Axl's 'Mick Hucknall look' is hideous. Sebastian Bach once wore a jacket with a patch that said 'AIDS: Kills fags dead' Not clever. 18 and Life was a fine song though.

What the fuck is going on here? This is the kind of thing that happens in my dreams when I drink too much and fall asleep half naked on the couch with the TV on. Is this real?

I remember switching on TOTP one night in the good old nineties and seeing Soundgarden playing Black Hole Sun live. Shit like that just doesn't happen anymore.

Also, Chris Clark will have a fine season as long as Tango man can resist the insane temptation to play him at left back. Easter Road here we come...

Yeah, I share your concerns about Zander. He showed loads of promise a few years ago but has been incredibly inconsistent since then. Still, better give him the benefit of the doubt for a new season at least. I reckon Lovell will be awesome this year. McGuire will show what he can do and Crawford will have an OK season (maybe all wecan expect from him). I can see Mackie fading more into the background as the likes of McGuire come through. John Stewart and Ricky Foster will contunue to amuse and bemuse, and Anderson will cement his position as Scotland's finest central defender (Steven who?). Let's be optimistic and say fourth place and a decent cup run for the Dons. If it all goes tits up we'll have something to whinge about over the winter and we can then enjoy another round of mindless transfer speculation from Calderwod come January, resulting in signing a dodgy left back from the Belgian second division who will play twice then break his leg. Byrne baby Byrne!

I'd take a good pummelling from you any day Mr Fudge. Craig is a true man of rock though. At a recent gig he baked scones and handed them out to the audience. After our last gig he had everyone round to his flat for cake and ice cream. Now that is metal.

What about Sky? I'm realy concerned now. Surely big Harold can't be expected to cope with any more tragedy? I wonder if he'll hit the bottle and start groping women again?

drakes is sorely missed. In its absence, i vote The Moorings. No contest really.

where should we hold the fudge awards this year?

I have a suggestion... deadenstereo! ahem. Well, we're exotic, aren't we? -
sat 22nd - deadenstereo + tenessee kait + identity + redpath

Jon is a huge manics fan (early stuff anyway) to be fair, so you're probably right. Radiohead we can all live with Maybe we should just take over BEING Radiohead on their behalf, seen as they can't seem to manage it any more. -

chris h replied to The Ghost Of Fudge's topic in Krakatoa
yo, can you make the deadenstereo track 'Trust the Tale (not the teller)'? Or 'Smooth Stones' if you prefer, though it might be a bit long. Gracias -
Some rather fine rock 'n' roll on offer this Friday in Edinburgh; Johnny Panic - all over Kerrang and MTV2, with comparisons to Three Colours Red, The Clash, The Manics etc. See thread below for info on their Aberdeen gig. deadenstereo - Aberdeen's favourite out-of-town band The Last Great Wilderness - formerly Annie Christian, these guys rock like motherfuckers and are one of Edinburgh's finest and most powerful live acts. @ Cabaret Voltaire (eek!) 8pm 5 www.deadenstereo.com Melody is at the heart of everything they doeach hook laden chorus earthed by churning guitars and brilliant harmonies - The Big Issue Mixing haunting guitar melodies with fragile vocals, deadenstereo could find a wider audience if theres more where this came from - The Daily Record This is great chiming lead guitar and spot on vocals freefalling into another planet sized chorus - Is This Music? Very impressive keep an eye out for these guys - Kill The Noize A&R guys from cool indie labels should surely be sniffing around these fellows in the hope of bringing us the Next Big Thing - Ripping Tracks A fucking beautiful demo tape - The Bible Fanzine Given half a chance, deadenstereo will rip your heart out and tear it into a thousand tiny pieces - Alternative 101 Fanzine Powerful, emotive rock music with an intelligent message at its centre - www.lofimusic.co.uk

really? I'd say if someone asks you anything (politely) in any walk of life and your response is to shrug and ignore them you are guilty of inexcusably prickish behaviour. This isn't an issue about sound engineers, it's about basic politeness. Rock n roll!
-
I'm afraid we have had a similarly rubbish experience there. The soundman was quite simply a total prick. We did our soundcheck and asked him if the levels were OK, and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off! I think he may have been more used to dealing with jazz and world music (as played by toffs with pony tails). However, don't despair - you might have more luck and get a different soundman, in which case the venue itself isn't too bad. Might well come down and check out the gig anyway since we're playing with you in the 'deen in october As far as Edinburgh venues go, I'd recommend the caledonian backpackers, which has gigs promoted by baby tiger (www.baby-tiger.net). The promoters are really nice guys, and although the set up isn't technically that impressive (just a vocal PA) they have decent sound guys and the gigs usually go well. You can get quite a decent mix crowdwise, as they let the guests at the hostel in for free as well as paying customers. Failing that there's always bannermans, which is a decent size and has its own backline (handy if you're travelling from out of town) but does often suffer from poor sound. And expensive beer!

I seem to remember we won a place at our last gig.. don't tell me we've been blacklisted again! or did cuntkicker offer to take your girlfriend to the secret garden? -
Thank you very much Hopefully we can do it again sometime soon. Bring on the Moorings!
-
I would have to say that sharing a bill with Valis (fronted by Van Conner from Screaming Trees) has been my favourite gigging experience. They played a cover of 'Warriors of Ghengis Khan' by Bad News! It was truly awesome. Neil Leyton was also pretty immense in Glasgow.

Other city message boards - do they exist as such?!

there's a brand new site just started up at www.tartanunderground.com nothing much on there yet, but looks promising and is obviously looking for contributions to get it up and running. -
yeah, our new(ish) drummer Ian spends a lot of time in the gay bar brushing up on those disco beats!

Well, thank you very much and to everyone else who came along and made it a great night. Always a pleasure to play aberdeen, and the moorings is quickly becoming one of our favourite venues. We'll be back soon!
