Stuck lightbulb

Recommended Posts

The lightbulb in my lamp has blown and when I went to change it the glass bit came away from the metal bit and it's stuck.

Anybody got any ideas on how to remove the metal bit?! It's a bayonet fitting so I can't even try and unscrew it.

:(

Hey,

Been there before.. in the end I had to buy a new lamp trust me..simpler and you won't rip your fingers to shreds trying to get it out.

It's not my lamp though... It's my landlords!

Apparently the potato thing isn't a good idea because of the moisture in the potato.

One of the bulbs hanging from my ceiling exploded a couple of years back, leaving the bayonet cap stuck in the fitting. We ended up having to change the fitting, which was fun - especially as my flatmate was a wuss and left me, a midget, to play with the electrics.

He's still in the flat and I've had no complaints yet

And it may be stupidly obvious, but don't have it plugged in or anything! :p

Haha. Thanks for that... It's unplugged or I wouldn't be typing this. It's the lamp or the laptop! Haha.

I'll give pliers a try. I'll need to go buy some first.

You not maybe ask your neighbours if they have a pair?

I'm sure someone will. It's like one of only 3 tools I own in my flat. That and two different screwdrivers.

Could do, but I think, from the local hardware shop, a pair would cost a couple of pounds and that way I'd never have to ask again! Ha.

Yeah, I've got a hammer and a couple of screwdrivers but no pliers!

Really, what you need is a wad of 'matter.'

Something a wee bit squidgy but still with form. Stick it in there and gain the necessary traction. It's probably not blutak or a bunch of toilet roll, BTW.*

*but something inbetween!
