fatboy
Looking forward to this, been reading lots of theories and stuff regarding the plot since they announced the film last yearDo you think ridley scott making a prequel is better than someone else trying to "remake" the original. I dohowever I feel I will be disappointed somehow when I go see it.
The Milner
Thing is its not really a prequel is it? Its loosely based on the Aliens series, but not a prequel to the first Alien film, from what i've read anyway.Still could be good if Ridley has found his touch again. fatboy
there is debates of if it is or not.the film is set before the first alien film and doesn't contain any aliens so to speak, but is still set in the same universe/timeline apparently and is meant to link up the origin of "aliens" and the space jockey from Alien
Surfer_Rosa
Nah, I'm pretty sure it is a prequel. Look at 1:37 and around 2:
fatboy
yes it is, but not a direct prequel according to Scott
The Milner
According to this its not really a prequel but as fatboy says kinda set in the same universe as the Aliens films, im 99% sure i saw an interview with one of the birds in it and she said the same thing.http://sciencefiction.com/2011/12/04/is-prometheus-a-prequel-to-alien/From what i gather it was started purely as an Alien prequel but has developed into its own story with hints of Aliens mixed in. fatboy
yes this is truefor example the ship you see crash land in the trailer of prometheus looks the same as the derelict ship in ALIEN but it isn't the hull has a different shape. Flights
Prequel's can be a wee bit dodgy. As long it doesn't throw up things that contradict later events it should be all good though!
The Milner
Is that ship suppose to be a Predator ship? I know bits and pieces of overall story, but its quite hard to put all the bits together after Ridley sold off the rights. Aliens were bred by Predator's yes? fatboy
nah, in the AvP reboot predators used Aliens to train themselves, but they did not engineers the aliens.theorist claim the and the space jockeys are responsible for engineering the aliens. This is what i think the film will be about, we will find out about how the alien was created. The Milner
now im confused lol i had though the predators bread the aliens so they could hunt them, hence the whole AVP films, the first one suggest the predators were responsible for the aliens on earth.........
fatboy
The were responsible for the aliens being on earth in that film by breeding them in for hunting that underground temple.but they are not responsible for engineering the alien. Skubbs
I cannot fucking wait!!! From what I gather, it's a "how it all began" so not a direct prequel, but linked enough that you learn a bit more about the origin of the aliens. Is there not a rumour going about of a sequel being planned already?
fatboy
so... what did you think?
Woodsinho
It was better than AvP so that's something.
Murrr
It was alright until the ending, which was complete shit. Built absolutely no intrigue for the next film (I assume they're making a sequel, otherwise it's one of the worst endings I've ever seen). The ideas definitely exceeded the writing, which was just rubbish. They did absolutely nothing to make me care about any of the characters, except Shaw and David. I liked Janek as well, but only because he's Stringer Bell. There was a lot of tacked-on shit and the film's major events were bridged together like a bad Lost storyline, which is hardly surprising given the lead writer. Ugh. The shit with Weyland/Vickers, for example. If you're gonna include something like that then I think you need to invest more than 5 minutes into it. Otherwise why include it at all? Filler, filler, filler. The film could've benefited from being 20-30 minutes longer I think. I enjoy "dusty" endings and not being spoonfed answers, but Prometheus, if anything, just felt half-arsed. On the plus side, Fassbender was immense and the film looked gorgeous. The ideas are excellent and the trailer made it look like the BEST FILM, but it didn't deliver for me. So disappointed. Gypsum_Fantastic
It wasn't that bad but I have a few questions that I need answered and I don't think a sequel will answer them as Scott has said if there is a sequel it will go even further away from Alien. Not a bad film though but very very very high expectations let it down.
Skubbs
I enjoyed it, but at the end I felt cheated of the "wow" that I've been expecting for all these months... the caesarian scene was horrific though! Thoroughly enjoyed that
