Everything posted by Neil

  1. 100 PMs max for regular members, unlimited for Supporters/Sponsors and Staff.
  2. No, it's not supported. And it wasn't on the old forums either (it was a third-party addon that added that feature). The Soundcloud link embedding was improved recently but unfortunately it looks like it has reduced any originally posted Soundcloud links to just that - links. They can be manually edited and re-posted though. I've manually edited the link in your signature and that seems to have fixed it (you just copy and paste the Soundcloud link back in to fix).
  3. Not any time soon unfortunately and people should be putting the venue in the title anyway as a matter of course. Or at the very least, in the body of the event.
  4. If you are looking for an external hard drive just for backup purposes and you've got a decent Internet connection at home/work etc then you might want to consider backing up to the cloud instead (e.g. Dropbox, Box, Amazon S3 etc.) It's much cheaper, more secure and avoids the false feeling of security that using an external USB drive gives like Chris points out. The only inconvenience is that you need an Internet connection to backup/restore, but if it's for stuff you won't be accessing often then this usually isn't a problem.
  5. Yeah, it is. But it's the only pub I can think of on George Square.
  6. Seconded. Rab Ha's in the Merchant City is worth a visit too.
  7. Umm...I think you might be reading just a bit too much into that post. The reason I posted it publicly rather than via a PM was just to serve as a warning to everyone else as well (cross-posting is bad, m'kay?). I can only apologise if my post came across as "douchey" to you (or indeed Tom for that matter) - it was certainly not my intent.
  8. It's fine this time, just don't make a habit of it. Just concerned the News & Announcements forum is slowly turning into the Lockah forum.
  9. Less of the cross-posting please. This is starting to get tiresome and if it continues I'm just going to start removing some of these posts.
  10. I seem to recall that the reason 3's network coverage can be patchy is because they only provide 3G services and no 2G network to fall back on.
  11. All your notification options can be found here: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications
  12. Yeah, everyone will - just added them back in. Don't worry, should get it fixed tonight. Just ignore them for now.
  13. In short, no this can't be resolved. This is always going to be a possibility if you block some users.
  14. I'm afraid so. You can block/ignore them again though.
  15. Technical consultant. 8.30am - 5pm Mon - Fri normally with paid or unpaid overtime depending on the customer/contract. Could do the flexitime thing but I can't be bothered trying to keep track of all my hours. Could work from home as well if it wasn't for the nature of most of my work.
  16. Some further tweaks made today: Members can now store up to 100 PMs (was 50 previously). Supporters and sponsors continue to have unlimited PM capacity. For those allowed signatures (staff, sponsors, supporters) the following limits are now in place:Max of 1 image in signature with no image larger in dimension of 600px in width and 150px in height. No more than 6 links in a signature.Signature cannot have more than 25 lines. For those allowed to change their Display Name (sponsors and supporters) it can now only be changed once every 30 days.I'll look into adding/changing the smilies as well.
  17. No, they won't get notified. You're just linking to their profile page.
  18. No, I'm afraid there is no option for this at present. All your notification settings can be found on this page: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications I'll maybe limit the Display Name changes to 1 a month thinking about it.
  19. Okay, sorry but this has got to be nonsense. Where in EU human rights legislation does it say people have right to be able to send personal e-mails in the workplace? For the record, I've got nothing against this either. Hell, I'm posting this from work afterall. But I can't believe for a second that this is now a human right. Presumably it's also a human right to have a computer and a connection to the Internet as well?!
  20. Find some for me and I'll be happy to add them to the site.
