no Jazz or stupid, boring, metal, double kick pedal action. Why do you not teach these types of music Biz?.....I think some of this type of stuff is ok, but would be very hard to play well....is this the reason?

I've 3 les pauls and 1 strat....that tells a story for me. You can turn the vol down on the Les Paul and get a nice clean tone. I think people tend to have the vol on their guitars full up too much of the time, which does not help. Regarding the action on a LP, I've no problem at all. Strats are great guitars but you should buy what you feel good with, and for me that's a Les Paul. SG's are ace and very much in at the minute, so expect to pay top dollar for one. For 500 quid you would be better going for a nice Tokia LP. Of course you could get away from the household names and go for something different. Robin or Moon both are great guitars for that money if you can find them, plus you won't see every other band at the gig with one. cheers

Nice guitar, very understated, but handy all the same. I was thinking of getting a strat type guitar. Could be interested at that price. Alas not near ABZ at present, will be in a week though.

Hi, we are looking for a singer to join the 3 of us in a band. The music we cover varies from Sex Pistols - Ramones etc through to Zepp. We have gigs lined up for April, but our singer has had to pull out at the last minute. We have been playing together for years and have plenty material to play, but would be willing to listen to input from a new partner in the band. We are older guys...ie over 35yrs, but not fuggy-duddys (is that the term) We have a PA etc. Thanks for looking Brian

I don't think you need to be very good at playing to be in a good band. It's how the listener hears and enjoy the performance. Ramones is a good example. The Who were good players that played together very well.

To Charliesays; Thanks for the support. I thought it got of to a shakey start, but got better as the night wore on. It is a large hall to play in, and can be a pain as it looks half full. I always prefered to play in the lounge. The hall is handy for when the folk start to mosh though. Got a call from a couple of folk from Blairgowrie that came up to see us...they were still singing the songs today on the drve back, so it can't be that bad.

First time I've seen the Upstarts. Good stuff. I enjoy this 'back to seeing bands' thing I'm doing...been away far too long. aKa sKa.....Have to say that's the best set I've seen in ages. I think you are on to a winner there.

Too much gutars, not enough hands. Gee! I thought I was the only one who bought loads of guitars, just because they might slightly differ from another one. It looks as cool as can be, but not for doing my Who numbers.
