  1. She's looking the wrong way?
  2. Can't remember if I reviewed this somewhere up-thread, but it's certainly a very entertaining film.
  3. I bet he's feeling even more like Buddy Holly now.
  4. Blockbusters presenter Raphael Ravenscroft is no more: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/21/raphael-ravenscroft-baker-street-gerry-rafferty-saxophonist-dies
  5. I applaud his loyalty, but what do Aha have to do with it?
  6. The end is nigh and he's not holding on: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/20/reggae-singer-john-holt-dies-aged-69-veteran
  7. I agree. He played okay in the last game against West Brom and at least links up play well even if he's not scoring. Better than BalotelleeeEEE! http://www.offthepost.info/blog/2014/10/video-balotelli-miss-causes-hilarious-martin-tyler-voice-break-qpr-2-3-liverpool/
  8. QPR - Liverpool was pretty spectacularly bad but entertaining. Zamora, Vargas, Sterling and Coutinho provided the only significant quality - every other outfield player was terrible. Liverpool's full backs were as bad as the centre-backs. Enrique made three mistakes on the first QPR goal. And then there's Glen Johnson. Not too sure why they dropped Manquillo, who has mostly been okay so far. I guess Moreno was injured. I suppose at least Balotelli can say he's getting chances. He doesn't look remotely like scoring though and seems to just mess up every good move by being selfish or immobile. Or missing an open goal. They should play Borini ahead of him - that's how bad he is.
  9. My favourite restaurant in Glasgow is Thairiffic. They know that punning is the route to success. http://www.thairifficrestaurant.com/index.htm
  10. Excellent punning. You always know you're onto a winner with a punning company name.
  11. '71 Thriller set in the titular year in the non-Polish part of Ireland. A young soldier gets left to find his way back to barracks through the hostile streets of Belfast. A really excellent and tense film that thoroughly gets across how much of a war zone this was at the time. If there's a point to be made it's maybe that the real divisions were between those who got caught up in the Troubles and those who sought to add to them. *****
  12. With Chopra playing for them I find it disappointing that their badge has an elephant on it and not a fox in a box. Having said that, I like how David James looks as though he's wearing a towel round his waist as if he's just come out of the shower.
  13. Surprisingly, I've never heard this album. It's surprising because their first album, Personal Best, is easily one of my favourite albums of the 90s. I listened to it about a week ago and it still sounds incredible.
  14. Have been listening a lot today to the debut album by Honeyblood - a splendid new duo from Glasgow. Thrilling indie pop with excellent, slightly '90s sounding' guitar hooks and harmonies. Cracking stuff with pretty much all the songs being good to great and at least some suggestion that band might develop in interesting ways in the future. In Pitchfork style I'm giving it 8.2/10.
  15. I guess some of these are familiar, but the combination of so many cat jump fails really enhances the comedy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QScxSMWOT-c
  16. Debo deado: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29348946
  17. Extra time was better than normal time. Suso is very good - he should start the next game. Also, Jordan Rossiter scored and, not really to my surprise, was probably Liverpool's best player in normal time. They might as well stick him in the team as well even though he's only about 14. Mignolet should have saved at least a couple but everyone seemed to be hitting them pretty well. Even Kolo Toure scored a penalty. That's how ridiculous it was.
  18. Liverpool beat Middlesbrough 14-13 on penalties. Ridiculous.
  19. New Andy Stott album forthcoming: http://pitchfork.com/news/56788-andy-stott-announces-new-album-faith-in-strangers-shares-violence/
  20. Today I'm unable to listen to anything other than this:
  21. Man United Lol seems to be quite a problematic thing to say for some people: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/21/mario-balotelli-racist-abuse-manchester-united
  22. Does this work in the pop music thread? Certainly sounds like a classic 80s pop hit, only from now: Whole album sounds decent:
