  3. Brass Shells (1.5mm) Rich, broad tone that's balanced and well defined. Can cut thru loud music but still maintain a good balance of brightness and warmth that work well in most musical situations. Nouveau Lugs The quick release low contact Nouveau lugs allow the shell to vibrate for a more resonant drum and wide dynamic range. The lugs allow much quicker head changes because the tension rods don't have to be removed to take the hoop off. Detachable Snare Strainer The detachable strainer and butt allow you to remove the snare wires for snare side head changes and re-attach them quickly with a single drum key screw. There is a tension indicator so that you can easily adjust your snares to the same tension when changing snare wires. The 2.3mm Dyna Hoop thick triple flange Dyna Hoops are strong, giving you precise tuning yet they allow the drum to open up. 250 complete with a 14" HARDCASE, EVANS EC Reverse Dot Batter Head and EVANS 300 Hazy Snare Head, plus PURESOUND EQ Snare Wires, spare batter head...

  7. all the Pie's are now gone... the whole set of cymbals have now sold... does anyone have a 17"/18" Paiste Traditional or Dark Energy Crash for sale?
  8. if you want Fame, the pain starts here... I've read the book and bought the T-shirt, though I never wear it... snarf... the way to gain 'absolute mastery' is only after spending hours, days, weeks, months and years of practice and playing, it's all very well walking around with your 'thumb up your arse' Oming to yourself that every note you play is perfect, but everyone knows and hears the truth, guitarist's, spend your money on new guitar strings and drummers buy a practice pad and groove the rudiments, there are no magic panaceas in this, or indeed any life. If you want to get better, work harder... oh! err! missus... Great Thread though, I think it's done the trick... thanks Bitches Brew
  9. It's not necessary but do you have any of the songs available to send to me so I can at least have a 'Heads-up' for tonight? I don't mind if they are just rough jams at the moment. designit@hotmail.co.uk
  10. I'll dig out my bag of Pie's and try to get there early to set up and tune the Tubs, what name is the room booked under so I can ask Andy or Scottie where to set-up? Phil
  11. Bongo's a go-go!!! So you are having trouble with Drummers, what a bunch they are, that said, I can't get a listen to your project 6 sounds, the myspace is playing silly buggers, but if you want to jam anytime I'll bring the Toast. The project that I've been trying to pull together over the last couple of months is now lying in taters and I think it's time to just walk away from the wreck and start again. You could send me a couple of your songs to my e-mail, designit@hotmail.co.uk and you can hear a few jams of mine on Phat Phils Phunk on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads these are from last year and it's high time to record some new stuff. Have a quick listen and give me a shout, I really need to 'Blood in' my new Hi-Hats and get out playing again... Phil
  12. what, what, what... have you got any sound recorded to have a listen too, even rough ideas... if any of it appeals I could have a word with 'Mike Rae' to see if he's up for a jam and the like... all answers to the 'Goons' on a self addresed used Fiver...
  13. cheers man... Well done sir, that's just the ticket... Keep on digging out your smashed pies please...
  14. "any old Iron, any old Iron" Yes you may well ask why I want busted cymbals sir, "there's a bit of Steptoe & Son in all of us", but it's the metal I'm after so the bigger the cymbal is the better, so I can cut out the shapes that I want to create 3D sculptures "for my garden". I started in on a few old Brass numbers that were hanging about in my workshop from a kit I bought three years back, they obviously sounded crap, so along with my second-hand welding kit that I got from Scot-Ads a while back, I cut, hammered, bent and twisted pieces and then welded them together along with some Tin sheet that was left behind by the last owners. The reason for now trying to get hold of some Bronze cymbals is that I want to include some form of sound plates and hanging chimes, and because I have no idea if it will all work yet, I don't want to order in expensive sheets of Bronze until I've proved that it's going to work and look good, I also like the idea of re-using old cymbals because as a Drummer I love the different colours of metal and the way they hold different hammer marks, and they should over time build up a great colour once they are outside. I've just started working on a 10" Stagg Splash that I used stacked on top of a 12" China, I've hammered out the Bell, so now have a flattish disc ready to go, I've got a bunch of sketches drawn up and am now searching for metal, I'm after a few from Ebay that are cracked they should be cheap metal but of course there is also the postage which will probably be the most expensive part... So I just thought there might be a few destroyed 'Pies' hanging around Aberdeen that I could use, as long as no-one is expecting huge amounts of money for the metal... And by the way, I'm not trying to get my hands on these cymbals to just Braze up the cracks or drill a hole to stop a crack running, or cut down cymbals for using on my kit, I have a full set-up of Paiste Dark Energy, Signature and Traditional cymbals that I play, so I'm not scamming some cheap metal plates for my kit... So, if anyone has got a wrecked cymbal, even if the Bands Van has driven over it, give me a shout and we can organise a time for me to buy up your old metal, as the old song went, "any old Iron, any old Iron", only now I'm after "any old Bronze"... cheers, Phil
  15. Does anyone have any Cracked, Warped, Bent or Split Cymbals that they want rid of? Preferably made of B8 Bronze Alloy rather than Brass, but anything will do for now. I'll pay cash for any ones that interest me, and I'll collect them too.
