  1. That's the prick that dissed Peel onstage, isn't it? Surely his drunken, pathetic little excuse for a career in music should be over by now??
  2. So have I - dude, you would have died laughing if you'd seen me doing Mope by Bloodhound Gang on karaoke there in front of all the oldies! I gave it laldie!! A great bar and a guaranteed good night oot!
  3. Nothing's moved since the day it was closed down, lass! It said 2.70 a pint on the back o the Guiness tap I saw today And the Peroni was extortionate. As were the nips.
  4. My apologies - I meant to say nae getting renewed!!!!! He's so fucking fat!!! About 350lbs I'd reckon! When he croaks it they'll have to cut him out. Seriously. And the Abbot is indeed one of the worst - My wife used to live across the road and I actually saw a guy being chucked through a window. Shady, shady charcters hanging about all the time. And I agree, Filty's is an awesome bar. Often quiet as well. I'm often in there for a swifty. Underrated to buggery, that place. And a fine pint.
  5. So do I. I've tried everything and don't think - I KNOW these are the best!!!! They even make Ipod haters like the sound of my Pod! But these sound great on my TV and hifi as well. They can handle the bass no worries with a lovely clear treble sound. Amazon always have them cheap if not from One - Up. And they will fit in your lugs regradless of size due to the interchangeable rubber bits. I can't hear the wife nagging me when I've got these on
  6. Was at the Lemon Tree this morning with my boss - took loads of photos for drawings he's doing which are getting passed by APA. It's still got the old magic when you turn the lights on: Anyway, APA are looking to move forward as soon as possible - It's going to take a while to get everything sorted though. Was told they are going to have a big push on the drama / performance side of things as opposed to the usual tirade of tribute acts. And I said on behalf of the Aberdeen Music community make the bar prices more reasonable! Strange how it's all turned round. I'm sure there will be another spanner in the works thrown in at some point, but good to see some progress.
  7. 2 years ago. Early last year. Late last year. And this one. It's a bit tired now, innit? My mate Paul (guy behind the bar) has moved out of the other flat for good and the license is getting renewed so It's just a matter of time before the doors are closed so take every opportunity you can to get in (when it's open.) In case anyone missed the last thread Cummy (the friendly landlord) hasn't left his bedroom, let alone house in almost two years now so he won't be about. The funniest part part is everyone thought he was for real - It was a slight exegaration to say the least. His wife was mortified. Okay, he's not exactly the most polite and articulate gentleman in the world but he hammed it up for the camera. The "casuals" are just neds as well. Watch the whole programme - some of the bars there are real hard bars - It's scary stuff. I love the one where the landlord's an ex - boxer and if anyone is fighting he takes them upstairs to settle their differences in the ring he has set up. Queensbury style. Ye cannae beat it.
  8. It's more the fact that people DON'T like it because it's popular now Boosh is like a live action cartoon for me. It's a good laugh. Fielding is the star however I prefer Julian Barratt's performance. He's great in just about everything I've seen him in - he brings loads of "real" stuff to his character (as does Fielding. of course.) Naboo's permanent deadpan delivery is the highlight for me, though. And Bollo. When he got baked off the brownies in the last series I fell off the chair laughing. Milky Joe is still my favourite! Did anyone see the documentary on BBC 3 regarding the making of the Boosh the other day? Might have been a repeat. Was pretty insightful and funny. You can see why folk don't like it - fair enough. It's just a bit of silly comedy at the end of the day. That's now raking in millions!!
  9. You don't get it. I'm bailing from this one - by the looks of things Jake's got things covered.............
  10. . Yes, I agree to let Asians have their radio station. I haven't indicated to the contrary once, so why say that? I have absolutely no probelm whatsoever with the Asian Network whatsoever. Just try making a White Network and see those complaints roll in. That's my point. No problem with the Asian radio station. Or black stataion. Or Japanese. Or Polish. etc. I'm nae willing to get this deep into it. Failing is favourable to mediocracy in my book, junior.
  11. There's nothing "wrong with it" it's just that if you were to set up a "white music station" it would be considered racist. that's all. Why can't we just have an all - emcompassing "radio station?"That way everyone gets involved and it's not favouring anyone. Not the way the world works I know, but I just think prejudices will linger for generations if people are constantly reminded about "minorities" in general. End of story, for me.
  12. I agree with you 100%, Jake. My biggest gripe in the world of music: It's okay to have MOBO's but MOWO's would be considered racist. Why can't there just be "Music of any origin awards" -Why diffirentiate? Why box things in? Isn't this what all minorities want? To be accepted? To be part of the bigger picture? To not feel like they need to be singled out? Fucks me right off, that does. Also: It's racist for a white comedian to create a stand - up show that pokes fun at his own race AND other races (Bernard Manning etc) but It's genius when Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor etc. makes a show out of it. I'm nae really a fan of Manning or that particular brand of comedy, but you get what I mean. Don't wanna get too deep into it but it's one of the things in the world that really gets my back up. Minorities revel in being minorities and they take every opportunity to remind everyone else they ARE a minority. The history books can never be re - written but by God, let's move on. I mean, even grizzled war veterans can take a trip to Germany. Don't even get me started on that Asian Fucking BBC radio station. Let's have a station with a music policy that only allows music created by white kids. Wait a minute.....................
