  1. 'Yoshimi battles the pink robot' (or whatever its called) by flaming lips is probably the worst album i've ever bought. I just don't see anything redeeming or inspiring in it whatsoever. However, in reply to the first post, Jeff Beck's 'Blow by Blow' is a tremendous album, with lots to offer the listener. Provided you take LOTS of acid before attempting to digest it.
  2. craig cuntikicker sounds abusive and/or homophobic - i hope he's not! actually, i fucked his ass good last saturday night, and don't remember any complaints.. that was shortly before he was seen scaling the walls of the 'heavily fortified' scottish parliament on the day of the opening G8 protsets screaming 'worship the bull god muthafuckas!' and brandishing a whip. Did I mention we do a nice line in melodic indie rock? Anyway, the last of our stragglers will be there about half eight, but amps wil be there on time. P.S. risactonia suck. Imagine naming a metal band after a potato virus
  3. 'Flying in'?! We should be so lucky. We'll be trundling up the dual carriageway in a heavily laden motor, being subjected to Cuntkicker's I-pod all the way But we'll do it for the love of aberdeen! and fudge! Hell yeah!!
  4. hehe! I must've sent you that a good while ago. It was on our old site briefly, but is has never been available on any of our proper CDs. It comes from a gig at the Student Union in Edinburgh, one of only two occasions we have ever played a cover live (I think). I must've just stuck it on a random CD for you. So yes, it is certainly rare. As for being worth any money... how about I pay you not to let anyone else hear it?
  5. I know this might be a boring and obvious choice, but no record ever had the same effect on me (and i doubt if another record ever will) as nirvana's 'nevermind'. i probably couldn't listen to it all the way through now, and I've heard plenty of better records since, but that was the one that totally turned my head and made me re-evaluate what i thought about music, culture, life and everything else. It was just so damn exciting! This might sound like a cliche or as though i'm looking it at it with hindsight, but i remeber the opening track feeling like a bomb going off in my head. It honestly blew my mind, in a way i just can't imagine the Libertines album doing for people now. But then maybe i'm just getting old. other important records in my own little life would be Radiohead - OK Computer (haven't heard it for years!) Meat Puppets - 2, or Too High to Die (the drug addled years) Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley (ditto, and the only album that came to close to the Nevermind experience) Neil Young - all of them, really
  6. I have to say, having been nominated for a fudge award I now feel that I can retire in peace. That said, we are getting beat by Sharon from Drakes and a snotty hybrid of godawful pop punk bands. Ach well, it was always the way... 'Cuntkicker' got sacked from a call centre by the way. Metal in your ass!
  7. yeah, geffen have tons of concert footage on video, i'm sure it will all seep out eventually. anyway... Blew Aneurysm Verse Chorus Verse (the version from 'No Alternative') Sliver Serve the Servants Does the box set have 'In His Hands' on it? I seem to remember that being a pretty cool song. And 'Talk to Me' as well.
  8. dd-3's not proper looping. DD20 is real good pedal. I have a DL4 whihc I recieved yesterday. Need a couple o fdays playing aaround with it to make up my mind.
  9. Hi there, We are coming up to play the Moorings on Saturday, and Rico tells me you have a house backline that we will be able to use. I was just wondering if you could let me know what this backline consists of? Many thanks Chris deadenstereo
  10. Hey now, these are pretty damn good! The 'woah oh!' type backing vocals on the first track are superb
  11. wow, there are actually some tracks i haven't heard on there. I was expecting something a little more half-assed, but this looks quite interesting. I notice the track 'Old Age' on there, presumably the same song that appeared on Hole's rarities record credited to Courtney. tsk! That song 'Beans' is fundamentally insane by the way.
  12. Jesus. Sorry folks, think Craig's been on a late night drinking/ internet binge again Just to clear up, Neil Leyton is fucking brilliant and the Aberdeen gig will be awesome. The Edinburgh gig was lame though, more to do with the lack of an audience than anything else though. And why no Radio Lucifer?
  13. that does it maxi! I'm gonna grill you and eat your face
  14. It was *quick mental calculation* sometime last century! Winter of 1995, perhaps.
  15. The chorus is very similar to Clutch. Weird statement, but go and listen to it and imagine Neil Falon singing and you'll see what I mean. I must say, i think they're kind of shit though..
  16. The Mighty Human Generator and Wonderboy played at the first local gig I ever went to. I was fifteen, the venue was the Cafe Continental in Peterhead, and I made myself ill drinking Newcastle brown Ale. Ah, happy days. I still have a Mighty Human Generator EP, and a sticker on my guitar strap...
  17. Kyuss. I'd crawl through a sewer to see them. Soundgarden and Frank Zappa also spring to mind. And Nirvana. Oh, and the Beach Boys!
  18. 35?! To see REM? That's fucking criminal.
  19. The steve albini article is called 'Some of Your Friends are Already this Fucked', I think.
  20. Lost Prophets, by a country mile. I can't stand them. They just seem so fake, and that 'Burn, Burn' thing was one of the worst songs (and videos) I've encountered in a long while. And yes, they do indeed shamelessly rip off Adamski. As well as churning out diluted, insipid, powerless rock music with an MTV friendly image to match. Foo Fighters have, in my opinion, been responsible for some great records, though they haven't released anything particularly inspiring for some time. The first album and parts of the second are touched with genius, and 'Everlong' is one of the finest songs of the 1990s for me, and reminds me of being 15 Kind of a strange comparison to offer in the first place though, i thought.
  21. that said, if you do want to pay for it, it's still available on a split single in one up. But why bother eh?
  22. That's good going Mr Simpson! I'd strongly recommend this CD to anyone, regardless of your usual musical leanings.. I was listening to my copy just the other day, it always sounds refreshing and is packed with great songs and ideas. That's a good wee bonus offer as well. Must get around to working out how many Cds we've shifted at some point. We generally just give loads to shops and internet sites then forget to check up on them
  23. Hey chris - if you could send those photos to deadenstereo@hotmail.com that would be much appreciated. Cheers!
  24. hmmm.. this is a tricky one. I still haven't gotten round to hearing some of the newer bands (dedalus, real shocks etc.). Living in Edinburgh doesn't help! some older aberdeen band songs i like; Deadloss Superstar - Wall of Skin Ian Simpson - It's A Beautiful World Risactonia - Rewired! Nero - Girls with Cellos Sidca - Angel Wings Maple - Dangerous Boy (an obvious choice, sorry!) The Radio Lucifer song with 'Whoah-Oh!' type backing harmonies was sounding cool, would like to hear it recorded. Also, the Seven Stone Under and WBL songs on Fudge CD 7 are cool, though i've forgotten the names...
