  1. I recently stumbled across this track by Nervous Choir, an early-80s Goth band from Aberdeen. I think the music has actually aged quite well. What does everyone else think?
  2. The Vaselines must have made a few quid on royalties, though - so it wasn't all bad.
  3. Hmm, not really sure if this is experimental enough for this thread. Great track, though - from Brian Eno.
  4. You may well be right. A lot of good music has been made by dicks, though.
  5. Nirvana were/are one of the most over-rated bands of all time. Decidedly mediocre, in my opinion.
  6. A new thread for experimental music - discussion and recommendations. I'll start with an obvious one (still very good, though):
  7. Here's a rather interesting Lou Reed interview from back in the day: NB. Morrissey fans might recognise this.
  8. This is one of my favourite Fall tracks - Big New Prinz. The video is an excerpt from I am Kurious Oranj, a ballet featuring the very talented Michael Clark (from Aberdeen, incidentally) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppVuBttfgZE.
  9. It's about time there was some real punk on this thread:
  10. Truly dreadful. I'm glad that there's only 30 seconds of this available - I really couldn't have listened to any more. I'm off to play Metal Machine Music to cheer myself up.
  11. Hex Enduction Ours is WFMU's album of the day: http://www.facebook.com/wfmuradio?v=wall
  12. Looking forward to hearing this as well.
  13. Looking forward to hearing this. C30, C60, C90, Go!
  14. I await the outcome of this with dread. Meanwhile, back in happier times:
  15. That would be brilliant. The cassette revolution starts here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zb5Nk0WOF84&feature=related
  16. Interestingly enough, I've just been asked to write an article on some of the more memorable gigs I've been to. Still thinking about it, but I might mention The Jesus & Mary Chain (Venue 1986); The Cramps (Capital Theatre 1986); The Make Up (Edinburgh Venue 1999); The Pastels/Maher Shalal Hash Baz (Glasgow 13th Note 1999); Circulus (The Tunnels 2006).
  17. More of our Reverb Worship label-mates worth checking out: http://www.myspace.com/kwannon (I'm not on commission, honestly!)
  18. Did you get round to recording some lo-fi stuff, Flights?
  19. Talking of Stereolab, was it just me or was Laetitia Sadier's recent gig at the Tunnels a bit on the dull side?
  20. Felt: Felt – Absolute Classic Master Pieces Seriously, though, Lawrence was/is one of the best lyricists of all time.
  21. Last week's Electric Frog performance, available now for your listening pleasure: http://burningworld.blogspot.com/
  22. Welcome to the wonderful and frightening world of Aberdeen Music, Pin. Looking forward to forward to the new show
  23. Gosh, I hadn't heard this before. It could quite easily pass for a Stereolab track.
  24. Michael Rother's Hallogallo were great when they played Edinburgh last year. Did anyone else from here go to that one? Oh, and I really like this Amon Duul track (perhaps because it reminds me of the Fall):
  25. Great selections - the Kraftwerk clip is particularly good.
