  1. Palace of Swords are set to appear on 'Head Music', a new album of Krautrock covers due for release on the Fruits de Mer label. More details here: http://aberdeen-music.com/threads/palace-of-swords.47553/page-2 (Apologies for the shameless self-promotion)

  3. The original, by Suicide, is probably the better version. Anyway, back on topic, here's the legendary Hasil Adkins:
  4. I'm going to be in Glasgow next Thursday, so it looks as if I'm going to miss the mighty Dolfinz.
  5. Inspired by my visit to the Komet Club last night, I thought it might be a good idea to start a new thread dedicated to 50s/Rock 'n' Roll/Rockabilly music. I'll kick things off with the fantastic Gene Vincent. (Music doesn't get much better than this, surely?)
  6. Thanks for buying a copy, Free Tibet - it's very much appreciated. (I'm writing a piece for the next issue as well, incidentally.)
  7. Hooray for Dolfinz! The best guitar band in Aberdeen by some distance at the moment (even though they're from Stonehaven).
  8. I really like this track - it's brilliant! When did he play Aberdeen?
  9. Sorry, but this is a ridiculous comment to make. What is wrong, exactly, with someone promoting local music on a forum dedicated to local music?
  10. I like this one a lot. It definitely has a sort of 5am/dawn-break/after the party feel to it. From a forthcoming album/tape....
  11. Dolfinz Kitchen Cynics/Matricarians I'm not really a fan of anyone else in Aberdeen, unfortunately. (There may be some interesting new groups that I haven't heard, of course.)
  12. The magazine, Ice Cream For Quo, in which my article appears is out now. I've posted more details on the 'News and Announcements' thread.
  13. Just a quick note to say that I've contributed an article on memorable gigs (many of which were in Aberdeen) to the new edition of Ice Cream for Quo Magazine, which is out now. The magazine also features an exclusive piece by Bill Drummond, as well as features on The Monks and Kraftwerk. It's only available in a physical format - i.e there is no online version. However, it can be ordered from here: http://www.icecreamforquo.webs.com/ Thanks Peter, Palace of Swords.
  14. Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps the greatest band of all time...
  15. 70s rock doesn't get much better than this:
  16. I've just been having another listen to the songs on soundcloud - very impressed!
  17. Thanks for looking, Alan. I could send you a copy of the article when it comes out as well if you'd like. I've mentioned one or two gigs that you might have been at.
  18. One of the very few local bands doing anything interesting at the moment, in my opinion. - looking forward to hearing this.
  19. Brian Eno - wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-qpamn6H9c
  20. Excellent! Thanks for that - it's very much appreciated! I'll send you a copy of the article when it comes out.
  21. Thanks MattJimF. It was definitely some time in April 1986. It would be quite good to get the exact date, though. Anyone?
  22. I've just finished writing an article on memorable/important gigs that I've been to. One of the gigs I've mentioned is the Jesus and Mary Chain at the Venue 1986 - the one where they only played for 20 minutes or so. Does anyone know the exact date of this gig? I think it was probably April or May 1986. I have tried googling, but I can't find anything. If anyone has a ticket stub they could scan and send that would be even better. (I know this is unlikely - wishful thinking!) Thanks.
