The Kernel Loaf
My flatmate got the three flashing lights on his 360 and we couldn't turn it on for months. Then today I saw this: Watch the top videoWe actually tried it, and it fucking worked! Saves the hassle of sending it to Microsoft for quite a while.Anyone else had/done this?
framheim
so how does that work then?
The Kernel Loaf
so how does that work then?Wrap the 360 in two towels and then switch it on.You leave it for about 15 mins, then switch it off and then on again (or leave it for 10 minutes but we didn't have to do that). Then the game should boot up. R.Borlax
i think its something to do with cutting off the vents but im just a gynaecologist
framheim
surely cutting off the air circulation is a bad thing though? crazy. it's something to bear in mind though even if i can't get my head round how it works.
Teabags
it should work because the 3 red lights mean that there are cracks in the solder traces on the motherboard meaning if you wrapped it up in a towel restricting the airflow it will get really hot and hopefully melt the solder traces on the board back to the normal state. but about a day after it will do it again.there you go. ZeromiserY
i thought it was something to do with a soft' reset teabags? as in, when the 360 reaches a certain temperature it resets to try and fix whatever fault is causing it to overheat (its a smart machine but it doesnt know its wrapped in a towel.)when it resets it usually clears whatever little bug is causing the error. Teabags
no fucking clue. i just typed "towel trick explanation" into google, and thats what came out.your idea does seem to be just as likely though.

ZeromiserY
It doesn't reset. We had to do it manually.the cpu resets the software settings causing the error. the machine itself doesnt restart on its own.probably still a good idea to send it off anyway. warranty doesnt last forever. MattJimF
There are different types of error, and the three red rings has different causes and solutions, there is a guide to the errors here
McGoatski
Someone should have told this kid you don`t need to give it a bath before you wrap it in towels.LiveLeak.com - Boy Nearly Killed Trying To Cool Xbox
