ipod problems

If you haven't already, try pressing down the centre button and the play button for about ten secs, or the centre button and the menu button.

It happened to mine and sadly it meant mine had crashed, Intook it to the Apple shop (rudest people I've ever encountered in a shop) and they just gave me a new one, no interest in trying to save the 5000 songs on there

UPS man came and picked up my iPod yesterday. Apple'd better get it fixed before I leave for uni. And what a cheek that I have to pay for shipping stuff when it's still under warranty, it's their own fault that they're shit.

I have a black Nano which does look pretty cool but I had to buy a cover which is green, looks okay. Even though it's rubbish I have sort of come to like it.

How long have you had your iPod? Mine didn't make a sad face, it had a picture and a URL but I don't think it was a sad 'pod. Anyway, it displayed that picture a few times and then wouldn't switch on at all so I'm guessing it's the battery (even though it was only about six months old when this happened). Might be the same thing?

Word on the street is that new iPod Nano's will be annouced on the 12th of this month. So for those of you wanting to buy one then I'd hold off for a little bit.

I'm holding out for the next revision of the Macbook. :)

do you currently have an intel one?

if so have you tried installing windows on it yet?

on a more related topic i have had my ipod for a week and no problems thusfar.

Nope, I have PCs but this Macbook I intend to buy will be my very first Mac. Being able to install Windows alongside OS X is one reason I'm taking the plunge soon so I certainly hope it works! My plan is to keep Windows XP for playing games but switch to OS X for everything else I need to do.

That was my plan with my new mac to only use windows for specialist programmes. But so far its been a pain in the ass to try and install, hopefully will be done soon though.

It is probably worth holding of till macos 10.5 though (i assume thats what you are doing).

solution - don't buy a fucking ipod. I don't know a single person who's been suckered into buying one of the white plastic pieces of shit that hasn't had to send theirs back at some point...some of them are on their 3rd + Ipods. why buy into something that you know is going to fucking break? it's like buying an alpha romeo...looks pretty cool but you'll be lucky to get it home before the piece of shit breaks down

To be fair, most electronic goods seem to do that anyway...

Phones, computers, Mp3 players, power drills. I've fucked up the lot.

Even if I had to replace mine every year that still makes it worthwhile. I'd have to carry god knows how many Cds around with me without one. They're an amazing invention.

Agreed. I was sceptical about them and only bought one last christmas. Now I can't see how I could live without it. The facility to carry hundreds of my favourite albums around in my pocket is amazing. My iPod is definitely up there with my DVD recorder/hard drive as the best bit of technology I have ever purchased.

That said, I think the point he was trying to make was that iPods seem to be unreliable compared to other MP3 players.
