  1. As you may be aware, we previously had a Supporters Scheme where frequent users of the web site could decide to make a small monthly donation to the web site in order to help cover our running costs. This scheme is still active and has now been updated to reflect the change in features available through the web site. For the new lower price of only £2 a month this optional account upgrade entitles you to the following benefits: All advertisements on the web site are removed. Add and customise a signature on all your posts. Larger avatar graphic size allowed (up to 100 KB). Attachments are allowed on personal conversation messages. Your title can be customised. Access to the exclusive Lounge forum. To become a Supporter simply access the Account Upgrades section of your profile using this link. You may have some questions about these changes. Answers to these will be compiled below: Q: I'm currently an active Supporter paying £3.00 a month. How do these changes effect me? A: You will automatically have the benefits described above applied to your account. You can either continue to pay £3.00 a month or you can cancel your current Supporter subscription from within PayPal and then re-subscribe for £2.00 a month using this link. Q: I previously set a signature but I'm not a Supporter and so can no longer edit it even though it's still being displayed on all my posts. How can I have changes made to it or have it removed? A: If you were a supporter previously then you may already have a signature set. Unless you are an active supporter now you will no longer be able to edit this signature. If this is the case and you wish to now have your signature removed then please contact me. Q: I wish to pay to display my own advertisements and/or have my own forum on the web site. Is this still possible? A: Yes, it is. Please contact me for further details and prices. In time, information about what advertising options exist will be published on the web site under the Help section.
  2. I think they're fine the way they are to be honest.

Yeah, use it quite frequently. If you're looking for a new job (esp. if you're a contractor) then it's pretty useful. I got my current job via contact through the site.
  5. Are you logged into the web site when you're on your iPhone?
  6. If you are logged into the web site (be it on an iPhone or other) then you shouldn't see any ads if you are Supporter. Can you try turning the AdBlock software off to see if you still see ads?
  7. You shouldn't be seeing the ads. Is that still the case? There will be an announcement regarding the Supporter member level status very soon.
  8. I will be putting up a page about this soon but I need to first work out a new mechanism for delivering non-Google AdSense ads and then decide on the prices (which will be lower than before thankfully). Keep an eye out.
  9. No, it won't. The site works just fine on my Android phone so I don't really think this is required in the Smartphone & 3G age we find ourselves in.
  10. Some further improvements: Signatures (including the editing thereof) is now available to all registered members. Supporters/Sponsors will still have additional benefits though - these are TBC. Additional BBCodes have been added including the Spoiler tag - full details here: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/help/bb-codes New "dark" user interface style has been added but probably needs further tweaking. To change styles just click on the Light Style at the bottom left of the page. You should all now also be able to reply to this thread. Comments welcome as always. P.S. Ad banners will be coming back by the way - sorry!
  11. All, If you are reading this post then you are successfully accessing the new version of the web site! As you can see, much has changed. This is the most significant upgrade the web site has probably ever had in it's history and so there is a lot of new features and changes to get used to and play around with. Please explore the new site and if you have any questions or problems then please either reply to this thread of post them in the Technical Problems forum. I am still anticipating the requirement to make a number of other minor changes and tweaks before everything is running smoothly. Have fun!
  12. All, In a few days this web site will be replaced with a completely different set of software and the following sections of the site as you know them will be permanently deleted: - Arcade - Articles & Band Profiles - Galleries - Links Directory - Jukebox - Venues - What's On? If you have any content in the sections of the site above that you wish to keep then please save and download this before Saturday, 3rd of September. It will not be possible to access this content shortly after that date and we will not be held liable.
  13. I'm on the Icelandair flight out of Glasgow airport at 12.00. It's just got to stay open long enough for that to fly out! Knowing my luck, I'll get to Iceland and Katla will then blow her top and trap me there for 6 months.
  14. Want to hear my tale of woe? I need to get to Portland, Maine by Sunday...to get married. I'm becoming increasing convinced I'm basically fucked (my bride is already over there - she went over a week before).
  15. If you don't fancy doing all the homework and watching of individual stocks then you could do worse than an index tracking ISA. e.g: Index Tracking ISAs - The basics - Legal & General Last year you could get a few bargain banking stocks. Maybe even some still around just now - it's been awhile since I looked. Backing the right tech and bio stocks is a good bet as well. I'd imagine you could get a good bargain on airline stocks right now (assuming you think things will get better eventually!). BA, KLM might be worth a punt. You usually get discounts on their tickets as well as a shareholder - a perk not often advertised.
  16. Because Arsenal and Man Utd aren't English football teams? Why do you care?
  17. This is a good idea actually, I'll see about getting the sub-forum created. Thanks.
  18. Good find. I'm suspecting they aren't Mac compatible. I'm downloading Tiberian Sun just now so we'll see how that plays with Win7 64bit. I'm hoping it will run fine under the Windows XP compatibility mode.
  19. Yeah, I know. I'm all talk no action. Sorry, working in the Middle East just now and so haven't really been able to put the time in to get this properly finished and my Internet access is somewhat unreliable. I'll get it done soon though...hopefully!
  20. They will however be playing most of their games at altitude (all games except those played at Capetown are up over 1500m I think). That's got to favour the South American teams I would have thought. Edit: And South Africa presumably!
  21. I miss the bottles of K cider and "Dangerous" Dave Dixon being the friendly barman. Good days.
  22. If you're prepared to look beyond the UK - Roskilde! I can second Reading as well. Definitely my favourite UK festival.
  23. IIRC, he wasn't actually banned. He just asked for his account to be deleted and he stopped using the web site. Could be wrong mind you, it was years ago.
