1. Yeah, very good point Chilli - me brain aint working proper. How could I have forgotten that Vini Reilly played guiters and keyboards on Mozza's first solo album Viva Hate (and some of the other singles that were collected on Bona Drag too I think). I'd be struggling slightly to be certain which guitar parts are Vini's and which are Stephen Street, but I'm pretty sure most the good ones are Vini (The intro to Alasatian Cousin, the Suedehead riff, Late Night Maudlin St.?). Must go and dig out my cassette (remember them?) of VH - I'll be at Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I next - any excuse. I draw the line at Southpaw Grammar though (with the exception of The Teachers Are Afraid of the Pupils). Whoops, I'm dregressing from the subject matter rather badly here - must look out the review I saw over the weekend of the new Durutti Column compilation to redress the balance.
2. Durutti Column + support Monday 28 November The Lemon Tree 13.50 (9 concessions & regulars) Doors 8pm | Show 8.30pm Box Office: 01224 642230 One of the first signings to the legendary Factory Records, the basic idea behind Durutti Column's music is to break with whatever structure supports the foundations of musical formalism, in order to try and create a kind of music which really can belong to everyone. www.column.freeuk.com http://www.lemontree.org/Music/event.cfm?eventid=2632&tempmonth=11
3. Dogs D'Amour + support Wednesday 19 October The Lemon Tree Tickets 12 (8 concessions & regulars) Doors 8.30pm | Show 9pm Box Office: 01224 642230 The Dogs D'Amour came out of the mid-80's with a unique mixture of glam- and punk-influenced rock'n'roll and a do-or-die attitude. Their album from 1988, titled Unauthorised Bootleg on China Records, is a hard-to-find collector's item with only 2000 copies printed. It's an official compilation of songs they played live since 1983 and before they landed their major recording deal, an answer to the bootlegging that took place back then. The breakthrough was made with the 1988 album In The Dynamite Jet Saloon followed by an acoustic ballad EP called A Graveyard Of Empty Bottles the year after (limited edition of 15'000 copies), which was very representative of Tyla's poetic style of sad romance and booze. Now they're back together witha new album (or two) under their belt, catch them while you can. http://www.lemontree.org/Music/event.cfm?eventid=2631&tempmonth=10

5. Alabama 3+support Thursday 29th September 13.50 (9 concessions & Regulars) Doors 9pm | support 9.30pm The Lemon Tree Box Office: 01224 642230 Brixton cowboys Alabama 3 are one of Britain's most exhilarating live bands with a fistful of festival appearances this summer including T in the Park. Known to the couch potato masses for their track 'Woke Up This Morning' - theme tune to 'The Sopranos' - their three studio albums 'Exile On Coldharbour Lane', 'La Peste', 'Power In The Blood' and acoustic live album 'Last train to Mashville Vol 2' have established the band members as popular heroes. New album 'Outlaw' is perhaps their best work yet. A more stripped down, melodic album than its predecessors, it is a superb mixture of tongue-in-cheek nobility and honest, heartfelt song writing. Tracks like 'How can I protect You' and the first single, the ode to the Man in Black 'Hello I'm Johnny Cash' highlight an album that is down to earth yet eccentric, uplifting yet reflective and a sure fire instant classic. http://www.lemontree.org/Music/event.cfm?eventid=2630&tempmonth=9

7. I agree, saw them iin Kef near the beggining of last year and they were excellent.
8. Yeah, I know, sorry. At least it has generated interest and kept this thread near the top of the forum. How come you are "Dave who is Jamie" anyway?
9. I haven't heard the music either but ever since seeing a poster for My Beautiful ex Girlfriend I thought to myself "What a fucking awful name". Is it supposed to ironic or something? I hope so coz it just screams to me "get over it". Anyway hope the gig goes well. PS My opinion on this name is purely personal and does not reflect the views of The Lemon Tree in any way.
10. Fair dos, but I'm not sure that 10 million would make a long term difference either.
11. Anyone travelling down to Edinburgh for the Scottish Live 8, or watching the event on the big screens at AECC should watch out for a taster of what's in store at The Lemon Tree on the 16th of September. Midge Ure, one of the brains behind the event, and the original Live Aid and Band Aid projects, will be playing a highly anticpated set at the Murrayfield gig. www.live8live.com/theconcerts/index.shtml The former Ultravox singer follows that up with an intimate acoustic show of his classic tracks, some of his favourtie covers and newer songs here in Aberdeen on Friday the 16th of September. www.lemontree.org/Music/event.cfm?eventid=2545&tempmonth=9

