we use sfh. they're good, and helpful. 500 black vinyls with sleeves is about £760, including overs, VAT, delivery (if you ask for 500, you'll probably always get 525, and you have to pay for the extra).
from what i can remember, the only publishing deal lift had was a 'single song assignment' (or something) for the 3 tracks on that lithium records single... unless they got something afterwards i don't know about...
aye, i'm guessing most will take more than 25% tho... for the xbox thing, microsoft just called us out of the blue. we have all our contact details on our myspazz. 'soccer am' called tonite too and we've never sent them anything. w00t. i can send you microsoft contact if you want... they were gonna use the band on a driving game (shock) but it just fell thru at the last minute... would've got over 2,000 for it. bah.
sony, bmg etc plus smaller companies like reverb, and perfect songs (trevor horn's company). there are loads of them. there's a new one in brighton we met up with last week and they said they pitch for tv commercials, video game soundtracks etc and if they get you something, they take 25%, which is probably less than most... although they wanted an exclusive contract for a year (going to send it to our lawyer to check over).
how are any of these success stories? I saw The Aeroplanes play to 15 people in a 300 capacity venue in London about 2 months ago. for the record, Fans Of Kate have a new line-up/different songs now and are now called New Adventures.
i'm bumped into the needles when they were out flyposting in trendy shoreditch last week. i did a double take and had to remind myself what city i was in.
lol... thanks for taking care of that jamesy. you actually wrote about 3 out of the 4 bands i was gonna write about, so i wasn't far off the mark innit! (it's the venues bit i would've struggled on)
i remember that interview. is there anything which DOESN'T make Roger Waters feel 'really gloomy'? what a cheery fellow! i don't really care what Orson bloke's background is. you don't have to have travelled round in a transit van for months to make your band any more justified. Orson probably still would've been shite if they'd gone down that route.
why yes. if you're not doing anything on june 26th then come to my gig. @ nambucca, holloway road (10 mins from either holloway road or archway stations) THE FAR CRIES (www.myspace.com/thefarcries) IDIOT SAVANT (www.myspace.com/idiotsavantbanduk) POPULAR WORKSHOP (www.myspace.com/popularworkshop) it's only 3. and the bar is cheap (for north london): 2 for carling, 2.40 for fosters. and stuff. ok, plug over.
