  1. How many vouchers do I have to buy to get you to come along to a 'Circle of Ash' rehearsal???
  2. I kown of a Chellist, his name is Hux and he has played in the Oxbow Lake Orchestra, you could try their MySpace site and leave a message there... he can also play whistles...
  3. Yeh Wayne, why don't you come along to the first jam we are going to have at the end of this month or the very start of next, it's the one Rockjammer has already mentioned. It will probably be at Musical Vision down behind Nelson Street, and it would be great if you would come along and just let fly with whatever you want to play, it will be a night of open ended jamming, with the goal of having fun, playing music together... are you up for it? Phil (I am an hitter, I hit things!) Anderson
  4. There are some great songs on John Scofields 'Uberjam' album, ones like Animal Farm and Ideofunk... I'm just listening to the new George Clinton CD, if any of these jump out at me I'll let you know... My idea would be take any song and find our way to play it with a large slice of Phunk thrown into the mix...
  5. Pass me on some MP3's of your ideas so I can have a run through before we meet up... I already know Chameleon and a few other Herbie Hancock Songs from the Headhunters, and I love stuff like the Cissy Strut by the Meters, never played it though, anything that moves along with that much groove is ripe for the picking though... Send me a PM and we can exchange e-mails and phone numbers etc... Once a mate of mine gets his hands on a Nord Keyboard to replace his exploded Yamaha, he's up for a jam too, and he can really play with good feeling... Phil
  6. Choose a few songs to get going with and I'll supply the drums, I'm working with a Jazz/Funk band and have been playing with the band Oxbow Lake at a few Festivals over the summer, but it looks like they are going back to more Folk/Roots music, so I'm on the hunt again. I normally use Musical Vision for rehearsals, if we get on well and make some good noise together, I can probably get my mate Alastair to come along, he plays Soprano and Alto Sax. There is a small clip of use with the Oxbow's at the Wizard Festival, it's on myspace. We are playing a mix of 'Bring down the Birds' by Herbie Hancock and 'Groove is in the Heart'. You could also listen to some stuff I've recorded at rehearsals with 'Circle of Ash' that's on my Bebo site. Give me a call and choose some songs... Phil
  7. nice try sir... but you must leave without your coat...
  8. Hi, I'm looking for a keyboard that has all the best Retro sounds all in one box, you know the kind of thing, Fender Rhodes, Hammond, Clavinets, Wurlitzer, Moog etc. built in reverb and echo and phazer would be a bonus. Can anyone help because our old Yamaha keyboard has gone to meet it's maker... If anyone even knows of a good make of this sort of keyboard please send me a p.m. thanks in advance, Phil
  9. sorry to butt in, but... I know I'm being pushy, but I have a Paiste Dimentions 20" Medium Ride up for grabs, it has a good voice and builds a nice wash but never gets too overpowering, the bell sounds really crisp and if you ever need a huge crash it can do that too. I've just bought a new one and this one is only a year old... no keyholing or dents...
  10. My God Sir, I never knew your timing was that good... You'll have to take off your socks and shoes to manage to count the changes from those guys... I saw them once and they were soooo tight it made my teeth hurt... all the best, Phil
  11. if you are looking for a guitar that can cope with any musical situation, then LUKE no further. Jokes aside, if you've heard of this guitar before, nuf said. I bought this guitar a few years back and it has had a quiet life locked in it's case, I wanted the best sounding guitar and then knew I could never ever play it... it is just too good for me... I'm back playing the drums and have no use for this amazing instrument anymore, really, if you play Blues, Counrty, Rock, Fusion, Pop or Metal, you will only need this guitar, it can produce so many sounds and tones, it's easy to play stays in tune even if you like using the whamy bar, the pick-ups are silent, the sustain is forever, 2 single coil and 1 humbuker EMG's, Birdseye Maple V neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Alder body... the Music Man LUKE is as close to perfection as an electric guitar can get... check it out, have a think and contact me if you want to make me an offer for it... 12. I'm out of the loop guys, you took too long to get back to me... latters Phil
  13. I have been playing more Funk/Jazz style stuff for the last couple of years, but it was always Rock and Blues music I played years before. Would you mind sending me a couple of your songs as MP3s so I can get a feel for the actual style of Blues you are playing, then we could meet up at Musical Vision or Toms for a run through, I'm involved in a band at the moment, but it is one step forward and two steps back, it is all so dificult getting 5 people in the same room at the same time, it's just too much of a logistics battle... I Need To Drum Now... Phil Anderson send me some MP3s... designit@hotmail.co.uk
  14. It is quite a heavy cymbal, and sustains after the crash, it's probable twice the weight of my Zildjian 18" cymbal... But, there is one thing to say about it, I doubt if it would ever crack, even if you were to use the heaviest sticks on the market.
  15. Well I've e-mailed the details to ECymbals down in Liverpool he's a Paiste dealer and has offered to send a flight case up for a round trip with DHL, so when I find out what he is offering I'll get back with his prices and we can see what pans out from that, the Paiste is one hell of a cymbal, and I bet you won't find a better sound out of what's on sale in the two Aberdeen shops. I have even used it once as a ride cymbal. The Ziladjin has a much more washy sound and works really well with a pair of beaters to build a strong crash...
  16. and again, what do you people think they are worth...
  17. OK so what do you people think it's worth...
  18. it's about the Firecracker Snare... Drummerboy, is that Duncan, I think I tried asking you about this before, it's just that Frosty Jack has sent me this link. If you have it give me a shout. cheers phil
  19. echo or more? what you need is a Headrush 2, I've got one of those aswell as the Ebow. It does three diferent kinds of echo, or you can loop record and overdub, hours of fun and madness, never giged, just played with a few times, I'm back to playing the Drums instead of fool'in myself into trying to be a guitarist... but I did buy all the toys... I have loads of pedals that I should sell... and guitars... more ads to write...
  20. I have a Ridgewood acoustic Bass that I never use, I think you should buy it off me and use the baby to write some new music on. I bought it a few years back from R&B Music, I just liked the sound of it, it's got a gig bag and a black leather strap. 100 and it's yours, send me a pm and we can talk... phil You know all I'll do with the money is spend it on cymbals and heads...
  21. A while back someone was advertising a Pearl Firecracker for 40, if it was you and you still have it send me a pm and I'll buy it today... and if that one is gone I am in the market for a small add-on snare, something of the size 10"x6" I don't care what colour or make it is, if you have one that you are not useing pm me...
