  1. Nah lets cut to the chase. Strung Out. That's the band you have to hear.
  2. Oh and just to clarify, we have done quite a bit more than what you have stated there but hey...call me picky.
  3. I have to say that...this is a great post.
  4. Again, I'll said what's been said in another thread on these boards recently: So, because I'm in a band that automatically means I can't have an opinion. So I suppose because fucking Avenged Sevenfold are A million times more successful than my band I can't say I think they're god-awful? Enough people on here are saying that Metallica ARE shit and not that they think they're shit...so...are you jumping on them? I think my point is cast-iron here compadre. Various members of my own band LOVE mastodon and tool, I just dont like them at all. I think that tol is self indulgent, weirdo stoner music and Mastodon is tuneless, lumbering dirge. Big deal. You like Sigur Ros...I'd rather have iron filings put down my urethra than listen to that arty drivel that sounds like it should be on the boring hippie section of a crap surfing DVD. What if I wasn't in a band? Would my opinion be automatically void. Come on Phil. If you're chasing an argument there is plenty more idiots on this site that can easily be picked on because they cant back up their statements.
  5. Calm down!! I hate them both.
  6. At least he is in a good band...or at least a band that was good. More than those can claim
  7. To be fair there are many great drummers who aren't that good at solos if at all. He has never been wicked at solos. That wasn't what we were talking about.
  8. What an awesome case you present.
  9. Wow...that was WELL funny. You go to the same comedy writer as Jan Deal there do ya? Anyway, that's pretty much a myth about Lars Ulrich being unable to keep time. Always has been. Find me some live footage where he doesnt play solid if not awesomely well. ANyway, it's pretty easy to keep in time when playing the Pixies and Breeders drum parts. I also feel that Metallica never suffered without Cliff. I mean he was a legend and taught the band so much espedcially James (by his own admission) regarding the use of melodies etc BUT Jason was a huge part of Metallica in a different way. He was very much the spirit of the band for me in alot of ways and one of the more down to earth in the heady Black album era! Not to mention a fantastic bass player.
  10. Haha...I agree and disagree. I think that Vulgar is far far far superior to Cowboys!! I agree that Gold Against the Soul is better. I'm one of these people that really doesnt get why people worship the Holy Bible record. I think you just have to be someone that was/is REALLY into the manics to understand what they were doing on that record. It's lost on me to be fair.
  11. Load is an awesome record and Re-Load has some awesome and not so awesome songs on it. I loved that...they were growing older gracefully. Those albums were classy sounding and kinda hard rocky/metal way that only Metallica could do. St ANger was trying to prove they were vital when just being Metallica was vital enough. They went wrong because they stopped doing what came naturally.
  12. Ok, perhaps I should've been clearer. I didn't actually mean you. Im usually pretty direct and would've actually said if i meant you. I just meant that you get people who say similar things to you and you find they are kids ok? I apologise for the misunderstandinmg and I can see why you would've picked it up the way you did. My favourite record by them is the Black album but I got into them in '88 with AJFA. To be fair, I'm not sure what relevance the fact that you have met them has on your statement BUT thats amazing that you have. You should tell me more.
  13. Riiiiighhht and the Breeders and the Pixies are soooo much better?? HAHAHAHA! Whatever! YOU LOSE! Threads like this make me chuckle. It's when people say stuff like "Metallica is only good upto Justice!" and you find the person is too young to have been into them around that time or anywhere near that time and got into them through the black album or "Load."
  14. Oooohhh. Look at Jayne getting into the spirit of Aberdeen-music.com! unprovoked insults struck from no yards.
  15. You know whats REALLY fucking gay. (this will stir up a hornets nest.) The fact that five years ago EVERY OTHER POST would include Kirk Hammet. Dont ask me why and you know im right BUT he seems to be a really unfashionable name to list now. I bet more of you are influenced by him than you think (especially the guys who have grown up listening to Metallica.) He is probably my favorite guitarist. Think of some the riffs he has written for Metallica. Think about his solo's. They are amazing. Granted he seems incapable of laying down solos live now and cops out heaps which seems to just be lack or practice. Think about it though...some of the most memorable solos are his. Such a tasteful player with exactly the right mix of tech and taste whilst creating solos that you look forward to in a song. The "The Unforgiven" solo. The "Blackened" solo. All the solos in "Fade To Black" The "Creeping Death" solo The "Bleeding Me" solo The "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" solo The "Struggle within" Solo The "Dyers Eve" Solo The "The Memory Remains" solo. There is HEAPS more that are truly great and memorable solos. Much more than any other metal bands leads! Have a think...I think you'll agree!
  16. Dont post on it...only read it
  17. Probably best not to be so forthcoming with info like that. Oh and regards to this thread: Like i'd offer up that kind of information to people on this forum...EL OH EL!
  18. I will as soon as a)You make ANYONE laugh with your CRAP humour b)You say something not INSANELY boring. Deal?
  19. Ok, witty sarcasm aside... It's true though. Most people like every album they buy. Generally you buy an album because you a)like the artist anyway b)have heard it/some of it to know you like therefore buy it. Remember, I said GENERALLY! You have people who are basically listing every fucking record they bought...whats the point in that? If we stuck to one it makes people think. It creates further discussion rather than listening to someone witter on about ten albums they bought this year. Challenge yourself and what opthers may think of you by NAMING ONE! And dont even have "honourable mentions." That's Gay. This year has been an awesome year for me album wise and it would be hard to do, which is what makes going through all the albums you loved this year more of a challenge to bring it down to one.
  20. This thread is crap unless it has strict rules. I.e. ONE album.
