    Comedians

We closed the door on the previous comedy club at Snafu, at the tail end of last year. Five or so months ago, we decided to re-launch the comedy club, getting some great guys onboard to do the bookings and comparing (Andrew Learmonth, Jason Murphy and Gus Tawse) - we've been working really hard over the past five months to really create a comedy club which is worth going to every week - we think we're finally getting somewhere - and we most definitely couldn't have done it without the comedy three!! The fringe preview shows last month were a complete success, which will hopefully contributed to the night as a whole - atmosphere, laughs, comedians etc etc... We also do pre-show discount on food in Five on a Tuesday night, just quote comedy when asking for your bill. You may even get a sneaky free entry ticket to the comedy show if you ask nicely

  5. SNAFU COMEDY CLUB - EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL PREVIEW FEATURING RAYMOND MEARNS & TONY LITTLER // TUESDAY 07 JULY // SNAFU ************************************************************************************************** PLEASE NOTE THE ORIGINAL SCHEDULED HEADLINER KEVIN BRIDGES HAS CANCELLED, AND HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH RAYMOND MEARNS. TICKET HOLDERS WILL BE REFUNDED VIA TICKETWEB. RAYMOND MEARNS Raymond Mearns Comedian & Actor Kicking off the Fringe Festival previews at the Snafu Comedy club is Scottish stand up stalwart Raymond Mearns. Easily one of the funniest and most highly regarded comedians in Britain Mearns will be delivering this weeks headline set and is sure to elicit more than a chuckle or two. A sell out show at last years Edinburgh Fringe and the Glasgow Comedy Festival and numerous radio and tv appearances, including a scene stealing part in the Rab C Nesbitt Christmas special see a comic at the very top of his game. If you like funny and laughing then Raymond is your man, but if youre very easily offended then its probably best to stay away as this is the man that Billy Connolly said of [he] knows how to swear properly. And Billy Connoly has reason to worry as one Glasgow paper called Mearns the next big yin. TONY LITTLER Tony Littler takes no prisoners in his show so if your looking for political correctness you've definitely come to the wrong place, if your looking for a good old laugh and sing song your in for a treat. This show is not for the faint hearted. ************************************************************************************************** Drinks deals at the bar in Snafu and there's even pre-show discount for meals in Five on a Tuesday night... just call 01224 595585 and quote 'Comedy' to get 10% off your meal. 6. SNAFU COMEDY CLUB - EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL PREVIEW FEATURING KEVIN BRIDGES & TONY LITTLER // TUESDAY 07 JULY // SNAFU ************************************************************************************************** KEVIN BRIDGES Kevin Bridges started stand up shortly after his 17th birthday, since his first gig he has shot through the ranks of the Scottish comedy scene. He reguarly works all over Scotland, most notably at the Stand comedy clubs in Glasgow and Edinburgh, where he is a regular headliner, support and resident compere of his own monthly show. Kevin also had a highly successful Edinburgh festival debut where he featured in ''The best of Scottish comedy'' and was a finalist in Channel 5 / Paramount's ''So you think your funny? 2005'' competition. ''The guy was brilliant, an exceptional young comedian. A superstar in the making'' One4review.com ''Young comedy prodigy'' The Guardian ''His confidence is astonishing. His patter is crude, natural, truthful and hilarious'' Sunday Herald TONY LITTLER Despite having only been performing comedy since 2005, Mark Nelson has firmly established himself on the comedy circuit by scooping the coveted Scottish Comedian of the Year title in 2006. His mix of dark humour, cutting observations and clever one-liners mean Nelson has become a solidly consistent and excellent stand-up to be reckoned with. His talents are so highly thought of he charted at number 62 in The List magazine's 100 Hottest Scottish Stars of 2006. Mark, 26, triumphed at the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year competition in September last year at a showcase event in Glasgow 's Old Fruitmarket in front of an esteemed panel of judges and an audience of over 300. In winning the contest he had to see off the efforts of comedians with vastly more experience and following from around the country. With an effortless, likeable manner on stage and confident delivery, Nelson often has audiences laughing at things they know they really shouldn't be laughing at. He has recently performed his first ever one man show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival, a show which sold out 3 weeks in advance. He has also recently supported Andrew Maxwell. ************************************************************************************************** Drinks deals at the bar in Snafu and there's even pre-show discount for meals in Five on a Tuesday night... just call 01224 595585 and quote 'Comedy' to get 10% off your meal.
