  1. Why the solid state ones? Everyone seems to go for the valve models.
  2. Please repeat this mantra until it has the desired effect. 'I must gift this to britheguy' Nice guitar. I faniced one earlier this year but computer said No!
  3. Well that's made my day! has to be one of the funniest posts I seen since the "I don't drink for up to a week before a gig" one. A big pipe should do the trick....but I don't recommend you do it as it's bad for your health.
  4. Sounds like the fuse right enough. It could be that your valves are just about ready to pack in, this sometimes causes the amp to cut out, fizzle etc, So try the fuse on the amp, but be prepared to buy new valves. Classic 30's are great amps and worth getting going again.
  5. It goes without saying that both Jimi and SRV were truely great guitarists, I should have got into them before I did. I agree as follows Jimi - Little Wing SRV - Voodoo Chile, got on DVD live somewhere...guitar bliss!
  6. Cheers Dave. And thanks to everyone for the advice.
  7. That's a good idea about not using one at home. I'm a great believer in thinking that when you play in a band situation you can get away with a slighty lower tone quality due to the rest of the band. However in the house you have more time to listen to what you really sound like. This is where the leads would come in to their own I suppose.
  8. I've been thinking about getting one of those guitar-bug things. However I've heard both good and bad about them. Has anyone got some advice on these things, or other such like things. Or would I be better sticking with the good old trip hazard, better known as a guitar lead? If so which would be decent leads to go for. I use Planet Waves just now. The ones with the different colour plugs for amp and guitar!!! cheers
  9. I've used lace sensors, their pretty good. Talking about pickups, I going to get my Gibson Les Paul P90 rewound soon, and a new set of pickups for my tele. I'm getting them from wizard pickups. He's a really nice guy, and local to boot (Mintlaw area) He'll do about anything you want with pickups. Drop him line and he'll sort you out with a great deal. andy@wizardpickups.co.uk
  10. Correct about the volute, but this damage sounds as though it is not your normal, if you could call it that, gibson headstock damage. It could be that the tuner was a little loose and when the user tune up time and again, it had caused the tuner post to pull back on the leading side of the hole, which in turn would put more pressure on that area, causing a stress raiser. This might have caused a small crack in the finish or the wood (hopefully not). This might be the small crack migrating out away from the hole. Should get it looked at though.
  11. Are you sure it's the wood that's cracked, or is it the finish? Have you dropped it in the past? I agree with the other guy, if it is cracked then it is a serious job. However, I would think that the shipping etc to get it back to the maker would make is quite expensive to do. I've never heard of this before, which leads me to think it might be the finish rather than the wood itself. It might be worth get an expert to determine this first. If it's the finish I don't think it would be that big a deal. The first Relic'd V
  12. I know it's not the same, but I've got a Zvex SHO. I quailty of this pedal is very good, cute to boot. If you like what you've heard...go for it. Where are you going to get it from?
  13. The Kinks actually cut their speaker cones to get that sound.
  14. I'm planning on buying a big bag of talent;) Nah, the drum stuff is my friends gear.
  15. I have a boss PSA 240 running into the following using a daisy chain; Boss TU-2 Budda Wah Crowther Hot Cake Jekyll & Hyde Boss RV-3 I've not had any problem with this for nearly a year of use. No noise apart from the normal humming from my AC30. With my Marshall I've no noises at all.
