  1. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick, but it would have been better to exclude me from the "common fan" who bases their opinion on what they read in the Evening Express!!! Anyway, no worries at all min
  2. It's a tough decision he never should have had to make! He just looks like an idiot for going back on his word. A two - faced lier. We've got back issues of the Evening here and it's just beyond comical the shite Jimmy came out with - stuff like "Jamie's finished here." "He won't play again in the first team - only in the reserves." "There's nothing he can say to make amends." "Derek is first choice now." "We will take any offer we get for Jamie in January." It's just a joke - if he'd made a football decision - i.e. Everyone can see Soutar is mince and Clangers is better despite the er, Clangers part, he would never have dropped him. A fine and some stern words would have been better and not to the detriment of the team. What happened was Jimmy was flexing his muscles as a boss without even thinking we had no quality goalkeeper to step in because taking the moral high ground and keeping his integrity was far more important than the club as a whole and the supporters who pay money to see the best possible team every week.
  3. Okay, everyone's got opinions and we're hear to deabate but could do without the sly digs that I don't even watch the games or notice what is happening - that's just taking the piss min. Of course I appreciate the value of quietly effective players - Seve's midfield partner of old Heikennen was one of our best players in recent years. I don't want him to single handedly run the show - I want him to contribute. I want him to be passionate again - I want him to put in crunchers every week - I want him influencing those around him vocally - I want him to stop whinging and take the game by the scruff of the neck - I want him to shoot whenever possible. All things he's done in his previous seasosns (when he's got my "player of the year" award every time) but not this season since being made captain. I certainly don't expect too much from him. He has set his own very high standards at Pittodrie over the last few seasons and anyone who hasn't noticed the decline in his form and attitude this term isn't "noticing what is happening." All I want is Seve to be back to his best for the sake of the team.
  4. For what it's worth I can pinpoint exactly why Aberdeen haven't been performing - Seve. the "captain" all too often fades in and out of games, moans at the refs far too often, struts about the park and is far too quick to pass the buck to his team - mates. Interestingly, I was watching the Everton v Boro game this afternoon and they commented that Gareth Southgate's most difficult decision as a manager was when he left out his Captain, Boateng. I just thought Jimmy would never do such a thing to a "senior player" like Severin and, in my opinion, this sort of thing is the root of evil at the club right now. Some players seem to pick themselves because they are "senior players" or give Jimmy an apple every week or whatever. He's brought in a heap of players and they don't even get a look - in when the established players are failing to even get motivated , let alone put in a decent shift for the team and the paying fans. A lack of commitment is a pure crime at a club like Aberdeen. I don't mind if we get beat 4 - 0 if every player puts in a committed, 100% shift. I'm just not seeing enough of that at the moment, particularly from our leader. The loss of Russell as a leader, not just as a player has really set in and I don't see any leadership on the pitch whatsoever. Mackie was far worse than Derek Young on Saturday. No contest. I mean, Young didn't set the game on fire, but at least he had the ball under control at some time. What's happened to Hart's crossing ability? He has been in decline since day 1 of the season. Also, after Saturday I can see why the United fans were so annoyed at paying a Q.M. for Lee Miller. What a joke. And, finally - I hope Soutar gives Jimmy the biggest hiding of his life when he puts in and hopefully gets his transfer in January. This incident sums up Jimmy more than anything. Deplorable. Plus points: Jamie Smith is slowly finding form again. He really could be our most important player if he is flying. de Visscher got his home debut and some pitch time. He looked alright but needs to adjust. Give him time like Jimmy needs to. Diamond & Considine continue to improve, Zander even back to his near best. This will need to continue if we are to make the top six his season (sounds like a piss - take but I'm serious.) Europe on Thursday! Let's pray for a minor miracle and hope we can scrape it. As long as the same doesn't happen to us as what happened to Hibs, eh?
  5. I've seen heaps like it before, but i liked this one for the inclusion of and interviews with Martin Hannet and Peter Saville. Fascinating stuff, like. Who else saw the hang glider footage and thought "24 Hour Party People!"????!!! Stephen Morris' anecdotes involving Wilson were top drawer - They really set the scene. I really like Paul Morley. His interviews were spot on. Guy I work with had the unfortunate pleasure of detailing the Hacienda flats - unsavoury business. This show was also notable for someone coming accross more pretentious than Wilson (who was eveidently ill when this was filmed) - cannae mind exactly how it went but it was a female journalist who used the expression - "They went in thinking they were making another Maxwell's Silver Hammer and came out with quite possibly their Yellow Submarine." It was amazingly wanky!
  6. From the beginning of the new season up until about last week. Proper annoying when it was in the bottom left as well.
  7. What, is there a table rating how many fans go to the games nowadays? Read what I actually wrote. We are better than the Motherwell fans as we will bring at least treble to Fir Park what they brought up here despite the fact we will be about tenth in the league by 15 December if this blizzard of shit continues.
  8. Fair grounds for ejection there, i would say!
  9. Utter sense, Jim. Exactly what I think. Everyone can see that the lack of consistincey is due to the constant chopping and changing within the team. I mean, he took off Derek Young yesterday (not even worth going into but needless to say he is one of the worst in a long time) and had two out and out wingers on the bench and replaced him with a striker. How can he justify this? Is it because they are shit? If so, why did he sign them? It just doesn't make any sense. We had them for pace at the back and a bit of extra width could have been rewarding for us. And again, a week of retrospectively utter drivel paper talk and Jimmy N. being the idiot this week in saying Egypt is behind us and "this is the start of our season in earnest." It'll be the fans fault again, no doubt. It's so hard being "cherrioed" by 300 Motherwell fans when you just know we are so much better than them.
