  1. Fish Freddie Mercury Bruce Dickinson Joe Elliott Ray WIlson Steve Hogarth Jo McCafferty (when she'd pissed ) loads of good ones... Cheers Stuart
  2. You're making a habit of being astonished It does surprise me that people don't rate PC's drumming more, he's a phenomenal drummer, you just need to hear some of the stuff he did with PG era Genesis to see the guy can drum !! Cheers Stuart
  3. Phil Collins is a superb drummer, I'm not a fan of his singing but as a drummer he really is one of the best in the world, I'd ceratinly rate him in the top 10 drummers in the world alongside Cozy Powell, Rick Allen and various others... Cheers Stuart
  4. Script for a Jester's Tear - Marillion Internal Exile - Fish Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morisette Hotel California - The Eagles Gordon - Barenaked Ladies Loudmouth - Boomtown Rats and Bob Geldof Cheers Stuart
  5. Why astonished ? I genuinely thought he did a great set, loved 'Band on the run' and the Beatles classics, he gave the fans what bands should do at festival setc imho a greatest hits set. The Beatles were a ground breaking band and when you have bands like Oasis ripping them off left, right and centre then it's great to see an original member getting up there and showing that he could still do it... Cheers Stuart
  6. I thought Macca's set was superb, he gave the audience what they wanted and showed that he still has it, tbh out of evertything I saw on TV he was the only one I'd have wanted to see live... Cheers Stuart
  7. Jo McCafferty: 'Papercuts and Lime' Launch Gig I'm pleased to announce that Jo McCafferty will be holding a launch gig for her new album 'Papercuts and Lime' on Sunday the 4th July at Dr Drakes . The gig will be a free show. The support for the evening will be Emma Forman, and for anyone who hasn't heard her you're in for a real treat. Jo will be playing a full set and the album will be available 1 day before official release, we will also have the CD Version of Nothing Whispered to Katy and Games for One available. There will also be new 'Papercuts and Lime' T-shirts available at the show. It should be a special night and with 'Papercuts and Lime' already getting a lot of interest from radio stations and magazines, this is a great chance to hear some of the tracks live. Hope to see you there, should be a rgeta night, 2 of the best acoustic artists out there... Cheers Stuart
  8. Yes and No, I agree that some extra coverage is good, but the problem is there are a lot of bands who aren't as good as others that feel they'd deserve equal billing with the bands that are out there doing things like the late PAGG or Jo. I agree that to miss out on coveriung some of the best local acts and to cover things like the article in question is stupid but it's lazy journalism and it's not just an Aberdeen Journals thing, when was the last time that the Daily Record covered an up and coming band, it's a general journalism thing. I also do think that if people are coming up with something interesting enough and are part of the 'target market' that the journals is aimed towards then they will get mentioned. I do think it's bad that bands like PAGG's tour with the Wildhearts wasn't copvered, but I'm hardly surprised, They may have been a top 20 act, but the general public doesn't know who they are, the rock buying public do. Maybe the reason we've had success is we only ever send out press releases when we have something genuinely interesting to the general public, not just to our fanbase. You can't expect coverage for every gig, but when you get a decent tour, I think it's fair to expect something, but it must be something you've earned if that makes sense. I think ots important the bands realise that. Cheers Stuart
  9. If ypu want things like the Press and Journal, Evening Express to do a peice on local music then get the music to them, invite them to gig, send them press releases when something big happens, phone them up when there's an event. Sometimes you'll get success, sometimes you won't. These people will not come for you, you have to go to them !! I've managed to get quite good coverage for the act I manage including several pieces, and even a full page interview in the Evening Express. It's about approaching them and doing it professionally, send out your demo with professional photo's and a well written press release. Don't treat them like the bad guy's because they don't show do a piece on your band, they won't do everything, but they might do more. Maybe the reason that sometimes they're not doing a piece on every band is because they don't see something newsworthy about every band, they won't do a piece on your band unless there's a reason for it !! Cheers Stuart
  10. Just wondering who's coming here to the Marillion show in Galshgow, I know a few people are going, should be a giood gig and if anyone's up for a meet before the gig, a bunch of fans usually meet up throughout the day at venues and have a few druinkies before the gig. I'm still undecided on Marbles as anm album, so hopefully seeing it live will convince me... There are some superb tracks, but it doesn't gel as well as I'd hoped it would. If the show's as good as the last Scottish Marillion show i saw, TSE Tour in 97 it should be a good one... Cheers Stuart

  13. True, I wouldn't H on that guy from Marillion if he was on fire just doesn't work On a similar note will you be attending the Marillion Minehead extravaganza next March ? Looks superb !! There may even be an Aberdeen band playing Cheers Stuart
  14. Not true, Edinburgh has a phenomenal acoustic scene, people like Johnny Dread, Graeme Mearns and Julie King, alsopeople like Holly Tomas etc, maybe not a great rock scene, but a very strong scene iinother ways. Cheers Stuart
  15. Marillion. Meat Loaf, Morrissey, Mott the Hoople, and Mott
  16. Nice to see Aziz playing, phenomenal guitarist, and nice bloke. For those that haven't seen him he plays with ian Brown, replaced John Squire in the Stone Roses, and plays some brilliant Indian tinged guitar work, he works with a superb tabla player called Dal Singh. For fun he plays in Steve Hogarth from marillion's solo band and rates as one of the most impressive guitarists I've ever seen. Cheers Stuart

    Enya

Well I like Enya, completely love Dido's stuff, think it's superb and I'd say that I like music... Surely more a case of " Music that's commercially liked therefore 99% of music snobs must hate it on principle" Cheers Stuart
  18. In the modern music world, it ould be argued that the manager is as important as the band, in a lot of cases more so. Although I'm billed as the manager, I'm also involved in the other aspects of the band, such as helping with the music, and co-production with Emma and Blair. The point of the project was to take 3 people with different skills, and see what could happen, each person on the project can veto any of it at any time, also an unusual thing for a manager to be able to do. Emma sings, produces and writes. Blair is primarily production and playing, but has got involved in the songwritingmore and more I am PR/Marketing/Production and have an input into the musical side too. It was decided when we started this project to give everyone equal billing, and of course I'll be playing the kazoo Cheers Stuart
  19. The vocals are very rough but we're hoping to finish the 4 track final demo within the next few months - Blair's just made a vocal booth in his studio. Sadly as Blair, the producer runs his own business he's away a lot so the work has slowed up. Glad the feedback's good, we will be finishing another demo track in the next few days. Emma will be recording some new vocals for these tracks and they'll be mixed and put together, I'm expecting very impressive things of them. Blair is a superb producer and mixed with Emma's great vocals these should be superb tracks, we'll then be approaching both labels and distributers as we finish the album. The kazoos and kangaroos come from the proposed name of the album. Baby Karma - Enigma : A True Fable of Kazoos and Kangaroos This is partly due to my belife that there's not a rock song in the world that couldn't be improved with the aid of a kazoo Cheers Stuart
  20. Posting to announce the new Baby Karma website. For those who don't know Baby Karma is the new project by local singer Emma Forman. This is not a finished site but will give people some idea of what we're trying to do. Baby Karma Website We have also included a new song, this is a demo of a very poppy song called Times of Trouble, this is unmixed with guide vocals, but gives an idea of where the pop aspect of the band lie. Times of Trouble demo MP3 I would love some feedback on the track. The project is a rock and pop project. Looking forward to some constructive comments and feedback. Cheers Stuart
