  1. Just saw Vessels is Glasgow and they were faaaantastic. Really brilliant musicians.
  2. I can't decide if this faintly homosexual Marionettes/Curators love-in is heart-warming or mildly disturbing...
  3. Cheers! We much enjoyed it, agree that the organisation and sound were spot on. As for Woomble, well, he played my favourite Wilco song. So I'm happy.
  4. I didn't know Jimmy Shand could attract such ire. Just look at him...
  5. My grand plan is for a social activity to do in the town centre. Somewhere to go with friends, or on a date, during the daytime hours. As it stands, the cinema and ten-pin powling have a monopoly on this, but the cinema is a thoroughly antisocial activity, and bowling is pretty much pish no matter how you dress it up. This activity has to require limited skill, have universal appeal and encourage amiable chatting. Just imagine, "hey James, we're heading off to *insert invention here*, you fancy it?" Ace. I have no idea what it'll be though,
  6. As I confidently predicted, this was well good! Sons o' the Soil and The Lorelei were great fun, talented musicians and quality guys to boot. That's the first time I've seen the full-band Panda Eyes and I really enjoyed them; so much better with the drummer, and the violinist really adds something. The last two songs were exceptional. How many were through the door, Calum?
  7. I've only had experience with the musical branch of Foyer, and they are all happy memories. They do a lot for young, developing bands in the city and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be playing/writing/recording music if it wasn't for everything I've learnt at the Foyer over the years. As I say, I have nothing but good things to say about Foyermusic and everyone associated with it. So what bad experience did you have? Or are you not going to tell us?
  8. This just reminds me that Henri Got Cancer is probably the best song to come out of Aberdeen ever.
  9. Define 'follow', though? Like Lucky Rathen was saying, he looks out for Everton results, but he couldn't actually give a shit if they win or lose. A large part of every football club is rooted in that village/town/city; the location, the history, everything. Scottish football isn't going to get any better if everyone watches the Premiership. A lot of Old Firm 'fans' and Man Yoo followers have no other reason to 'support' that team than they win lots. That's so soulless.
  10. Just got back from a rainy Dingwall. Lost 2-1 and played atrociously. You'll never guess who scored the winner...
  11. Yeah, De Rosa were awesome, one of the best live performances I've seen in a long time. Especially considering the major problems they had with the sound desk; credit to all the sound guys for getting that sorted out. Ace night. Hugely nice guys too. Haha, thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it.
  12. Alas, I got roped in to work at the last minute. My flatmates headed down though and said they enjoyed it, looked a good lineup. When's yer next Bloc gig? I'll get the time off work and come down.
  13. Tomorrow, folks. The new album is brilliant, I can't wait.
  14. I think it'd be funny because it was a terrible decision to field a weakened side in the UEFA cup, and one that is so far completely unjustified by their recent league form. They had a real shot at winning that cup with their strongest side, which would have got them into the Champions League anyway. It's a lack of ambition disguised as 'realism'. In addition, I don't really care if it's the same top four as last season. I watch MOTD pretty much every week for the decent football on offer, and in the hope Man Utd lose because they're a team choc-full of insufferable arseholes. League positions in what is essentially a foreign league don't really bother me. IOn a more general note, I hate when people talk about 'their' team be it ManUtd/Chelsea/Liverpool/whoever when they were born and raised in Aberdeen/Edinburgh/Glasgow/wherever and have no links to that club whatsoever other than them being a good team.Support a local team.Without coming over too SNP, I think Scottish football, regardless of its quality, is more relevant to Scottish people than the efforts of a team hundreds of miles away in a city you've been to twice. The same applies to the zillions are arseholes who 'support' the Old Firm when they were born and raised hundreds of miles away. Achhh.
  15. Yas, a mighty 4-1 win against Clyde. We could and should have scored a lot more, too. All we need is to miraculously stop being unbelievably awful at home and rack up a few wins. Who knows, in this mental league we might still have a half-chance at promotion.
  16. Commentators that refer to 'injury time' as 'extra time'. It's just not right.
  17. That it's a lot better than people make out. Seeing as Aberdeen is so far out of the way for a lot of touring bands, I think we do very well. The likes of IMP, Slanted & Enchanted/ Idolwild Promos, AGP and Nitrogen are so passionate about what they do and get some great acts up here. There are some cracking venues and a decent range of genres. Also, I think there are quite a few really good local bands and acts; Copy Haha, Little Kicks, My Minds Weapon, Kartta, Cast of the Capital and Debutant to name but a few. For the size and location of the city I think the 'scene' is good, good, good.
  18. It would be well funny if Villa didn't make 4th.

I think we're a decent side. The assumption that we're shite was probably why we won. We're still struggling to adapt to the 1st division, where we maybe try and play too much football and aren't physical enough, in the midfield particularly. Last night we were immense in defence, and did well to frustrate Aberdeen. e've got a number of SPL-quality players; Wilson, Gallacher, Glass, maybe Phinn and Woods these days. You seem to have an inflated opinion of your side - as Calum said earlier, a shock was always on the cards, especially with Tango and his novelty tactics. One-off results happen in football, I'm sure if you beat Hibs on Saturday it'll all be rosy in the garden again,.

Nipper Thomson played a blinder last night. What a man.

You'd probably see it differently if you supported a 1st division team. Or, if you had reached the cup final I'm sure you'd be quite happy to take a UEFA place next season. Regardless of its validity, the rule is there, everyone knows about it and it should be added incentive to get to the final. I find it quite amusing that people piss and moan about it; the beauty of cup competitions is that anyone is capable of getting to the final, that's the whole premise. It's hardly the fault of lower division clubs that the Old Firm hold a complete monopoly on the top two places in the league, leaving the cup runners up with a UEFA spot. The simple solution for you would be to beat the lower teams. If you can't manage that and you can't finish high enough in the SPL, then you don't deserve a spot in Europe. Simples.
