  1. Nice to see you themeing it this time, but you forgot "April Showers" by the Jesus and Mary Chain. Plus, the sun's just come out, so your pessimism was ill-judged
  2. It's true, the reason Coldplay are so successful is because they alienate no-one. Why would you want housewives casually listening to your masterwork? That's what you get when you don't have anything in sound, image or lyrics that is offensive to anyone, that rebels against anything, that has any genuinity. I'm not one of these denim-jacketed critters with some mythical idea of "real music", but when you listen to a rock/pop record, you shold be able to tell that a band is playing. The accompanient to Chris Martin's vocals is such a non-descript veneer, that there is no need for Coldplay to exist as a band. They may as well just be Chris Martin and a producer.
  3. I didn't know established bands put stuff on sites like that. It can only be a good thing, keeping fans occupied with different recordings, without making them buy pointless odd n' sods releases
  4. I like Pink Floyd, but this breaks so many commandments that it must be the work of the Devil (esp. if they play "Money"): 1, never reform; 2, never live on past glories; 3, never play charity events (em, other than benefit gigs for revolutionary popular movevments like the Zapatistas )
  5. Sons and Daughters have come from nowhere and snatched my #1 spot, like the slippery scamps they are
  6. Those 2 together? Sounds interesting, but I don't think your average youth hang-outs stock Johnnie Walker
  7. Who decided on the cause? It's maybe the most worthy for any benefit gig that I've seen
  8. I feel sorry for Chris Martin, because he is so certain that he's an artist who needs to spend months and months making a masterwork, but most of the people who'll hear it buy their albums at Tesco to have a soundtrack for doing the ironing
  9. P.s. I know this is the 3rd time they have played, but they weren't cool the 1st and 2nd time (well i hadn't heard of them ), and by the 3rd time, they will no longer be cool
  10. There's a guy I've seen between McDonalds and Virgin on Union Street, who every working day for 2 weeks I've seen asking for money for his bus fare. The rucksack on his back tells you he's a genuine journeyman, you see.....
  11. I agree Penny is intriguing. The same goes for Swingin' Ryan. I'd also like to take on gridlock in a pub-set debate, as he'd be a challenge
  12. Some people aren't bothered, so long as it's alcholic and carbonated. The only time I have been non-specific was when I walked in to pub, spitting feathers I was, and all they had was Millers or Fosters. I thought that was like choosing which one of your kids to let die
  13. Gin n' Slimline tonic (not my drink, tho i do dabble of a midsummer night)
  14. Never mind, helpful people, I've come across this page: www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17398&highlight=Uter
  15. I've actually never bought you one. I guess if I'm going to get Party Fears Two on Saturday, it'll have to be a Dalmore tomoro
  16. We'll be your fanboys, buying you pints of Budvar and......no, wait, their bar prices are highway robbery
  17. I'm going, but if I experience anything other than total apathy, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Gigs would be so much better if people other than tanked-up loners danced at them
