  1. At first it will be focusing on indie/rock/metal stuff as I profess to not being an expert on Snafu/Origin style DJing, or classical music. But over time, once I have built up a bit of knowledge, yes I'd like to encompass everything that's going on in the city. The other thing I should point out is that the column will focus solely on local artists, so no touring bands/singers/DJs/orchestras will be included, unless there's an Aberdeen support and I can sneak in a couple of liens about the headliners. (This was a condition of me getting the column.)
  2. Thank you all for your kind words. No pressure at all then...
  3. Sanderson's Throat Specific mixture - tastes like shit but I swear by it!
  4. If you could send me a promo copy (unless it's for charity in which case I'll purchase a copy in advance?), I can give this a wee plug in the Evening and on Hercules Moments? I also present a show on Aberdeen Student Radio, and we'll be doing a Christmas special, so I could give a couple of tracks some airplay too
  5. Have you tried the Blue Lamp? I know they get folk like Gerry Jablonski in, so I'm sure they would be a good shout.
  6. Might as well plug my own download again! 10 tracks representing Aberdeen's exciting music scene Hercules Moments: Hercules Moments: Vol. 1
  7. Thanks guys, sorry I realised I put it in the thread title but not in the actual post... it'll be the Evening Express, every Thursday
  8. Hey guys, I don't know about you, but I have always felt the local press - the P&J and Evening Express - have been lacking something over the past few years. That something is decent local music coverage, but all that will hopefully be about to change... After literally months of discussions, I am now pleased to announce that starting next week I will be writing a weekly column focusing exclusively on local musicians playing in Aberdeen. The column will generally be a look at what's happening over the coming week, and will also hopefully feature some wee reviews of local releases. Obviously, I am doing a lot of research for this. I am currently trawling sites like Aberdeen Events, The Kiosque, and this very forum, as well as emailing all the venues I can possibly think of. But, unfortunately, there are still some gigs and events that slip through the net, and here's the part where I ask for your help! If you've got something to shout about, send it on over to eoin@herculesmoments.co.uk (or post it in this thread, although email is more likely to get my attention). I might already know about it, but then again I might not. Also, there is no way at all that I could fit everything that happens in Aberdeen into my column every week (if only!) so please don't be offended if your release/gig/event doesn't make it in. I will be trying to represent the vibrancy and diversity of the Aberdeen music scene, but obviously it will take me a couple of weeks to get into my stride. For now, though, I better get back to writing... see you in the What's On pages next Thursday Eoin
  9. Hi guys, sorry to bump this thread back up the forum, but the sampler is out now!! Head on over to Hercules Moments: Hercules Moments: Vol. 1 to download it, and while you're there you can have a wee listen to an interview we did recently on Northsound One Cheers!
  10. Hello there, My name's Eoin and I'm co-owner of local music blog Hercules Moments (Hercules Moments). Later this month - the 18th of August to be precise - we will be releasing a free downloadable sampler on our website featuring 10 of the best bands in Aberdeen. (And yes, we know we missed off a few good bands, but who knows, there might be another one sometime in the future!!) The sampler, which we have imaginatively titled 'Hercules Moments: Vol. 1', boasts a range of styles from indie and pop-punk through to classic rock and blues, and features tracks from: Eskimo Blonde, Estrella, Only the Brave, FiveFifteen, Indian Red Lopez, Captain Face, Right Hand Left, The Hijacks, The Lorelei and Gerry Jablonski & the Electric Band. To celebrate the release, we're holding a bit of a launch party at Cafe Drummonds on the 18th starting at 8pm, which will feature exclusive acoustic performances by Right Hand Left, Eskimo Blonde, FiveFifteen and Only the Brave. We hope to see you there. If you come along, please do stop me and say hi - I'll be the one in the Hercules Moments t-shirt running around like a madman! Details can be found on our website, and on Facebook (Welcome to Facebook). Cheers, Eoin
  11. Haha, yes, I suppose I should have thought of that one!
  12. Hi there, Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum, but I'm faily new to these boards. I'm looking for contact details for the band Stanley regarding a project I'm working on. I spoke to Ramsay about ita couple of weeks ago in Bruce Millers, but I can't reach him, or any member of the band, via MySpace. I also can't find any band email addresses or any other contact details. If anyone can put me in touch, I'd very much appreciate it, as I need to speak to them asap. Thanks, Eoin Hercules Moments