  10. I'm rapidly losing interest. If the manager is going to make joke team selections and play half the team out of position every week why should the fans bother?
  11. Darren Mackie as well, surely?
  12. Can't see that at all, like. From Wikipedia: In interviews, McGeady and his father have stated he always intended to play for Ireland, due to the family's cultural heritage and Aiden's self-identification. Fine, if he wants to play for Ireland under the Granda rule, let's just leave the bastard to it, know what I mean? What did you expect the SFA to do, beg him to play for us? The self - Identification bit is a clanger, though - He's born and bred in Glasgow, just like his parents, so his self - identification is firmly rooted in Scotland so the Ireland thing is tenous at best. Oh, hang on, he plays for Celtic, doesn't he? Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, this has been discussed before and he's as Scottish as the rest of the lads in the Scotland team. With the exception of Jay McEveley, of course who has no right to ever take the place of a true Scotsman.
  13. ABC News is confirming that tests conducted by Julian Bailes of the Sports Legacy Institute show that Chris Benoits brain was severely damaged at the time he murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. According to the tests his brain resembled that of an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient. Bailes said that the damage was the result of lifetime chronic concussions and head trauma. Chris Benoit was famous for his flying headbutt, which is a lot of stress on the brain each time the maneuver is pulled off. While nothing can justify his actions, this at least helps the coping process. Wow, he fucked his head up from jumping off the top rope head first 5 times a week. Not exactly rocket science to assume one day he'd go a bit messed up in the heid!
  14. For their only Scottish date? Sounds like a great idea.........
  15. The Exhibition Centre gigs just keep coming. I think this is their only Scottish date. Don't know when tickets are on sale but I'm sure there will be loads of folk wanting to go. You get all sorts at Madness gigs
  16. You're spot on. Most would say "I don't give a fuck."
  17. "We were basically trying to rip off the Pixies." Hell yeah, Pixies every time for me. Or the Huskers. Nae a fan at the time. All my mates were, but I never quite got it, I suppose. Nowadays I can pick and choose some Nirvana stuff I like but there's no doubt they influenced a generation. And they were good live. And had one of the best rock drummers ever.
  18. Again, not wanting to fall into the naysayer camp (I "say" Caldwerood can be a grade A clown at time sand makes some shocking decisions) but I'm glad someone else noticed this rather moronic comment from Jimmy. Whose fault is it that it's a "bad team" then? The buck stops with the manager. And who the fuck does he think he is anyway slagging off any part of the club? And, most importantly of all, what "bad teams" win 4 - 1? Shite draw for us in the UEFA as well. Neither a glamour tie or an easy one. It's pretty lonely out in the Ukraine on a wet Tuesday night when you have no firepower. At least the hopes will be high with having the first leg at home so we'll get a decent crowd.
  19. There are loads of rumours flying around just now but I'm nae sure what's the truth. It could well be down to the fact Calderwood doesn't like him as a person which means it doesn't matter how good a player he is, he won't play him. It's happened umpteen times before and it woudn't surprise me to see it happening again. I'll get the scoop the morn, hopefully. Remember Jimmy once claimed that John Stewart was the best finisher at the club, bought Thor Kristjanssen and Lubomihr Blaha and has started Darren Mackie for 4 straight games when he shouldn't even be on the bench, so his track record regarding strikers isnae exactly great. In fact, I reckon we're no closer to finding a reliable goalscoring partnership as we were under Stevie P. or Ebbe. And with our best asset, our defence, seemingly wilting and conceding an average of two a game so far we don't have much to be proud about. Combine that with the fact we have the most ineffective and predictable midfielders in the game in Clark and Smith respectively we're nae really doing too great just now. I reckon Jimmy could solve half of his problems by playing the best team he possibly could on Saturday. By that I mean the "best players" as opposed to playing his favourites or leaving out players he simply doesn't like or has fallen out with: Langfield in goal - he's nae the best in the business, but he's better than Soutar. Diamond at centre back - Evidently improved from last season. McNamara at centre back - We desperately need his experience and influence in the middle. Hart at right back. Obviously. Foster at left back. Just like last season where it worked so well, so why change? Touzani in the "holding role" he normally burdens Clark with. It's what he does best. Seve in the middle binning abody and winning balls de Visscher on the left midfield. Doubters: I've seen him play and he's good - he is all about crosses and beating folk. Nicholson on the right. I'm a big critic but on his game he can be the difference. Maguire up front running in behind, taking on folk and being a nusiance. The lad is pishing himslef to impress every week and is clearly a superior Mackie i.e. he can play football - dribble and control so why leave him out every week at the expense of Mackie? Lovell - Best finisher and striker at the club. Simple as. Should start every game. Is the fan's favourite. Cost 200,000 so should be playing otherwise why pay for him in the first place? Scored for fun in a shite Dundee team who were relegated so with some proper service here he could be 20+ a season. Proved himself last season with 10 goals in an injury plagued season. etc. etc. etc. Just my thoughts. I'm bored and it's lunchtime. And I'm nae going to Rugby Park on Saturday. Was considering it at the start of the season, but I fully reckon Jimmy is cheating the fans at the moment.
  20. Nice one - I'm gonna get Kimberly a ticket for her birthday and Rob & Bec are comin too so this could be turned into a jolly of sorts as it's at the weekend! Lovely stuff!
  21. Absolutely. I've attended every game this season so far and really don't have one positive thing to say. We are half the team we were at this stage last season. Leaving out our best striker and arguably most important player (people seem to forget nowadys that scoring goals is how you win football matches - even Jimmy "gung ho" Calderwood) has been unforgiveable. There's so much to get tore into but It's not gonna change anything. The fans are always wrong anyway..........
