  1. I haven't read a physical NME since 1993.
  2. I remember seeing them on The Word when Smells Like Teen Spirit came out and they happened to get huge at the same time everyone saw that, which probably made us feel special, I don't know. Then Nevermind came out and got played everywhere, all the time. Then my little brother and all his spaccy friends got into them and the cult of personality took over and I decided to go raving instead lol.
  3. I watched the first couple of parts but it was so poorly managed and the audience so incoherent that I gave up. It was like a div version of Question Time. I had to laugh at the woman who had a go at Annabel Goldie because she got her policy backwards. Damn those Tory scum, cutting away at pensioner's council taxes! I'm fairly sanguine about Ian Gray being First Minister, given the fiscal constraints imposed on him, and the possibility that people in Scotland might actually consider who they're voting for in future and not just the colour of their rosette.
  4. Definitely, I'll have to come back to it for the uncut version some day but four hours of film in German with subtitles (dubbing is for bitches) takes u-boat grit to watch. I also rate Full Metal Jacket, Doctor Strangelove and Catch 22.
  5. Withnail & I, like Clerks or Fear and Loathing, is a film to quote endlessly until you never, ever want to see it again.
  6. It's a total relief once they've healed. No more chewing on my own face! Probably should have gone for the general though. Probably shouldn't have gone out drinking until 3am before the op either lol. I'd still get the other side done. maybe.
  7. Icepack is your friend. Get it on ASAP (hopefully they'll give you one) to avoid the chipmunk blues.
  8. I blame the UTTERLY BEIGE conversation ruining this thread or I'd have checked for pea poasts. I hope you can live with yourselves.

    Pet Hates!

Exactly how many times did the batmobile catch a flat, anway?

A bit lacking in the sovereign independence department, maybe? Not entirely but we often get mistaken for England's hat.

beige. I mean, if we're not even a proper country then we can just make shit up entirely. New flag, new song. Some really awesome possibilities could be explored.

BTW, Scotland has no national anthem, and our ability to sing the provisional song suggest that this is no injustice.
  13. I bet he serves a nice bit of tongue. /thread
  14. Rubber a really strange film about the antics of a roaming killer tyre, with a captive audience. I'm not sure if it was amazingly lame or not but enthusing about it after watching it until 2am seems like too much effort, tbh.

Get an American style all in one comforter. You just wash the whole thing and there's no cover. Not sure if you can get high tog ones but for summer they're great.
  16. I like this one, it brings out the demonic undertones in the video.
  17. I have no problem with remakes, reboots or reimaginings as long as they bring something new and, above all, are actually any good. Unfortunately, that's rarely the case or the motivation for producing them. What is the point of making a live-action Akira in New York? It doesn't feel like a city that's about to explode. Tokyo, on the other hand...
  18. Maybe I like hummus. Needs bacon bits though, tbh.
  19. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the knobber, mad at those who surround me in trendy micro-brew bars as I lack the imagination, dare or drive to have stupid hair, clothes and a seemingly complete lack of self-awareness that I might be being a bit pretentious.
  20. That's hip? I thought it was preppy. Anyway, it's still full of knobbers. Nice place, and nice beer though,
  21. Quite old but so spot on.
  22. That's no moon...
  23. Yeah, 'cos it means your only political opposition will be a bunch of hippies and rival arms dealing nations. And by creating a legal basis, you can figure out where the grey areas lie which might aid your agenda. ie. bumping this prick Gadaffi in a convenient and defensibly accidental manner.
  24. American : The Bill Hicks Story which wasn't what I thought it was going to be, which would be the same as every other documentary on the guy I've seen. By animating it, for the most part, it avoids that trap and there's all the classic clips and footage I've never seen before. Plus it goes into his background, friendships and problems, some of which I was completely unaware of. And it got a couple of belly laughs outta me. RIP. Inside Job a slickly made account of how Wall St. captured the banking sector, government, economics profession and the taxpayer (of course) and how they're still there, leeching away, even under Obama. It's a bit depressing, tbh, but if you want to know what the solution is, you first have to size up the problem, I suppose.
