  1. Should be good, they've even modelled the main character to look like Depp.
  2. Sorry I didn't know about the Square 13 thing. But if anyone's anal (no pun intended) about only using big brands then this might be decent. I dunno...
  3. I'm not sure, sorry. Check next time you're in town.
  4. Another heads up for you kids who want to play it safe. Freedoms (http://www.freedoms-shop.com) do good deals on condoms. The "Mates" brand has an expiry date of 20 years and cost 14.49 (with shipping) for 100. I believe Boots sell 12 for a tenner or something ridiculous. If you want to buy the "Mates" brand, click on this link: http://www.freedoms-shop.com/ishop/950/shopscr58.html Aye but have a look around because they have other big brands too with decent expiry dates (we're talking years). A friend of mine has said they are the genuine stuff and are delivered erm... 'discretely'...(in a blank parcel).
  5. Just a wee heads up. Virgin Megastores are selling Akira Limited Edition for 3.99 - which is a bargain considering that it sells for around 20 at most highstreet outlets. I've already got the film on R1 DVD but I figured this might be handy for those who have yet to own this masterpiece. I personally love this title (but I didn't enjoy it when I was a kid). Anyway here's the link and remember, it includes free delivery (to the UK): http://www.virginmegastores.co.uk/pws/ViewObject.vms?ps_euk=459661
  6. Wow amazing film. Pardon me for stating the obvious but Christian Bale looks unhealthily skinny - suppose that is the point. Yeah great character study of a seriously disturbed individual. Watch it now. Charlotte (one of the forum mods, she still mod here?) was at the same screening as me.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I definately need to check out more films from home and away. I don't hate Hollywood, I know they've made plenty of excellent titles in the past. However I do think they are losing originality - especially recently fousing on a lot of sequels/remakes instead of some fresh new writing talent. It's now become tiresome: going to the cinema and sitting through the latest 'blockbuster' that leaves a sour taste in your mouth. I still have high expectations of certain writers/directors though. Paul, good list but I believe Rikki Oh is a HK film (based on a Japanese Manga though).
  8. In your opinion of course. I'm quite fed up of recent mundane Hollywood films. There are only a few 'stand out' titles that I find remarkably moving or hilarious. I'm quite keen on Far Eastern films, as I think in general they are responsible for some pretty amazing cinema. My DVD collection is around 60% Asian, 40% Hollywood (with the Asian collection gradually increasing). I know the HK and especially the South Korean movie industry is booming but I have a soft spot for Japanese cinema. I don't know why but I absolutely adore anything and everything Japanese. My favourite titles include Dare Mo Shiranai (Nobody Knows), Koroshiya Ichi (Ichi the Killer), Battle Royale, Gege (Milk White) and Visitor Q. Actually I'm ashamed of not checking out more British or Scottish films, as I know we've produced some fantastic films as well. I should really venture into European cinema too. So anyway, where do you think the best films are made?
  9. I quite enjoyed White Castle. I doubt I'd watch it again but it passed the time. Van Wilder is one of the shittest movies ever. I hate that film with a passion.
  10. I've never fully fainted but I came close twice: 1: At the sight of a 'horror' show (which I thought was real but was fake). Basically two dudes were cutting themselves, hammering nails into their faces etc. It was so warm inside, plus one of my friends was leaning on me. I just thought it was all gross and collapsed. 2: Extracting blood. Apparently this is quite common, especially for guys.
  11. Interesting topic. There are a few films that I enjoyed. Namely Hero, Napoleon Dynamite, Dogma, Mallrats and Cabin Fever. Each to their own - suppose it depends on how deep you look into these titles and how much you gain from the plot. Anyway, now for my worst films: Battle Royale II Volcano High (Director's Cut) New Police Story Van Helsing Charlie's Angels Cradle 2 the Grave The Itallian Job (remake) xXx Fast and the Furious
  12. Word. Fantastic gig, great venue - could see and hear the band clearly. The overall show was superb with some excellent lighting. The performance was outstanding, love the vocals, keyboards and audio balance. Everything was spot on and the atmosphere was immense. I wish I had bought an upstairs booth ticket now... next time perhaps. The support sounded rough... it was funny, the girl next to me thought they were nightwish and were cheering them on HARD.
  13. Cool it's screening on my Birthday and I'll be in Aberdeen that day too. I have a job interview though, not sure when I finish. What's the title about?
  14. Yup... watched this... absolutely love it. "Friggin' sweet, gosh."
  15. I have the HK single disc release of House of Flying Daggers for sale. This is imported from Hong Kong, includes optional English subtitles and is uncut. The version shown in UK cinemas has been censored by the bbfc. Price at 6 please. Please note that this not a pirate release. I also have Superman 1 + 2 UK Region 2 DVD boxset for sale. Price at 8. Excellent working condition (all titles). Am willing to trade if you have a decent DVD. Cheers.
  16. [Cinema] Free tickets for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Available via the Times this coming Saturday (will be standard fill in the form in the paper after calling hte number to get a confirmation code) Showing is Sunday 13th Feb clicky I'm in Glasgow so kinda useless for me. Hope someone finds it useful. I really want to see this though. Bill Murray rocks.
  17. I did a search and found nothing. So I'm sorry if this is a duplicate post. Anyway check out this ad: Right Click, Save As Approx 5MB.
  18. 7/10. Cool artwork IMO... but a little harsh on the pink.
  19. Just watched Episode 5. no spoilers Is it just me or has Lynette suddenly lost a kid and a baby? I thought she had triplets and a fourth kid... but now there are only two... what gives? spoilers Carlos' mama is a psycho and a half. Wonder if Gabrielle will get busted now... we'll see. Also yeah, this is the first episode since the first one hinting at mike's dodgyness. I think he's a cop perhaps... or a vigilante...
  20. Really? I did a search but couldn't find anything... I'm terribly sorry if it is a duplicate though, so mods can close if required. Anyways... Oscars last year were entertaining. I watched them live but didn't last til the end. Passed out on top of my keyboard... I've hardly seen any of the aforementioned titles.

  22. Just watched eisode 4.... [spoilers] - please do not read if you've not seen: Fantastic episode. I'm so glad that Mrs. Martha Huber got what she deserved. Pretending to be an honest Cristian but blackmailing poor Susan. Her daughter's cool and the two have an awesome relationship. Can't wait to see what happens next. LMAO at the gay bashing. "Are you gay?" "Yeah, is this why you're doing this?" "....yeah...!" So far, excellent series. The only annoying thing is that they revealed something dodgy about Mike on the first episode... that's far too early. I think it would've worked better as a twist later on. Nothing's been developed yet.
  23. I love this movie but I've embarassingly never seen the stage version. The opening chandelier scene is like the greatest movie opening of all time in my opinion. Even though the Glasgow UGC has amazing surrounds, I agree.. you can't beat the live acoustics of a theatre show. So I'm gonna save up a wad of dough, go to London and see the musical. Dunno how I'm gonna execute this plan though.
  24. I've got a hold of all their albums. Awesome stuff IMO.
