Jeanette
The lightbulb in my lamp has blown and when I went to change it the glass bit came away from the metal bit and it's stuck.Anybody got any ideas on how to remove the metal bit?! It's a bayonet fitting so I can't even try and unscrew it.

Captain America
Pliers. You should be able to get a good enough hold of the metal bit to push down and twist to get it out?
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Pliers. You should be able to get a good enough hold of the metal bit to push down and twist to get it out?Pliers sound like a good bet to me. And it may be stupidly obvious, but don't have it plugged in or anything!
Nev
One of the bulbs hanging from my ceiling exploded a couple of years back, leaving the bayonet cap stuck in the fitting. We ended up having to change the fitting, which was fun - especially as my flatmate was a wuss and left me, a midget, to play with the electrics. He's still in the flat and I've had no complaints yet
Jeanette
And it may be stupidly obvious, but don't have it plugged in or anything! Haha. Thanks for that... It's unplugged or I wouldn't be typing this. It's the lamp or the laptop! Haha.I'll give pliers a try. I'll need to go buy some first. That and two different screwdrivers.

That and two different screwdrivers.Could do, but I think, from the local hardware shop, a pair would cost a couple of pounds and that way I'd never have to ask again! Ha.Yeah, I've got a hammer and a couple of screwdrivers but no pliers!
Frosty Jack
a broom handle or similar? preferably wrapped in masking tape or gaffa tape, then shoved into the metal bit so you can push it in, and turn.
Le Stu
Really, what you need is a wad of 'matter.'Something a wee bit squidgy but still with form. Stick it in there and gain the necessary traction. It's probably not blutak or a bunch of toilet roll, BTW.**but something inbetween!
