  6. That'd be the one. I had an image of George Street in my head, and Holburn came out my fingers..
  7. Please don't buy from a shop, save your wallet. Ebuyer.com and Dabs.com are your friend. If you insist on a shop in Aberdeen, don't go to Comet/Dixons/Currys/PC World. Get yourself into Gem Computers off the castlegate, and the one at the top of Holburn street, which I forget the name of (Grampian Computing?).
  8. I hope someone better equiped at explaining this comes into this thread. I'll assume you live in aberdeen. ADSL is the only (outside of slow and expensive leased lines and satelite) option for broadband in this fair city. ADSL is delivered over copper wiring (ie, your phone line). A standard copper telephone line, is simply not capable of delivering those speeds. If you live within about 4KM of your local telephone line (cable length, not as the crow flies) you can take in the whole range of ADSL services, upto 8Mb on activated exchanges (this is, as yet, unavailable in aberdeen). In order to get anything faster, you need ADSL2 (such as Be Internet are starting to provide in southern England). Even ADSL2 is only capable of speeds of up to 24Mb, and this is only within a cable length radius of about 1.5km. There are a few scenarios to explain away your mad fifa download speed: 1. You are in a university (not Aberdeen or RGU) with a fast enough speed to achieve what you're talking about. 2. You have an optical fibre internet connection, which isn't available in this country 3. You're mistaken, and rather than download fifa you've downloaded a fake file. 4. You're a liar. Edit: The fastest (readily avaible) DIRECT ethernet networking cables are 1Gb. And more regularly 100mb.
  9. Just when you thought the bible couldn't get any better http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000883062068/
  10. If you use scart...hook from freeview to video to tv. Record. If you're using old style cables...hook from freeview to video to tv. Record.
  11. But that ACTUALLY happened to a guy I know...well his mates sister
  12. Damn, I guess I was thrown off with the "supports msaccess" in the opening post Fasthost certainly offer mysql. Also, dreamhost.com have a good offer (that's still on)...sign up for their "Crazy Domain Insane" plan at http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html Use coupon code 888 for 80% off or use this one: 777 for a year of hosting for $9.99
  13. Fantastic, reminds me of a picture I saw in FHM (or Zoo or Nuts) recently... (Kangaroo. Snake.)
  14. What I meant is "that's where the strength of this particular myth comes from". I was actually just agreeing with you
  15. Unlike Holly, my grandparents are not lovely. They fit into the same bracket as EVERY old person, they demand respect because of their longer years. Most of them are undereducated (this is mainly women I'm talking about - I'm not saying women are stupid, just that up until recent years, men were educated further on a greater basis) and haven't had a steady job their whole lives, are now living on state pension and using free bus services.
  16. Yes, which isn't the category the press is trying to wash him in. "Look what this racist bastard said"..
  17. You could post up a copy of your config.php file (remembering to blank out any DB passwords). I could scan that for anything. Other than that, have a word with fasthosts.
  18. You started your sentance with "to be fair"...the modern replacement for "but but but. let me explain"
  19. I don't know if you were just reiterating or your missed my post... anyway http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/pinprick.asp
  20. From the sound of the error you haven't set up your 'config.php' file up properly with the correct details of your database. However, I've never tried to use MSaccess over mysql. Also, fasthosts (According to their website) offer mysql as standard in both windows and linux shared hosting package. And if you have a dedicated server without mysql, you could just use putty to SSH in and install mysql from there.
