  6. Exciting enough as the prospect of seeing The Others on the second date of their UK tour next Sunday the 16th is, support acts The Rakes (pictured) and Ludes are causing quite a stir in interesting places too: "The Rakes are a spindly-framed quartet from East London with a set of songs that have drawn rave comparisons to the likes of PIL, Wire and Joy Division. Dressed in blood stained uniforms The Rakes are unashamedly political and their live experience is, by turns, chaotic, funny, charming, silly, serious, beautiful, moving, aggressive, effeminate, sublime and ridiculous." from drowned in sound Ludes recently headlined the Play Louder Christmas party at Camden Barfly
  7. Nice one Pete, did you see Cuts - the support act? If so what did you think?
  8. No problem, thanks for posting up the information for Gilly.
  9. Yes Neil, it runs for a year from the time you pay for it.
  10. Well said Valley 69 - looking forward to this myself - never heard Cuts before, or is it The Cuts? Does anyone care? Recent Rezillos interview at www.punkoiuk.co.uk/interviews/rezillos.htm
  11. I was the same with Strummer at T in the P. So yeah regardless of the Carbon/Silicon stuff, and what I've heard is decent, the chance to see Mick Jones live is enough to get me excited.

  13. Possibly bending the aberdeen-music.com rules a little for me to post about this on the all music discussion..... but given i don't do it often, and The Clash are my all time favourites, what does everyone reckon Carbon/Silicon will be like? A bit hard to say I suppose given their songs only seem to be available in snatches on their website, but from what I've heard Mick's vocals are to the fore and there's some pretty punky riffs amongst the elecrtonic elements. www.carbonsiliconinc.com
  14. Don't let McGee's quote put you off. You can check carbon/silicon's sound at www.carbonsiliconinc.com
  15. Aberdeen's Lift have been announced as support for the Mull Historical Society gig at The Lemon Tree this Tuesday DF Concerts presents: Mull Historical Society +Lift Tuesday 23 November Caf Tickets 14 including booking fee Doors Open: 7.30pm Show Starts: 8.30pm
  16. Aye, there seems to have been as much exctiement around the announcement of Paddy Casey as support as there has been for Tom himself. Apparently Paddy has sold 130,000 albums in Ireland (not that sales are the be all and end all) - will be checking it out myself to see what the buzz is about. How come Ben Folds cancelled?
  17. First day of the holidays for many, not me unfortunately, but should make for a particularly good night anyway.
  18. The Rezillos+Cuts The Rezillos+Cuts Friday 17 December Tickets 12 (8 concessions & Regulars) Doors Open: 9pm Show Starts: 9.30pm The public are being warned today of increased activity by the group known as "The Rezillos". Usually based in secret locations in Scotland, "The Rezillos" are expected to extend their activities into mainland Britain during the weeks leading up to Christmas, according to intelligence experts these incursions are likely to reach as far south as London. "The Rezillos" are not considered to be dangerous, however the authorities do recommend that they should be approached with caution by members of the public, if anyone sees or suspects any Rezillo activity, they should report it at once to their local radio station. In the event of a "Rezillo" attack, the public are asked not to stay in their homes, but to make their way, in an orderly fashion to the scene of the activity, as in the past "The Rezillos" have been successfully contained by large crowds of people.
  19. Carbon/Silicon plus support Tuesday 07 December 2004 - Caf Tickets 12 (8 concessions & regulars) Doors Open: 8pm Show Starts: 8.30pm Carbon/Silcon are the new project fronted by Mick Jones (The Clash, Big Audio Dynanite) and Tony James (Generation X, Sigue Sigue Sputnik). Check the band's website and you'll find the guys are clearly not content to rest on their considerable laurels, with some belting new songs featuring a greater electonic element than you might expect - looks like being a cracker. "Carbon/Silicon are the Stones jamming with a Laptop" .......Alan Mcgee www.carbonsiliconinc.com
  20. Camie, Hundred Reasons - not going quite as fast as I'd like but healthy enough though, and will hopefully still sell out. Nice one! I'm small and pretty ordinary looking, Marj will point me out as I have no other distinguishing features.
  21. The Bloc Party show at The Lemon Tree tonight is now SOLD OUT.

  23. Tune Up presents The Delgados+support Friday 4th February The Lemon Tree Doors 9pm | onstage 9.30pm 12 (8 concessions & Regulars) Box office 01224 642230 chemikal underground label owners The Delgados formed in 1994. Taking their name from the famed Spanish cyclist Pedro Delgado, they are individually: Alun Woodward (guitar/ vocals), Emma Pollock (guitar/ vocal), Stewart Henderson (bass) and Paul Savage (drums). Drawing inspiration from sources ranging from the Incredible String Band to Hamish Imlach, the bands heady brew of off-kilter pop, strings and folk influences was quick to attract a loyal following as well as critical acclaim. As The Delgados songwriting matured, their arrangements became more precise and beautiful. On their last two albums in particular, the carefully considered guitar, orchestrated strings and haunting vocals combine to create an overwhelmingly powerful and unmistakably grand style of pop music. The Delgados are currently writing their fifth album. http://www.lemontree.org/Music/event.cfm?eventid=2287&tempmonth=2
