doing, (Although in fairness he is very keen and worked really hard to please), so we were there till well after 10. But it didn't matter as the Quiz that was in before used the PA without really knowing what they were doing, and messed up the settings anyway. They also wont take in a lighting rig to save costs, so we played pretty much in darkness.

The room itself is awful, the roof is far too low, and the acoustics are terrible, it is probably one of the worst sounds I have ever had!

Not only this but the management don't want bands on till 12, so would mean final acts won't be on till gone 2! They played really shitty pop/dance music, not the rock stuff that was promised, so pretty much everyone who came left before we played.

And finally they tried to cut our fee from the price we had agreed. I had real hopes that this could be great, but the hierarchy have an idea how they want it to work on there terms without considering what live music fans would appreciate, and wont take heed to how it actually could work.

They don't want metal, funk, well really any band that doesn't play Indie, I'm sorry but it is just destined to fail. I feel bad for pulling out after just one gig, but the writing is already on the wall.

  10. Did anyone go to Tiger Tiger on Friday night for this new event?

Would you go back? Would you consider playing there?

We played the first night on Friday, and definately won't be going back. And I suggest that anyone who gets an invite to really think hard about accepting it.

I had initially agreed to help out with bookings etc, but after Friday I certainly wont be.

  11. Now that I think about it tiger tiger got in touch with one of our staff about us putting on their band nights, But this was maybe 2/3 months ago.

It will be decent having a venue of almost same size as moshulu in aberdeen accepting indie bands.

I think it could be a big bonus for the Aberdeen music scene. Have had a lot of interest from bands, so here's hoping

  12. That should be pretty decent if it takes off,

    When do they start?

    Any bands been confirmed?

It starts Friday 27/3 (Tomorrow night). Sanctuary are playing on the opening night, with support.

Still working on bands for the following week, this has been thrown on me at pretty short notice. So if anyone wants a short notice gig, let me know ASAP.

  13. I wouldn't loan Tunk anything again Al.

Still waiting for that butt plug back he borrowed last weekend :D

Bri, you must have been mistaken, you never lent me anything!

And why exactly do you have Butt plugs? Are all our suspicions confirmed?

  14. After a statement like that, the chances of anyone 'lending' you their mic's is about nil...

Well yes I agree that post was a little misleading! I in fact lent the mic's to someone else and never checked them when I got them back. I have since opened the case for the first time in about 2 months and 2 of them are in pieces.

Thankfully anyone who knows me will realise I generally look after my gear, but on this occassion I've been let down by someone who I trusted, lesson learnt!

And as a matter of fact, someone has actually helped me out :finger:

  15. I have a gig on Friday and was due to be using my drum Mic's, but unfortunately after digging them out they appear to be fucked!

Any idea's where I can get cheap hire? Or does anyone have a spare set I could hire for the night?

    Cheers

    Tunker

  16. We'd be interested in playing one night once you get the go ahead. If you want to sample the goods... come down the night we host this Friday in the Tunnels if you are free: Funk Machine Presents, you'll see what we're like. It's a funk and hip hop night, kind of the flip side of a rock/indie night!

Think a summer gig would suite us best as we're pretty much booked up until then. We wouldn't charge you an arm and a leg but we'd expect a respectable amount if you are doing a flat rate, if you are charging entry perhaps a percentage of the door taking, we do this for the bands who play at our nights and find that it is a good incentive for advertising/spreading the word/bringing along as many people as possible.

Let me know if you can make it down and we can chat on Friday.

Oh yeah, we play original funk, not a cover band.

I will definately look into it, I think it would be very cool! I am playing myself on Friday unforunately so can't get down this week. But it's certainly something I'll speak to the management about.

  17. No funk bands then???

Ah now I never said that! he he. I haven't been given any real no go areas to be perfectly honest, I think anything that would pull a crowd I would be allowed to consider! The big problem certainly at the moment would be the question of finances, and how much bands would be looking for as payment!
