  1. ok, If you really think PT is reliable :D not on any system I have ever used (that is loads) I cant risk studio time with it. I use systems that are solid and I dont have to worry about backing up every 5 mins. as for the converters. for the price there is much better. you will get the same for about half the price without the PT badge.
  2. CAC Have you ever used ProTools In a PRO session? It is very Unreliable and Its converters sound crap, it is the standard but that is due to marketing and not the quality of the platform. It has lots of bells and whistles which help it crash very often. but if thats what you want and not a Solid great sounding system then the choice is yours. There is better out there...
  3. Flash very good! I still think you need high quality produce to make a good food outlet work.

    Driving

You all make my insurance look good Fully comp on my Impreza STI is under 900. But it does help being an Advanced driver
  5. I would chose Soundscape Every time. I have been using it for years and NEVER had a problem with it. and Imo It is the best sounding (converters). Plus I can use it with my eyes closed
  6. Nooo Dont use protools unless you want to take twice as long.... It is the standard but is not the best.
  7. We have done this already Look at the where to record thread. http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25648&page=2&pp=15
  8. He could have recorded in his bedroom, but at some point in the process it would pass through some Pro gear before pressing
  9. I have used metropolis for Mastering before with good results. I think they could take a full Orchestra with 90m/2???
  10. Correct Hog Both Andrew and I have been to London Studios and Know the quality of them. and to say you can get the same quality in a studio steup with a small outlay of 32k is really a bit of a joke to anyone who knows about Studio's and recording. I am just a sound geek really
  11. As I said The Byre with Me work out around 22-25 per hour, For a Pro Studio.
  12. For Audio Cd's I never go over 4x or the Error correction has to work overtime.
  13. For the Sgt Pepper time they used 2 4trk recorders which where manually sync'd, They would start the first machine then the second then using the varispeed control sync the two together. It is hard enough syncing 24trk's with Proper controllers let alone by hand.
  14. With reff to which Albums?? If you know the process of engineering the Assistant does quite a bit of the work, If with a producer then they do most of the engineering. I also have done quite a bit on my own as Producer/Engineer for many record co's and studios with chart results. Album credits dont really tell much about the making..
  15. I Could do the Name drops too not going to though
  16. I can use up to 18 mics on the kit. maybe more if a crazy sound is needed, It might sound like a lot but it does give you loads of sound options. I quite often record using 24 tracks to get everything down edit then start the overdubs.
  17. Drums are easy to record when you know what you are doing
  18. Ok you missed out the Focusrite stuff on your site. But I still don't think the 001 I/O Is a very good interface to protools, Even the big protools converters don't sound very good. I have used most systems Including Protools rigs costing over 32k and I would still take Soundscape any day for all round use and sound quality. What converters are you using for the 24/96k?? And also could I have a full Mic list Thanks Mark,
  19. It isnt 900 for 3 songs. That is for 3 days at a really good studio. what you do in that time is your choice! But I would say if you want the best result you need to spend more time on it. If you wanted to do 30 song's you could but I could not produce the same quality finish in that time.
  20. 900 for 3 songs is to record and mix to a very high standard the way the band want to sound. It can be done cheeper but without the same quality.
