  1. Sadly due to work our drummer is leaving Aberdeen so we need a new one. We are full of enthusiasm and have 5 or 6 new songs, and counting, in addition to those on our myspace, which I feel are probably better that what's up there already. We want to gig a lot and record this year. We are all 30 (ish) but dinna particularly care how old you are. We are a rock band so you should be a rock drummer, again we don't all like the same stuff as things stand so it doesn't matter exactly what you like but if u respect the drumming work of folk like dave grohl, matt cameron, jimmy chamberlain, danny carey and the mighty mick fleetwood then you will get my vote! Demo's of newer stuff can be provided as can a cd of the stuff on myspace. I will answer all respondees. we practice at Toms usually between 2 and 4 times a month but more when gigs are upcoming. We were a three piece when the myspace stuff was recorded but now also have a lead geetar player which has improved our sound. Cheers, The Scandal Extracts on Myspace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads 07861 442197 Dallas.
  2. Telecaster Pickup for sale. Bridge position single coil telecaster pick-up for sale. It's from my Japanese 72 custom reissue. In full working order Make me an offer. Aye.
  3. Akai Headrush II Looper for sale. As many will know this beauty also features delay and tape echo effects in one rather nice looking blue box. Comes with power lead and instructions though I don't have the original box. I need to fund a microphone purchase. Looking for 90. PM or reply if interested. cheers folks.
  4. Trigger (my friend) Jazzer Jim Bett used to do that too!
  5. So I have been reading this thread with interest! My laptop is dated, I know hee haw about computers (if there wasn't a wee sticker indicating which version of windows I am using (running...) I couldn't tell you) and I'd rather have knobs to manipulate (a bit like being in a band...) Therefore, I just bought a Boss BR 900 CD. Now.... fit kind of mic should I get and since my budget is blown, does anyone have one to sell, do I need monitors as I am hoping heid phones will do. I'll need a mic stand if anyone has one. I will only be bale to record vocals when the kids are not here and was planning on rec guitar and prob bass via a Pocket Pod or the unit's own effects. Educate me.....
  6. anyone got a ticket I can buy, or are they still available from the usual outlets?? was there in 1998 (feeling old), though I was not one of the people speaking throoughout their quieter moments......
  7. Shaki used to have a bruce springsteen rug sort of thing hanging on his wall at home! I owe him a debt of gratitude for my own appreciatation of Bruce Springsteen. When I play covers at home I play the boss, when I walk with the i-pod I don't do an i-pod shuffle I do a 'wild the innnocent and the E-street shuffle! The DVD that accompanies the anniversary release of Born to Run is amazing, the attention to detail he put into that record must have had the band and producers pulling thier hair out at times but the results speak for themselves. the live dvd also shows how amazing his band have always been and his voice as a twenty-whatever-he-was is the finest rock and roll voice ever heard! The live version of youngstown on live at new york dvd is awesome. saw him at hampden and he played for 3 hours, which at 59 is pretty impressive. Why hasn't he done a fender telecaster signature model.... anyone know? The first dance at my wedding was 'if i should fall behind (live)' Nuff said!
  8. vocalzone, a good nose blow, healthy eating, rest are all plan A. Amphetamines we'll call plan ...erm... xyz. Cheers folks!
  9. hey folks, I have a blocked up nose and tickly throat etc and have a gig this weekend. I am the singer and don't want to suck (at singing.....) remedial suggestions sought! serious and daft suggestions and anything in between but I am not daft enought to poison myself for your amusement! Cheers.
  10. Likewise sounds like great fun.... keen
  11. I was lusting after them online the other day and agree they all look cool, so far I think I would favour the jazzmaster or jag.
  12. Indeed, however I have only used it plugged in for a combined total of about 3 hours max in that time, as I don;t have an acoustic amp and seldom do acoustic gigs.
  13. Hi folks, I have a shertler blue stick (99% sure that is the right name) pickup system in my Freshman Jumbo. It doesn't work and last time I tried to use it at drummonds into a DI box then the PA it just buzzed and squeled and the sound man could not tame it. I checked freshman's website and they state that the battery it comes with it has a long life expectancy so I doubt it's that. I have had the guitar for about 18 months and as I don't do many acoustic gigs I am pretty unfamiliar with the nuances of the system, and I don;t have an acoustic amp to play with at home but clearly it needs attention! Any ideas? I know R&b stock these but I didn't get mine from there. That's right I bought it online and can't even recall the name of the retailer I got it from! Need it sorted before Oxjam!!
  14. BYOB would have been class! Gonna be a beauty like! and loud I would imagine! TSE are debuting two new members and two new songs - hurrah!!
  15. I am skint and want to record stuff before I forget it... I am reluctant to dust off the old mono tape deck in the shed so checked online and found that you can download free recording software. has anyone done this, can anyone recommend a specific programme. It needn't be hi-tec like, cos I'm nae hi-tec minded. If I need to but a mic and or any other relatively inexpensive stuff that's fine. help appreciated. Cheers
  16. Hi there, I am about to back to RGU part time and I play in The Scandal Extracts on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads we could do an acoustic set or something.
  17. Hi All, our band 'the scandal extracts' are on the lookout for a lead guitar player and keyboard player, or even better someone to do both (nae at the same time though ken....) we have recently recruited a new drummer and fancy changing up a bit and adding additional members. we are 31. 32 and 22 respectively if you're interested in that sort of thing. should ideally like stuff in the alt rock, rock, post rock and punk rock areas and be able to add their own parts including the odd, but not regular guitar solo. Hear 5 of the songs we do at The Scandal Extracts on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads and get back to me on here or on 07861 442197 Cheers, Dallas.
  18. Bought acoustic strings for my dad's geetar once from asda, they were rubbish! I did once buy a 12 pack of 'first act' plectrums which depite being about 1.75 served me well. they don't stock them now though.
  19. Hi Weird AL the scandal extracts require a new drummer. hear us at myspace.com/thescandalextracts and let us know what you think. cheers, dallas.
  20. the scandal extracts are looking for a new drummer with experience and talent. we also want a keyboard player to add to things since we are changing up anyway. ideally a keyboard player who can play guitar well too as not all the songs demand keys. have a listen at myspace.com/thescandalextracts and let us know if anyone is keen ken!!