13. Have passed this on to Andy, I'm sure he'll get back to us quick.
14. I like your stealth, buzzword Marketing Chilli, but I reckon it's time to unleash the details to the good people who have contributed to this post? It's been in the e-mail informer and the brochure will be out by Wednesday (not in the post - that'll be a few days later - but at the venue) so no need to hold back methinks: Interesting Music Promotions present: Homespun featuring FOUND & Radio Magnetic Soundsystem Saturday 17 September 2005 Studio Theatre Tickets 3 Doors Open: 8.30pm Show Starts: 9pm Since the beginning of 2005, an ensemble of southern dwelling musicians and artists, calling themselves FOUND, have been grooving heads left, right and centre with their unique blend of visual art and music. In fact, they've already made such an impact that the PRS Foundation have decided to award FOUND the prestigious 'Live Connections Award' to stage this one off multi-media event. For this specially commissioned performance FOUND will set about hand crafting 200 CD covers using sewing machines, staplers, guillotines, stencils . .. they will sample and loop the sounds made by these devices to form a live musical composition into which they will incorporate their own songs. Once finished they will burn 200 CD-Rs of the performance, slot them neatly into the handmade sleeves and distribute them for free to everyone who attends. Or at least, that's the plan! While FOUND are bustin... their onions duplicating 200 CDs, Glasgow's finest, the Radio Magnetic Sound System will entertain the crowd with a specially prepared interactive DJ set. And all of this for only 3!!! www.surfacepressure.co.uk/found www.prsfoundation.co.uk www.radiomagnetic.com
15. They are on-sale now and selling pretty well given this gig hasn't been in the brochure yet. The Undertones Sunday 25 September Tickets 15 (10 concessions & regulars) Doors Open: 7.30pm Show Starts: 8pm One of the greatest of all bands to emerge from the punk era, The Undertones reconvened in their native Derry in 1999 with the electric onstage presence of Paul McLoone replacing original singer Feargal Sharkey. The shows were as fresh and exhilarating as in 1979 with new material and classics like Teenage Kicks, Wednesday Week, Jimmy, Jimmy, My Perfect Cousin and Here Comes The Summer being rapturously received. The band now play selective shows worldwide, attracting old fans, and many younger ones intrigued by their influence on new pop/punk bands such as Sum41, The Hives and Green Day. www.theundertones.com
16. Didn't see the coverage myself but hear, hear to the overall sentiment. If he is miming these days at least it'll be an improvement on his disaterous DJ sets of old.
17. 22:00 on Saturday for TITP Mondragon! - that's a tough one. How did last night go anyway? - wanted to come but had a flat inspection today (did fek all cleaning for it in the end anyway - but at least my intentions were good).
18. Yeah a great gig, four amazing musicians (all very talented, but i thought the bass player was particularly good and possibly the element that more than any other lifted them above most less accessible contemporary jazz). Hopefully we'll get them up again to a bigger audience, but as Graeme says I don't think the attendance was too disappointing and, according to the Sax player, pretty much the same as they'd had in Glasgow the night before. There's usually going to be a pretty limited audience for something as avante garde - though I did hope their Later... appearance might have made for even better ticket sales. Anyway thanks to all who came along and contributed to a very memorable night.
19. No problem, lines have been fairly quiet today, so if you try before 6pm you should get through easily enough.
20. Sorry not have seen this in time Sundance, but as you'll now know there was no support and Dennis was on at 9.30pm. Hope you enjoyed the gig.
21. Yes they are the ones who played on Later - www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A3971135 Thanks for the feedback on the on-line tickets Graeme. The booking fee is something that we thought long and hard about, and didn't want to make prohibitively expensive, but the 1.50 fee is just covering the costs involved, and looking at a few other examples of tickets available on-line, Glasogow Jazz Festival had a 1.50 fee, The Music Hall's fee varies but is generally 30p plus 10% of tickets price, and booking a ticket for Ian Brown's Glasgow show later this year via ticketmaster.com would add 7.20 onto the 20 ticket price. I'd be interested to know of other examples. The 6 price you refered to is actually the Regulars' Concession price (for those who have signed up to the Regulars scheme, but also qualify for concession price tickets), tickets.com are in the process of applying the Regular's price.
22. Yeah, I'm sure I've metioned that one to Neil in the past (our fault in the first instance), but eventually I decided that I liked "Liviest" - get that word in the dictionary now Mr. Oxford.
