  1. I think a lot of folk will buy on the doors
  2. Its all good man, I was only winding you up... Guess I have a flaw in my musical taste then hehe
  3. Nay really... I thought they were alright when I saw them... So Im happy with that. Can't say I own an album, do have a few mp3's though. Unlike many on here I aint scared to admit I like something that ain't popular... hehe! A joke... Im sure... of course it was... What next? A 'Aren't McFly Revolutionary' thread....
  4. Hootie and the Blowfish... There's a bl;ast from the past. I used to live in Malaysia, and over there, particularly with the expats they were huge. I saw them twice... I thought they were great. Mind you I haven't heard anything of them at all since I moved back here.
  5. Maybe a little bland... But they are very good at what they do indeed... Very enjoyable overall, a good gig!
  6. GNS were excellent, that was the first time Ive seen them... And it defintiely won't be the last. Great night!
  7. right.... ill remember to take that into consideration next time im faced by an Appl Pie.... or maybe not actuall! Aye those yoghurts are the business!
  8. Saturday is going to rock. Not only do I get to play... but then I get to watch two great bands as well... fantastic!
  9. Entry is 5 on Saturday I have been told... I am not sure about times and so on. CT are playing at 9:45 though. Any of the other bands know their times?
  10. My singing teacher is fantastic, I started working with her in 6th year at school, a couple of times a week, and now I see her every second Saturday. Makes a huge difference, not just to the voice itself, but in confidence as well... I noticed a huge difference after my first few lessons. I hear the lady at Toms is very good, I would recommend singers, heavy or not, to go along and give it a go, if it aint for you, then it aint for you... At the end of the day even some of the singers in the heaviest bands have proper singing training, its not just for thsoe who want to sing Mozart or Beethoven. (Although, of course it would be greta for those people as well!)
  11. Damn I cant believe I made a mistake of the date... Had the 3rd in my head for some strange reason! Ah well ive edited it on here...not the greatest amount of use... but oh well... Cheers for pointing it out! Thanks to the mods for sorting that one out now though... Fraid I don't... Im slowly getting a hold of information about this gig. If anybody else has any idea, then could they post it on here! Cheers! Ill post if I find out beforehand...
  12. Girl Said No Grim Northern Social Cleartone 9:30pm 5 Entry This should be a good night... Good to play Drummonds again, with two other great bands.
  13. I thought the tsunami appeal were now no longer accepting donations? Was speaking to a few folk at the Appeal HQ, and at Cash 4 Kids, and they have a press release saying that. Mind you, it doesn't affect pre-registered events. I think the band aid idea is a very good one, as rachie said, with the Tsunami happening, it has been difficult for other charities to get into the forefront. At the end of the day... every charity has a deserving cause, and whatever happens, it is good to see such an event taking place.
  14. Often folk are looking for a hand written cover note, if the CV is typed up... Although usually they do stipulate a hand written cover note.
  15. The stuff I wrote in my first post all happened, I don't think there's much in the way of lies in it, however, the way we reacted to what happened was not the best in ways and we accept that. Also, some of the problems were unavoidable, and so on. I appreciate the forgotten sons reply, because it gives me a better understanding of some of the problems, that on the night, I really didn't have. I just jumped to conclusions on a lot of the things. In the end though, we brought 25 odd folk to that venue which was about a third of the audience... So it wasn't like we were turning up with nobody.... And those folk were very much buying drink... It was also a free entry gig... The string was a string, and it was my fault. But then again, I had changed those strings that morning so I guess I was just too confident that it would be alright! Hehe... That'll teach me. You are most correct Graeme, and I would say that that outburst was uncharacteristic of myself, and CT, but what's done is done now, and I have apologised to those involved, and thats that. We will just chalk it up to experience, and not jump the gun like this.
  16. Aye... I hadnt thought of that, I cna see where you are coming from
  17. Aye Flash.. you hit the nail on the head there... Steve man, I am not one of those folk you are describing... In fact, I normally keep my opinions to myself in general, specially on these forums.. But, It is not a crime to express them really. I didn't just turn round and say it was a rant... I put it in the title even before I started writing! After Id written it, I just forgot about it, and didnt reply back, but I thought that Journeyman deserved a respisne, and I also emailed the bands involved directly. Tbh, I don't want to fall out with bands, I don't enjoy it, and it gets nobody anywhere, especially not over something as petty as this, so I responded honestly, and rightly...
  18. Wirelessly posted (Nokia6100/1.0 (05.16) Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0) Psy, no worries man... None was taken! Yeah, tam you are most correct about that fact... We are working on that...
  19. I am not really backing down either... But the focus of the rant was just at the night in general, and at the venue/manager, and not the bands themselves. Or at elast that shouldnt have been the intention. There wasn't much in the way of white lies in my first post, but there was plenty of exaggeration, i'll admit, but It was nearly a week ago. I know many bands would have felt the same as ourselves... Certianly in the first instance. Im done for this one though, its done n dusted, and we will chalk it up to experience... Its not healthy to push things like this!
  20. We did not deface any posters of Forgotten Sons, if people who came along with us did... then thats a different story altogether. But we as a band had nothing to do with that. We did not need to do this, as we had made our own posters, and sent them down, and they had been put up. If it was anything to do with us personally, id be the first in line to apologise! The main problem lies with the venue... And we know that. The probs with the bands were just set backs I know, which could have been overcome... But guys, both you and Boss Hogg, got soundechecks. Which really does help in those kinds of situations. Situations we hadn't accounted for, or come across before. We were told by the manager beofre playing, if we soundchecked we'd only get a couple of songs. So we didnt have a choice but to go on with it, in which we got four songs. We were using the same equipment in theory, but having a drum kit in front of the amps makes it difficult to sit and change the sounds... Youa re right guitars and so on are very personal, and as such, it would have helped to get some time for that. We decided for music sake, to just get on with the best we could... And that's what we did in the end. I may has misdirected some of my criticisms, and I also exaggerated some elements in my rant (that in nature is what a rant is... but now in reflection, things are much clearer) I didn't lie very much though. On the other hand, lot of people travelled to see us, and we had we spent a long time preparing for it, Im sure you can understand the frustration. Boss Hugo played a complete set, for the record, which was closer to 40 mins, ours was just hitting twenty, when we were told we had to get off... This was by the manager, and not yourselves of course. I thoroughly enjoyed both the other bands who played... In fact I personally thought Forgotten Sons were not only one of the best Marillion tributes out there, but one of the best tribute bands full stop... and Boss Hogg, well personally I'd like them to come to Aberdeen sometime. We did feel like we were messed around on the night, though. But we can't really blame anybody else other than the venue... it was just some miscommunication in general. Guess we just got off on the wrong foot! But its water under the bridge now, a rant is a rant, and this one was in pure frustration... Not really in sound mind! It was just very petty indeed.
  21. Cleartone are on the lookout for promoters/diy/bands etc who are putting on gigs, or are involved in gigs out of town, so that we can try and get something together. These gigs can be anywhere in Scotland really, or just anywhere in general, we are gathering contacts b the day.... But I thought there would be no harm in asking the great aberdeen-music punters!
