  1. who is tumor foot? It is usually the track I put on first.
  2. I'd go with all those styles but as I have no specific taste, I can cope with a bit of country. I love playing in a soul, funk, blues direction as well as dirty, nasty electro style stuff (don't get much of a chance for that though).
  3. What kind of music do you like playing?
  4. That is exactly what I was looking for, cheers! I'll definately do my best to come along on 23rd. Heard you guys were excellent
  5. Most definately. We can chat about it on Friday night. I've got some extreme ideas
  6. I was just wondering about people's experiences of playing outside of their home towns. I have played a few gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow with varying degrees of success and fun and now that one of the bands I play in is divided between cities, this seems like this the logical way to do gigs from now on. Does anybody do this on a regular and sustained basis? How hard is it to maintain consistantly playing in different cities round the country and possibly holding down a regular job? Any thoughts welcome...........
  7. Ellon is a great place to play, everyone is really up for dancing and having a good time. It is, however, a different band. The quality is still the same (if not better) but the songs are different and have a bit more groove behind them. Our rhythm section is top notch - new bass player is excellent. Any suggestion about what would make for good additions to the website? We don't have any recordings yet so that is one thing on the to do list.
  8. Just a gentle nudge to remind everyone to come along to this gig rather than any other one on Friday night
  9. The web site is fully operational now so check it out, see what we look like and find out how ace we think we are Joking aside Lisa, one of our amazing singers, has made an excellent job of it. Good work Lisa! Enjoy and rembemer to come down to the Tunnels on 15th December - an ideal venue if you are on a work night out or just out for a good time (cheeze).
  10. What is the hourly rate and what gear do you have in the practice rooms? Do you have small PAs/drums/mics etc as this should be reflected in the rate? Not every band will need these but it is handy for the majority who don't own these luxury items. Have you got a website - would be good if it had pictures on it.
  11. Dark City is very good, as is Pan's Labyrinth (saw this the other day and it is very good and thought provoking) Pan's Labyrinth | Official Movie Site | Picturehouse
  12. Good point, it was supposed to be in Drummonds but I had to reorganise. Myspace is now updated and website asap - cheers for pointing that out!
  13. Really looking forward to this. Going to be our first gig in a while, some great bands to get back into things with!
  14. Next gigs will be in March next year due to holidays and things of that nature. Should have a very diverse couple of sets by that point. Really want to play a few gigs outside of Aberdeen through the year as well. Might try and get down to Dundee for a start.

Looks like a nice pedal, does it have a whammy function?
  16. Its a blast! Its amazing how much like the commitments playing in a band with so many people is like. A lot of tastes to take care of. Its a lot of fun doing the arrangements of songs, I think its important not to carbon copy songs. It makes for a much fresher and diverse sound and allows to account for different influences in people's playing. You fancy taking a trip up to Aberdeen to watch? Are you in Dundee or Edinburgh?
  17. New date for people's diary is 15th December in the Tunnels - doors open at 8pm. http://www.myspace.com/soulfunkinhot http://www.soulfunkinhot.co.uk Its going to be a great night so get yourselves down there for some fun and dancing.
  18. Soul Funkin Hot will be playing a night of classic soul and funk in the Tunnels on 15th December. This is a great chance to see another side of the Aberdeen music scene, our 11 members dedicated to performing and perfecting a classic soul sound. Our line up consists of 4 singers, bass, guitar, keyboards, drums and a 4 brass (trumpet, trombone, alto sax and tenor sax). Check out our myspace and website for more details of upcoming events. http://www.soulfunkinhot.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/soulfunkinhot
  19. Come along to Cafe Drummonds to see these great bands on Friday 8th December. It'll be a most amazing night. You can check out the bands on their hi-tec web sites: The Grim Northern Social http://www.thegrimnorthernsocial.com/ Ghost of Bongo http://www.myspace.com/ghostofbongo Flaming Katy http://www.myspace.com/flamingkaty
  20. nice and only the price of 15 nights out based on an average spend of 20 per night.
  21. It's a shame that more people don't take up playing the keyboard in bands although this is slowly changing with people realising that it is actually a cool thing to be able to do! What you have in mind is something that I'd have a go at but I've just got too many things on the go at the moment, not enough keyboard players kicking about. Good luck with the quest. If you guys are still at school then you should rope in someone from your music class to do it - there must be someone that has some keyboard skill.
  22. How regularly do you practice and gig?
