threeornothing
Their recent cover of Girls Aloud on radio 1 just confirmed to me that they are absolute pishTheir latest single is a rip off aswell...and I bet they don't even know what its a rip off of, which is exactly whats wrong with them playing that sort of music when they have the mentality of a boy band.... Camie
You can't really determine a band by two songs...one of which is a cover.
threeornothing
I've gradually heard all their songs on radio 1 this week...like everything else on the station...PISH!
Camie
Fair enough then...you didn't mention that...cynical bastard!
threeornothing
Radio has killed any enjoyment music once gave me. It's rendered the past 15 years of my life void...which I take to heart. I'm not very happy right now having wasted more than half my life so I feel justified in calling every band I hate utter pish
Camie
Try some radio 2...at least the banter is better.

rowan
I agree that this whole NME, RADIO hype etc has blow out of preportion but there is a genuine good band under all that.. I dont agree with the opinion that they have Boy Band music, once you'v given the album a listen then make up your mind.

Jesus.H.Christ
The Arctic Monkeys are fine for folks who don't know any better' date=' I guess. [/quote']What do you mean by this?

Jesus.H.Christ
I mean that they're the most unoriginal band I've ever heard. There's nothing they do that hasn't already been done to death by XTC' date=' The Jam, The Teardrop Explodes, The Libertines, Razorlight, Special Needs, Thee Unstrung, The Others, etc etc. Their fans seem to think they're the second coming of Christ, but once you actually talk to the average Arctic Monkeys fan, you'll find their knowledge and interest in looking elsewhere is severely limited (and no, I'm not lumping you in with them, but this is my experience). They're nothing special. Just another band in a long line that are going to fade away once the papers have got bored with them.[/quote']Ok, thanks for explaining.I get your point, it just sounded as if you meant that all Arctic Monkeys fans have no musical knowledge of that genre. Musically and aesthetically uninspiring though. And although the lyrics are decent I'm too middle class to really relate them.

Infact, most of their fans must be middle-class to do this. How working-class is it to have Broadband?Still, they're a GOOD THING. Just not for people who think that the backing-track to a song is the be-all-and-end-all

And although the lyrics are decent I'm too middle class to really relate them.ive always thought it strange that Artic Monkeys seem so unashamedly middle class. See the lyrics to A Certain Romance - basically an attack on working class/chav culture. alex turner does seem to be a good lyricist though, but theres something about the way he sings them that annoys me a bit.
