cool. except that nobody uses disk anymore. I think there's a mark 2 version that uses CD ROM, would be worth it.
  2. I'm thinking you probably are gonna be using ten tabs on a browser running Flash. Try to get 'discrete' graphics rather than 'integrated' because that means the system RAM is shared with the video card which generally is shit. 3GB saounds good for basic operationt hese days. I'd make sure you get the 64 bit version of Windows 7 just because 32 bit will be fucking dead in about 2-3 years.
  3. I got mine in '07 and those 2GB DDR2 sticks were expensive back then. Next build (probably 2013 the way my fianance are) will have SSD solid state mofos

that would be the very, very rare thing that can't be obtained on ebay for love nor money.

Kind of. It was actually a very capable and technically advanced machine but it didn't have many serious killer apps and the PC box style version of it was extremely expensive. It was great for home animation, video titling and music though. I was well into using sound tracker software back in the day. It was a sequencer and sampler all in one for way less than even the entry level Akai kit.

Remember, it;'s all about the games, the plastic box that you play them on doesn't mean anything. although obviously Amiga > ST you'd have to be an utter cretin to think otherwise lol.
  7. Yeah, I run X64 Vista on 2 as well and it's reasonable but four is probably recommended. But it seems like plenty of new laptops are coming in with 3GB standard. I thought that was down to the new Intel architecture using triple channel so you need 3 X 1GB modules but I'm seeing dual pentium systems in this configuration which is confusing me.

lol, this leads us neatly into a pet hate of mine. fanboyism! Any Call of Duty: Black Ops thread will have some speng come in and say lol this is shit get BC2 instead and even then if you're playing it on xbox you r a n00b lol.
  9. Assuming a 64bit operating system and triple channel RAM, 3GB is a realistic minimum but I'm not really up on the latest kit to be honest.
  10. Good to know. Yeah, BTW provided broadband is pretty much the same with any provider, as is line rental because it's all ultimately BT's.
  11. Weird, it seems o2 aren't in my neighbourhood according to their site. Not in their LLU enabled network anyway. That's whittled it down nicely then.
  12. Ah, I wish I could get Virgin but they lease capacity off BT Wholesale for my exchange so I would get pretty much the same servcice as my current provider (Plusnet) And Plusnet aren't bad at all but BTW charge a lot for their remarkably mediocre backhaul.
  13. I'm looking to get an LLU enabled provider in the new year. Seems my choices are Sky, o2/Be or TalkTalk, given I've already ruled out AOL (lol) and Orange on reputation alone. Sky seem excellent from the speedtest results I've seen peeps posting but I'd imagine most folks go with them due to the telly package which I'm not interested in. So, anyone have a recommendation or have a bad experience with Sky? I think I'm on the Denburn exchange.
  14. I admit it, I'm too wet to sea this through.
  15. Minnow backing trout but let me mullet over before we get down to whiting. Maybe we should put squids down on fish event?
  16. Yeah? Think you're manatee enough to say that to any of us in person? I trout it.
  17. Rathen's mistake was explaining himself. Now his standards will be be put under extreme scrutiny and any failure to apply even judgement will prove his utter hypocrisy. FEEL THE PAIN OF THE MOD, destined to be aloof from the rest of us.
  18. ffs, it's one of the most common elements in the universe if by 'universe' you mean gas giants and proper stars.
  19. I've heard that whaling is cruel and unnecessary but there is an oil extracted from whale's brains that is needed for lubricating moving parts on deep space probes and other machinery operating in extremely cold environments. Can anyone confirm this or is it exactly as suspect as half the 'knowledge' I seem to have acquired over the years.
  20. nah, I can't even get a semi unless I see the animation with her trussed up and covered in the spooge of 3 alien demongods.
