  1. when you're a coffee snob... cheap coffee aint always good coffee. We have a 1,000 Racillio and grind all coffee to order. Something you don't get in any coffee shop I've been to in Aberdeen. AND we have exclusive kilau K2 coffee beans. But if you don't like coffee then I guess Nescafe is always an alternative.
  2. I think the cooler than thou thing comes hand in hand with independantly owned businesses. Mostly because the training is different to big companies and you don't get mystery shoppers or any one constantly watching your back all the time. So you can be a bit moody at times when you may get the odd arsehole and because you don't have to be false and put on the "I'm here to help" attitude. Generally when I serve any one who is remotely nice I go out of my way to give good customer service. Some people just want to come in order and drink and leave. And I'm cool with that too. I hate when people are forced to ask you how your day was etc. However if you're a difficult arsehole I don't see why I should really go out of my way for you. And i think that this goes for a lot of places. I'm not saying its a good thing. But because its not a big company where there are so many people above you and a head office in london who see you as a number, I feel there is a little more temptation to be... well normal.
  3. By using big words like proletariat, tantamount and laundry I can see you are one of those annoying studenty types the other guy was talking about clickity clackiting on their laptops. I bet you're the lanky bastard with the glasses that likes to pump out loud techno on sat nights aren't you!
  4. If staff are mean to you at kilau, its probably because you're a cunt. FACT
  5. It WAS overly rammed! I remember at the barrowlands a few years back I got in for 8 and they were selling reduced tickets on the door. I was a bit annoyed that most people only really knew the new songs and Hoppipolla, so talked through the ones the didn't know. But that's just me being a grumpy muso. I'd rather this than have to see them at the SECC which I'm scared is where they'll be forced to play if they ever come back.
  6. They were great but they were better the other times I've seen them with Amiina playing all the string arrangements. Some weegie bitch next to us decided to play commentator all night which got a bit annoying.

  8. Totally agree that the peacock set was better. If any one remembers that he actually did an encore that night which he pretty much never does. I saw him in London in a similar venue to tunnels and he was just as good. I think there was something up. He didn't look very happy last night. I noticed he also had a new string section. I think the girl on 1st violin is the only member from the other two gigs I saw. Maybe he thought the others were ruining his songs and the got a grilling after the gig?? I enjoyed Greg Haines for about 10mins. In my head I could see/hear what he was trying to do. But it didn't come close to actually coming out that way. At first I thought it was interesting creating rhythms and tones with salt. But as Phil says it got a bit too pretentious, I almost laughed at how dramatic he made turning an EQ knob. Finn was awesome, the whole Rambrandt Painting gimic that creeps the living shit out of you aside, he had a brilliant voice and interesting vocal loops. It was great seeing him harmonising with himself through the looping pedal. On last FM he is described as "Leonard Cohen on helium". Which I suppose is quite accurate. Baring that in mind he has a song that just went on about going from the 4th to 5th. Is that a reference to Cohen perhaps? Great turn out last night so well done to every one who put the gig on. I'll always pay good money to see Olafur. And apologies to Andy, he didn't look too pleased when I ribbed him about the wrong day on the flyer. Was I the 1,000,000,001 person to do so?
  9. To be fair to him (stilt cretin) for a crowd of 9 people and to still put on the full Manson Tribute show has to be admired. Really enjoyed Esperi and their foot glock/bell thingy. Y Change costume were the tits! All fun poking aside those boys really know how to make something as simple as bass and drums sound huge and inspiring. Every song was fresh and different unlike other bands I've seen do this. And Con's stage persona is second to none. GTS's stripped down set was beautiful. I don't think it worked as well as it did in Kilau but If I hadn't been at the kilau gig I would have been absolutely blown away. If that makes sense. The less said about our set the better.
  10. Intimate! Whats on in tunnels1?? Or should I know that? Was that a stupid question?? Am I a dick? Answers on a postcard... BUMP!
  11. Really enjoyed tonight. Debutant was awesome! Vocals hit the spot tonight and the guitar sounds were delightful. The new track was a highlight. Kestrals were great. Musically very tight and great technical guitar work. The songs were pacey and easy enough to get into with alot of great ideas into what seemed like really short numbers. As vocally amazing as the vocalist was (and believe me he has to be one of the best I've seen locally in a very long time) I'm not sure what to make of it. He spoke in between songs with a local accent yet when he sang you'd think he was from west coast california. But this is only a minor point that did not ruin my enjoyment of their set. Iname get better and better with ever show. Scott made them sound mightier than grayskull tonight. I've always thought that once the boys got the blance between their soft parts and turbulent sections they'd be stunning, but with earlier shows there was something missing. I thought that it was maybe they needed to use more contrasts. But I was wrong they just needed Scotty Blessed at the helm. He made them sound thunderous which helped the quieter parts. Also enjoyed the new use of vocals. As for Katerwaul... I actually forgot how to play the last song. I don't know how. We always play it in sound checks and its a popular one with a few folk and I've had many a conversation with people about its subject matter. But for whatever reason it just slipped my out of my head. Has this happened to anyone else? A great night had anyway. Apparently kestrals is only a temporary name so I'll have to keep tabs on this to see them again. Nice bunch of lads too.
  12. P.s tonight's gonna be the tits. I might start a mosh pit... prob on my own.
  13. Has potential to be your best tune yet! I'd still like to see you guys explore the more ambient/quiet side of your music to fully contrast with the heavy to really melt ones face when it does come.
  14. yes thats right Katerwaul are doing a 9hour marathon of a set! Don't miss out, the last 3hours are gonna be the tits! Can't wait to see Kestrals, saw pictures in pavements last week and the boy's got a nice voice.
  15. I travelled all the way to london to see Olafur the last time. Can't believe he's back in the deen! Totally excited, especially as its the day after Mogwai!
  16. 1. I saw damien rice and the counting crow there years ago and really liked it! 2. Mogwai are one of the most important and influential bands of all time. Your opinion on them means jack shit. 3. I have my ticket and I'm stoked! 4. Twilight Sad are the european support and I'm a little gutted they aren't on the bill but its still gonna be the gig to end all gigs!!! end.
  17. Milne has kindly given us the opening slot. I'm fuckin stoked! Can't wait to see French Quarter. We were supposed to support them a earlier this year but they had to pull out for some reason.
  18. what an ace mini festival. I had som much fun ping ponging between the two rooms. Unfrotunately the gig was ruined a little by the very people it was meant for i.e a small group of freshers. But not enough to ruin the whole night. All credit to Kirk who organised a great show. Tunnels should utilise both rooms like that more often. The request we got for a Deacon Blue cover was awesome!
  19. ace! thanks very much for that. Loving the art work.
