  1. So quick story for ya. Well..after reading this thread, it reminded me that Alex (MMW bassist) loves Rippers (the better looking sister of the Grabber) For some reason he has always wanted a 1978 one. I thought "I'll be nice and have a look for him." I figured my search would prove fruitless because they are extremely rare. You can get an epiphone one but hey...let's be serious here huh? The gibson ones stopped being made in '83. ANYWAY, i had a quic scan on Ebay and lo and behold, there was ONE!?!?!?! And it was a 1978 in the natural finish! I got in touch with Alex immediately who called the guy in Yorkshire. Apparently the guy is an older guy and is selling stuff off as he is going deaf. Alex got it for...wait for it....340!!! Its in super sweet nick. So that's now a Music man stingray, three Warwicks and a Gibson Ripper that he has in his arsenal. Beast oh beast!!!
  2. It's ACTUALLY the highlight of your year isn't it?
  3. No Paradise Lost, Anathema, My Dying Bride or Novembers Doom
  4. pompous and arrogant...all the things you want in a frontman then?
  5. Worst line up in absolutely years.
  6. Triggers dont make you sound faster than you are.
  7. We are doing three dates with Rise With The Fallen over Saturday, Sunday and Monday 17th, 18th and 19th. On Sunday the 18th we play Kef. It is our first show in a little while in Aberdeen so for those interested, please come down and enjoy a bill with 7/8 bands. Kicks off at 4pm.
  8. I was just asking you to back up your opinion with reasoning, that's all. No need to run so scared...
  9. I once got into (more) trouble at school because I said that I was from the school of thought that the only thing a careers advisor can advise you to be is a careers advisor. They didn't like that. SHINFO!
  10. I've been saying this for years. Of course when I say it then it becomes a huge thread. That's because when I post everyone goes to see what it is. I court controversy. I'm really the only thing that matters or that people care about on this site in all honesty. It should be renamed "Aberben-music.com." I do happen to think : ( are shit and I'm not a jealous person anyway. I usually just get myself into positions where most people are jealous of me. This is just because I'm awesome and my far reaching influence knows no bounds. Of course this gets up peoples noses but isnt that a sign of success. I think I could be bigger than god. That's my next aim.
  11. Hmmm. I disagree. You just have to look for it. Sylosis are an AWESOME metal band for a start from the UK. Cry For Silence are another one. Try our label mates Thieves, as well. They are damn good. Also, Hog, You're so wrong about the MH/Trivium comparisons because Machine head had bits like that well over ten years ago.
  12. Thing about TTAOE was that it wasn't instant at all but is a great album. Very brooding and dark. You have to work hard with it.
  13. Cool...sounds good...I shall give that a go this evening. Thanks.
  14. haha, possibly huh? I dunno, I might go into atmosphere as they are always helpful in there. Yeah I used to take my own cable with me but i just tended to break them. If I went into Captain Toms, would someone there be able to tell the mics were working ok by looing at the signal?
  15. The chances are it is leads...alot of these places have terrible leads it seems. Where should I take my mics then as I'd like them both checked out? Thanks for the info as well!
  16. Perhaps some of the live sound engineers here can help. Ok, I own and use two mic's at the moment. I have a Standard Sm58 as my back up and my main is a Beta 58. I love Shure and don't need anyone going on about Sennheiser thankyou very much...my mind is made up on Shure Anyway, I got the Beta about 6 months ago as reading reviews etc it pretty much got the thumbs up everytime and most said it was just like the normal 58 but about 3db loudr and didnt need as much playing with EQ wise. I have been delighted with it. However, on our last wee jaunt down south we played Cheltenham and when we were soundchecking Dan was wayyyy louder and was using the clubs standard 58. The sound guy couldn't understand it then what we did was switched to my old standard 58 and the level was right up where it should be. The Beta was still putting out a signal and hasn't taken any knocks or anything. The sound guy was a nice guy and we chatted and he said that sometimes certain mics just dont go with certain PA's. He said it's unexplainable and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. Id used teh Beta in Brighton the night before and it was fine. Anyone got any ideas?
  17. I have to say...Pretty weak line up isn't it lads? Just throwing it out there...It actually could be the weakest you've ever had huh? n.b. not meaning to be a cock even though it'll come accross that way.
  18. Jesus. That is scary thinking about those children o_O
  19. Definitely. I totally agree. I feel that Frosty Jack's reply to this idea was weak.
  20. Haha nice try. Why don't you come to a show and perhaps buy one. We have all those overheads to pay for dont you know? Can't be giving away CD's.
