Doc Ascension

I have to be honest, i downloaded Drowning earlier, and its not great.. I mean, for a 12 year old - im very impressed, but its music, entertainment - and you have to take that on the strength of it alone.... the playing is good - but the songwriting and singing were definately not up to the rest of the standard.... sorry to be the twat....

For a second I thought an eruption had actually happened, if so this would have been very very very bad news.... However - we should be safe, but I wouldnt wanna be the next few generations haha...

Maurice is pretty damn awesome.... some of the other big names that have played there are good axesmiths too!! I notice you didnt say anything about Dragonforce though? well i don't know alot of them but there is definately a scene for what ur talking about... plenty of acoustic singer/songwriter type acts about so u wouldn't be alone!

actually better guitarists make appearances at the stoney folk festival (well i guess that doesn't count that as Aberdeen...) and don't forget Dragonforce will be playing in September, say all you want about the music - you can't dismiss their fretability (new word )

There's been several, but more recently this one: On my last night in Spain at Easter (was there for uni, a geoscience thingy) and we finished all the work we needed to do and since I had like 20 Euros left it was bender time haha... Beer is only 60p a litre over there, with a bottle of wine costing 70p!! Down at the pub the sold beer in 3 glass sizes and as always mine was the Grande Bajos Cerveza, or a 2 pint glass for 1.50 euros! Insane, anyway suffice to say I was well minced, and unfortunately felt ill the whole next day (including the plane on the way home) I didnt chunder but I felt like I needed to and wanted to the whole day it was cack... the plane was the worst part tho haha.

Well technically, we thought of the name FIRST, and decided we wanted it... then later we found out there were a few other Ascensions, however it doesn't really bother us at all as we are the only Power Metal playing Ascension as far as I'm aware...

I know people who were on 999 one time...

what made you feel that you needed to post this in 4 different forums? That's actually against the forum rules here, and this thread is the only one which should be posted - in the Gig/Event Annoucements (which this actually is). the moon looks bigger than this anyway though when it is closest to the horizon. The effects of refraction on the light coming from the moon magnify it so it appears much larger than when it is in the sky. Also its a kindof optical illusion with it being closer to a frame of reference for size (the ground) . But yes, it will be quite nice to watch tonight...

Err I'm afraid if you look around lots of band names are re-iterated over across the globe, you will hardly ever find a band name that hasn't been.... There are something like 14 "Ascensions" in the US, mainly Christians, but none of them play Power Metal, and according to the rules of naming bands the only stipulation is that you shouldnt confuse yourself with another band incase people mistake you for them. Now we are the only Ascension in the UK playing Power Metal asfar as i'm away, I think that'll do me fine. Short Version: We're not changing name

haha there's actually a band out there in America somewhere claled Descension, doesn't quite have the same ring to it I feel! Anyway yes we are currently on the hunt for a singer, so anyone interested get in touch!! We will try get this gig reorganised with the same bands in the future (with a singer:P) as I feel it could've been a total ace night...

ok I see what your getting at ... HOWEVER: The way I read it was such: That the gig was announced, and then you said you had an unfortunately 15 minutes (ie the whole gig being unfortunate in your opinion) and then it was cancelled 15 mins later so no more unfortunate gig... if you see what I mean!! Never thought about it the other way hahaha...

yep sorry guys, we had a phone call from the coucil today saying that our booking has been cancelled due to them retiling the bathroom at the Hall... crap We will try reschedule this but our singer will most likely not agree to another date, but if he does i'll let all yoyu guys know! Bruce Dickinson easily the best album of the year so far... (bear in mind Demons & Wizards and Stratovarius have new releases coming) But, alas, Hammerfall's latest offering was, well, shit to be honest! Crimson Thunder was a great album, but Chapter V seems totally weak and "forced". It's like they have nothing left and just threw together some random leftovers... shame really because everything they have done uptil now is really awesome.

good job man! The review on gamespot.com is what sealed it for me, even though I was considering it anyway - they were spot on! Its awesome hehe!

Anyway got this or played it yet? It's fookin awesome! Whole lotta fun, its quite fast paced so some MMORPG fanboys and diehards will really hate it, as it is quite different, but that's why I like it I guess... oh and probably the fact that right now its only 17.99 on play.com and there's no monthly fees! So anyway, hands up who's on?
