  1. Just make sure you get it back! Man totally forgotten who I loaned it to...
  2. If you enjoyed that then I would check out director Kim Ji-woon's previous titles. Top filmmaker IMO.
  3. Glad you finally saw it. Took you long enough! I think I lost my copy. Must've loaned it someone...
  4. Let the Right One In In a decade where audiences have gone nuts over fantasy/monster releases, I think I need to mention my favourite vampire film of all time, Swedish title Let the Right One In. Låt den rätte komma in (2008) It's a unique fairytale, which mixes childhood drama, fantasy and romance to create one of the most beautiful and heartfelt films I've ever seen. The performances from the child actors are mesmerising and genuine. I particularly love the photography, which showcases a desolate and atmospheric backdrop. I cannot recommend this film enough and urge anyone and everyone to see it.
  5. Daybreakers. Crap. I like my mindless horror-actions but this will soon be a forgettable title.
  6. OK sorry for the random question but I'm looking to speak to a South Korean. I know some of you's are students or whatever so I would greatly appreciate if you could arrange for me to speak to a Korean. Reason being, I'm thinking about going to Busan and Seoul for the film festival and football match respectively. Obviously planning to make a holiday out of it but just looking for some advice. Again sorry for what seems like a pretty stupid question but any help appreciated. Somebody told me that the guy who serves sushi at Market St or wherever is Korean? So if you can help, please send a private msg or something. Thanks a lot.
  7. Well good news for you is that Japan will get a not 1, not 2, not even 3, or 4, or 5... but a bloody 6 DVD Boxset (which includes the full Grindhouse cut)!!! The Japanese always get mental DVD sets and I've never understood why. I had to go to Japan to get the full uncut versions of Kill Bill (ok I could've bought them online but decided to pick them up whilst I was on holiday). Expect to shell out around 50-70 for it though lol. I too am a Tarantino Fanboy but I thought Death Proof was one big lesbian movie. Planet Terror (IMO) was miles better. Anyway here's the spec for you: Disc 1: Death Proof (Extended Film) -English DTS, English DD, Japanese dub -Japanese subtitles -Japanese Theatrical/TV trailers -Staff/Cast Profiles (Text) -What is Grindhouse? (Text) Disc 2: Planet Terror (Extended Film) -English DTS, English DD, Japanese dub -Japanese Subtitles -Rodriguez commentary -International/Japanese trailers -Staff/Cast Profiles (Text) -What is Grindhouse? (Text) Disc 3: Death Proof bonus materials -Special Message to Japan from Tarantino -Staff and Cast interviews on Death Proof -Stunts on Wheels: The Legendary Drivers of Death Proof (20:39) -Introducing Zo Bell (8:59) -Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike (9:34) -Finding Quentin's Gals (21:14) -The Uncut Version of "Baby, It's You" Performed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (1:4Cool -The Guys of Death Proof (8:16) -Quentin's Greatest Collaborator: Editor Sally Menke (4:3Cool -Double Dare Trailer (2:36) Disc 4: Planet Terror bonus materials -10-Minute Film School (11:52) -The Badass Babes of Planet Terror (11:50) -The Guys of Planet Terror (16:32) -Casting Rebel (05:34) -Sickos, Bullets and Explosions: The Stuns of Planet Terror (13:1Cool -The Friend, The Doctor and The Real Estate Agent (6:42) Disc 5: Grindhouse (191 minute theatrical cut) -English DD, Japanese dub -Japanese subtitles Disc 6: Japanese only Grindhouse bonus disc (106 minutes) -Grindhouse - US Trailer -2006 San Diego Comicon -Tarantino Interview (About the homages in Death Proof, About Planet Terror, Use of Music, Possible Sequel to Death Proof) -Staff/Cast comments -The Directors of the Fake Trailers -Coments on past Grindhouse Films -Making Of Planet Terror 6 Disc GrindHouse DVD - HorrorMovies.ca http://lx02.www.tsutaya.co.jp/shopping/marugoto/index.pl?pg_id=3817
  8. Has anyone seen the Number 23 or Death Proof? Both share the spot of worst film of 2007 IMO.
  9. The Namesake. Another brilliant title from Mira Nair.
  10. I thought this was a lot of fun but couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. It would've totally worked if they had more songs (which were the best part of the film) - i.e. gone for a full musical approach. The dialogue-only scenes (well some of them) were kinda lame. But nah, worth a watch if you're a D fan like myself. 3.5/5
  11. Pity it's censored. You can get the uncut R3 for a tenner delivered from cd-wow.
  12. You're quite right. I should've elaborated more, sorry. I really liked the style and tone, almost noir-ish in execution. It's more akin to the original graphic novels (which were quite dark, completely different from the 80's cartoon series). The story had a nice approach but suffered from dodgy villians (completely childish, non-scary monsters). Also I don't believe in hiring well known stars for voice-acting, just for the sake of it. Only do it if they can do a good job. Zhang Ziyi sounded completely out of place with her dodgy "Engrish." I described the film as "decent" because despite its flaws, I'm a Turtles fan and it was fun to watch.
  13. I knew this was going to be rubbish, but I watched it anyway. Dreadful movie.
  14. Seen it this morning (now showing at the cineworld). Decent enough but the story is a little underwhelming.
