  1. Glad you guys liked the mention in the EE Also played a couple of tracks on my ASR show but I can't for the life of me remember which ones!
  2. Would be great if you could mail me a CD, I'll PM you my address. We might even be able to get a wee article up on Hercules Moments
  3. As suggested, I listened to the track in the right order and I quite like this. I do, however, however agree with Robert's thoughts on the swearing - it sounds a little unnatural and forced, however it doesn't affect the enjoyment of listening. Nice catchy guitar hooks and a lovely vocal line in Descent. Is this out on CD/download, or just recorded as a demo?
  4. Haha you should totally do the cassettes. They would either sell incredibly quickly, or would be sitting there for years like that one in the local compilations section in One Up... I forget what it's called.
  5. Might as well throw in my 2 pence. Quite a lot of albums this year that I really enjoyed and have listened to a lot. Albums of 2010 Arcade Fire - The Suburbs Broken Records - Let Me Come Home The Candle Thieves - Sunshine & Other Misfortunes Chickenhawk - Modern Bodies Foxy Shazam - Foxy Shazam Maps & Atlases - Perch Patchwork Meursault - All Creatures Will Make Merry The National - High Violet She & Him - Volume Two 65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyway Sparrow & the Workshop - Crystals Fall Steven Milne - Chasing Phantoms Three Blind Wolves - The Sound of the Storm Vampire Weekend - Contra EPs of 2010 Autumn in Disguise - See Me In Terror (SMIT) Carson Wells - Carson Wells Min Diesel - Din Measles 65daysofstatic - Heavy Sky
  6. Bigsby is right there actually, it could still work. Although Bandcamp pride themselves in offering different quality levels so that "audiophiles" can get their fix - someone might complain if they download the WAV format and it sounds like an mp3 But if you do decide to do it Alan, it's pretty simple I, for one, can't wait!
  7. Uni closes on the 17th December, so you'd have to be pretty sharpish. but if you give me a shout once they're there, I can get in touch with the Student radio DJs and ask them to mention it on air. Plus, any unsold ones can simply be taken back up to LBS. Were all the tracks sent to you in mp3 format, or higher quality? If higher quality, I'd be quite happy to go over the ins and outs of using Bandcamp/similar
  8. Good shout, students would snap this sort of thing up! Have you also thought about getting it online and selling it via Bandcamp or anything (assuming it's WAVs or FLACs artists have sent you and not mp3s)?
  9. Twas all an "elaborate hoax" Faith No More T in the Park rumours not true | Faith No More 2.0
  10. Thanks guys, glad you liked it A message to all the folks who contributed but weren't mentioned in the article: don't be disheartened! I seriously love all the tracks on the album, and it was very hard to narrow it down to just a handful to feature in the article. Aberdeen music has never sounded so great
  11. So far the Foos have been confirmed News Story
  12. The T in the Park 2011 headliners are being announced tomorrow. My mate just sent me this link (Index of /titp/2011xmas/images) to a GigsInScotland.com photo gallery, which seems to suggest Foo Fighters, Metallica and Faith No More. Some of the other images in the gallery can currently be found on the official TITP homepage. Is this a cleverly constructed hoax, or have we found out a day early? If it's true, then TITP looks like it could be very interesting next year. Either way, we shall find out tomorrow...
  13. Can't say the tracks I've heard so far excite me in any way, shape or form.
  14. It got to me fine this morning, the ink hadn't even run! (And thanks for my first Christmas card ) The review may possibly also be appearing in The Gaudie, and I'll put a wee bit in next week's EE column. Might even play a couple of tunes on the Christmas edition of my ASR show
  15. Yep, just had word from his PR people: all original tickets will, of course, still be valid for the gig when it is rescheduled. According to his blog, he's hoping for sometime in February.
  16. Review is online here Hercules Moments: 5 Cold Swings
  17. Haha brilliant, muchos appreciated. If it arrives on time, I'll get it in the EE on the 9th December (My deadline for the 2nd has already passed!)
  18. Still planning on sending out press copies? Or would you rather I bought one, to help finance the thing? (At 3 quid, I'm happy either way )
  19. Awesome - can't wait to get a review on Hercules Moments/preview in the EE
  20. Totally agree with the above comment - all 5 acts were phenomenal. Three Blind Wolves were stunning, and the rest formed a real showcase of the wealth of talent here in the Deen! Well done chaps
  21. I'm by no means the next Eric Clapton, but I can pluck away on the guitar strings fairly well. Without the ACC music service, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell I'd ever have gotten to play on the Music Hall stage in front of a packed captive audience. Or found myself playing Gershwin in the midst of jazz-lovers at the Lemon Tree. Or jammed with a jazz guitar group from the Faroe Islands. Okay, some people will say "that's a load of shit, the crowd was full of parents, no-one really cares". The usual grumbles. But that doesn't matter to me. It doesn't matter to the others in my guitar ensemble, or the jazz band and violin ensemble who played with us on numerous occasions. What matters is that we still remember those moments: we learned something, and they have stayed with us. I learned piano/keyboard through ACC music tuition from primary 3 through to 6th year; and guitar from primary 6 through to 6th year. I played in school concerts, and in Summerhill Education Centre music groups. I fell in love with new styles of music; it helped me build my confidence standing and performing in front of others; and above all, it was BRILLIANT fun. I'm only 19, but the thought of others out there not being given these opportunities is, to me, a great travesty.
  22. Put you guys in the EE today but didn't have a chance to come on here and tell you... hope you saw it!
