  1. Can these raw tracks be mixed by anyone at home or do you need specialised equipment/software? Can you just record the mix onto 2-track? Just thought I'd ask before everone else does.
  2. I think the date of Sept 11 for the next Drummonds gig is wrong. Kloth Monkey are, as far as I'm aware, booked to play that date (it's a Saturday) although there is a rumour that they're not. Charity gigs are generally not held on Fridays/Saturdays as well, which adds to my confusion. Any idea what's happening anyone?
  3. It is, the real trick lies in tuning the open strings slightly off using the super-wizzo patented and copyrighted tuner setting. To tell you the truth I'm not sure the nut is entirely necessary, maybe for the settings on the tuner as it is but I don't see why you couldn't apply the same principles with a standard nut. Except of course you wouldn't really have anything to sell then.
  4. This is a superb insight into the world of major label recording. A blog but now a book if I've read it right. Look here:http://www.prosoundweb.com/recording/mm/ for all you didn't want to believe about major label releases.
  5. Since this isn't the LT forum and I don't book the bands, RAAR at drummonds on 28 Aug with [cayto], 28 and stuka, 2.
  6. Why does that make them good/cool/listenable?
  7. DI boxes, wether active or passive, are purely to balance the signal. Impedance matching shouldn't be much of a problem nowadays. Most DI boxes can be used in an FX loop and have sufficient padding to be used on a speaker out as well. With short multicore runs the balancing isn't so much for signal degradation but noise rejection. Oh, and they're NOT preamps. If they were they'd be called preamps and not direct injection boxes. They're an interface.
  8. Rune, why don't you accept the fact that the music you like will never be popular, you live in a consumer society ,and should be proud of the fact that you aren't sucked in by the constant media onslaught of recycled shit. Revel in the fact that you're music isn't popular and is'nt played everywhere, cos that normally means it's mass produced bollocks for the cattle/sheep/general public* *delete as appropriate. Basically, shut the fuck up and enjoy the fact you're not "normal".
  9. I don't get out of my cave much therefore I've missed all the paracetamol adverts. I'll give you a simple equation that my mate Ug chiselled down for me the other day though. more popular the band/genre=more media coverage of band/genre. Clever caveman that Ug.
  10. Relative to what? Not having a dig, just interested in who/what you're informed better than.
  11. Either borrow one from a friend or buy a dirt cheap second hand one, as long as it works. After a few months playing you'll be in a better position to judge for yourself wether you need a decent bass of your own and if so, what you want from it. p.s. I've got a fretless lying about doing nothing which I may part with if anyone has a use for it. PM's if interested.
  12. I forgot to add that there's a couple of members of Yellow Sundays in them, which was the point really. I'm sure your paths will have crossed at some point.