  16. everybody should buy drums... you could try getting in touch with either Andy or Scott at Musical Vision, the rehearsal rooms at Nelson Street, Aberdeen. I know they have had Pearl and Tama kits going for as little as a 100/200 recently, and they probably also know of loads of others that are on the go. I've also seen a really nice Premier kit for sale at Captain Toms for 300. In both places there are always loads of personal ads for gear aswell. Musical Vision, 01224 639800 Captain Toms, 01224 647500
  17. ho mum! that's just too much information guys...
  18. Just out on Black Water Lake when the moon is full in my boat fishing for a keyboard player who's musical interest and playing style stretches from 'I'm Old Greg' to 'We've got the Funk'... Ten minutes would be regarded as a very short song, other key points would be the ability to "never play the same thing once", and always be the first one to get a round of Baileys in, "I done some watercolours of it, it's beige"...
  19. complete cymbal set-up... 20" Paiste Signature Dimensions Ride 100 20" Paiste Signature Heavy Chinese 120 19" Paiste Signature Power Crash 120 17" Paiste Signature Mellow Crash 90 14" Paiste Signature Medium Hi-Hats 80 10" Paiste PST5 Splash 10 If you were to go for the complete set of cymbals, I'll throw in a Paiste Cymbal bag which is worth 80, an 8" Zildjian Custom A Splash cymbal, and a couple of Dixon mini boom arms, so the total is 520, but the actual value is well over three times that. They are all in excellent nick, a couple are mint condition, the most played are the Hi-Hats, hence their price. I know you said cheap, and this is as cheap as I'll go, they are all in perfect condition, no cracks/keyholes or warped, and they would be perfect for Rock/Thrash/Grunge... Louder music than I'm playing, I've kinda replaced most of them with Dark Energy and Traditional Paiste cymbals, and if you do go for them I'll be able to buy 13" Dark Energy Hi-Hats for around 360, so it's over to you, let me know your thoughts as I'm going to be putting them up on Ebay soon, and I'll be after more money from there... Phil
  20. too late everyone else, the Bass has gone...
  21. Ridgewood acoustic bass guitar, mint, comes with gig bag and leather strap 100
  22. I believe it's a 76 from looking up the serial number on the Ovations site, I also think it was one of the first guitars to offer active pick-ups, of that I'm unsure and wait to be corrected. It used to hang above the counter in R&B Music, and was a snip at 800. So is there anybody looking for a really sweet guitar that looks and sounds like no other, and with the active's on, sounds like it has built in chorus. If anyone pm's me I'll take some photos and send them direct... open to offers, as it's just sitting in it's case unloved and unplayed...
  23. too bad I can't hear your music... yeh it's a shame I can't hear what your music is all about, as I think I'm going to be free as of tonight. Your mysace is just showing that the songs are not available, going by some of your influences, I'm sure I could add some worthwhile drums and percution, ideas... if your interested send me a personal message, and I'll give you my email address to which you could send me some of your MP'3 files. I'll try the myspace again later, or you could try a Bebo site to give you some idea of my playing, these are all just from rehearsals, but they may be of some use to you, it's bebo.com - Profile from Circle of Ash <circleofash>
  24. Do you write your own lyrics aswell as being able to cover what sounds like every style known to man or beast? I'm in two bands Circle of Ash is more instrumental Jazz/Funk at the moment, but we are going to be working up a new set soon which will need a good vocalist. The other band Oxbow Lake does mainly original music, Blues/Folk but if you are able to write some music and bring in your ideas we would be very open to that. We play the Festival scene, and gigs in and around town, and over on the West Coast, Skye... send a p.m. and we can talk more... Phil
  25. as to price... Paiste Signature cymbals is what I have, but as to price... 20" Dimentions medium ride 80, 20" Chinese Heavy 90, 18" Chinese Medium 80, 10" PST5 Splash 10... 8" Accent 10... I'm not sure if any of these will be of any interest, but they are in great condition and sound great...