  13. http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/general-discussion/34018-found-justice-mill-lane.html#post497339 In case you'd missed it. I am physically sore after listening to that. the "backing vocals" in particular are truly - words fail me. You start mucking about a bit in the middle after the "serious" start. It's just too funny........................:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:
  14. Fuck, I feel like Pete Townshend. Don't play with the big boys then come greeting when someone disagrees with you, junior. I did laugh at the joke. When I first saw it four years ago. I was being serious, come up with something original, post it here and you'll get respect if it's original and funny.
  15. It's just a fucking chain email you've copied and expanded with "killer lines" such as "the face and mouth of a whore." I first got that email about 4 years ago. That takes no talent whatsoever so I agree it is "appaling." Come up with your own jokes and you'll get some kudos. Blatant plagarism is neither big nor clever.
  16. Don't have tickets, but will we be able to bumble on down about 9 and get in no worries? Cheers Marsh.
  17. Just remembered Idlewild were amazing at Glow! Got the Captain EP signed at that gig! fantastic. When they were good 'n' all that............ Also the Needles & GoldBlade was a particulary brilliant night, must have been 10 years ago now! I remember it well as that was when I was a pup and never got hangovers - was out the very next day getting into a similar state!
  18. Yep, being in the middle of that having a mic shoved in my face as Warhead went on and on was my highlight. The guitar falling through the air is a split second memory I'll never forget. The Damned were amazing. Muse rocked. CapDown were indeed the house band for a while. Cecil. China Drum. Wilt. King Prawn. Rico. Skindred. 3 Colours Red. Stereophonics & Subcircus! My first time in the place! So many good bands seen there. I used to enjoy the old Friday "rock / indie" nights - climbing the ladder to talk to the DJ was always a favourite, fuelled by 1 bottles of Red. Good times. All the name changes are like a timeline I reckon. Used to be the best place in town. Catered for all needs I thought. Sad to see it go. Haven't been in fucking ages, though.
  19. You read far too much Evening Express. That's 100% utter bollocks. Regardless of what "source" you heard that from it's simply not true. Name an alternative location where it could be placed? I reckon placing it outside the world's second largest granite building (Cooncil HQ or not) is a fitting tribute to Robert the Bruce. Aye, remember the "people that run the city" will account for about 5% of the popoulation of the new office. the rest will be people like me who happen to work for the Council and just get on with their jobs regardless of all the "crap." I do agree that many of these people are complete muppets and it's deplorable they carry on in such high profile - high paid jobs when they cleary aren't coming up with the goods. Personally I'm just looking forward to getting out of this archaic tower block. It's embarrasing when the public come in to here and the lifts don't work and it's either freezing cold or roasting hot, there's not enough room to move in etc. etc. etc. The public deserve a first class Council office as do the staff who work there. It is gonna cost a fortune to rennovate Marischal, but if: a) It's not gonna lie there decaying anymore - As mentioned the second largest granite building in the WORLD has just sat there rotting for many years. It needs to be sorted and if every taxpayer has to pay a few quid to subsidise it so be it. b) It's gonna be a focal point of Aberdeen City Centre c) I, along with hundreds of others, can work in comfort. The end of St Nicholas House destroying the landscpae from near and far is also a very good thing indeed. d) It means it's an inviting building for the public to come in, then I'm all for it. In any case, I think the correct statue was picked - It's by a Scottish sculptor and to these eyes the pose is spot on, very "Freedom" style. It'll look even better twice life size.
  20. Are you one of that mob? Glad the bars are ruining your pleasure of defacing the city centre
  21. Are you the same Johnny Mac that posts on AFC Chat?

I ken, oooooh the irony. Sid would be turning in his grave.
  23. Nae a fan myself. I've tried it out and it just wasn't for me. I like the screen to be as clutter - free as possible with the least amount of buttons (everyone uses delete to go "back" nowadys, don't they, so why have a massive btton for this taking up screen space????) I just have the one smallest possible bar at the top in my IE 6. Tabbed browsing does nothing for me - when you open a new window it goes into a "tab" at the bottom of the screen that's hidden until I need it again - I don't need to be constantly reminded I've opened a new window. You can get decent pop up blockers without using Firefox. My IE never crashes, but i think that's a PC specific thing. The thing that gets me about Firefox is when the sneakily put in one of those "Install Firefox and use it as my default browser" ads when installing software. They are deliberatly chucked in at the end of installations when they think folk aren't paying attention to what they are clicking. Poor show. Nothing personal against them, I just think this is a cheap shot and it gets on my nerves when any company does this sort of thing. It just isn't for me, but the best advice is give it a road test and if you decide it's no use, uninstall and stick with IE.
