Hi punkers if you could see a punk covers band on a Wednesday night,would you prefer a Sex Pistols tribute or a band playing Heartbreakers,New York Dolls,Ramones,The Damned,The Ruts,The Sex Pistols,SLF,The Jam,The Clash,999,The Buzzcocks,Devo,The Mekons,Chelsea,Dead Boys,Rezillos,Undertones etc,etc?

Anyone with an interest in old school punk out there?.

Anyone up for seeing either of these bands?.

Dave reckons the greatest band ever is The Ruts so I guess that he'd say the variety as well but I'd definitely go for that :)

A great band indeed. Their album The Crack is a classic for sure.

But I reckon these young whipper snappers need to be shown what punk REALLY sounded like.

No matter what you do, it wont sound like "punk REALLY sounded like" back then anyway, it'll just be a sad imitation! :moody:

It depresses me greatly that there are so many tribute bands on the go.

Yeah, I've never really understood the point of tribute acts.

the point

the point of 16 again is to have a laugh and remind or enlighen folk that there were some very good tunes being played by bands who never got a crack at being rich and famous.

Our set list is a cracker, who else is gonna play songs by The Ruts, Buzzcocks, etc etc ?

just no. i hate this attitude of punk elitism, i mean it comes from both sides, i.e the fans of old, feel superior to the fans of new, and vice versa.

why not embrace both sounds? afterall is it not the content that matters? the conviction in the song etc? and i can't understand how a band playing all covers exactly the way the songs were written can have as much conviction to the music as those who played it that way first.

but yeah i'd rather see the band playing various bands songs

You get to start your own arguments now?

Hot damn,

I've been doing that for a while. Who else in the band would debate the terrifying qualities of Boohbah?

Me, that's who.

Word to your mother.

Ice, Ice, Baby.

no she dont (despite me being the lord god of nothingness)

i only suggest stuff these days and the Flava then proceeds to warp / de-define / re-invent to suit her own definition of synthage

like two little robot john lennons made in taiwan we are....with not a MacArtney droid in sight

leaving me to concentrate on that wooden thing that plugs into a fuzzbox

and we definately repackaged a Devo riff for 3D Model ....see us in court

kelly osborne has a mans penis

as opposed to a womans penis I mean

and a cock for a heed

Im worried about this 'rift' thing though

It's almost the same sound. :D
