  1. Oh no! Not him again. I'd pity any woman getting involved with him - He was banned/moderated on another site after expressing some seriously disturbing attitudes towards women recently & for linking-up something that was tantamount to an admission of stalking.
  2. Brothers can be bought online. http://www.brotherscider.co.uk/our-home.cider
  3. Maybe good sense if you think about the amount of free advertising this has got them over the years.
  4. A pal in London was trying to talk me into going to that - I have to admit that the bill actually scared me! Each to their own tho. Have fun' date=' don't turn into a gnome! Dear. God. No! Nice & central for accomodation I suppose but the Bulldog & its ilk are like the Maccy-D's of coffeeshops, cheesy & usually rammed with the sort of braying-idiot tourist you really don't want to meet. Get yourself out on the Leidesplein & explore some of the streets around there - plenty of excellent independants. KLM Cityhoppers from London City Airport are also worth checking-out for price.
  5. Nope, not going to happen. That was just some right-wing politician stirring-it & taking advantage of German politicians doing similar. About all that happened is that some coffeeshops in border towns got a bit more careful about ID & selling to groups etc. Worth remembering that these days, coffeeshops all across Holland are a lot more careful about ID/buying for other people than they used to be.
  6. You must live a sheltered life!
  7. Depends on the police. If it is the local-force guys in green, you are quite OK but the paramillitary Queens Police are a very different matter & can be a law unto themselves. They wear the black uniforms/body armour & look not unlike our own plod, carry sub-machineguns & drive Porsches/top model BMWs. Don't mess with them at all! Usually tho, you only see them around the ports/autoroutes/govt buildings but occasionally you find them doing sweeps of street dealers in the RLD or on "political" duties like clearing squats etc.
  8. Some good places in Waterlooplein. Nice & not expensive, also the Winston is popular with my lot. A very cool place, not overpriced & with very original room-designs - sorry about the website! http://www.winston.nl/ This place is right in the middle of things so can be a bit noisy but it even has its own curry-house! http://www.hotelvijaya.com/anasayfa.php If you want cheaper hostel type accomodation, StayOK & the Flying Pig up by the Vondelpark are good, cheap & outside the crudzone http://www.stayokay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Herbergen.showHomeHB&lng=2&id=3 Just in case you are not going there for Van Gough, tulips & cloggs, there is of course this place! http://www.hemp-hotel.com/
  9. Our capacity to exploit & destroy & learn, also gives us a greater adaptability & capacity to change our behaviour in a way that other species can't.
  10. Couldn't care less - There dosen't seem to be any great concern about his political conduct so how he gets his kicks is entirely his own buisness. Also, playing a part in running a country must surely entitle you to a few perks!
  11. Very sad. A great but ultimately very troubled man.
  12. That would make an attack of the munchies a truly scary experience for us tho! Burrrrrrrp! 8o
  13. Its a valid point tho. Those birds are natures opportunists & have adapted to living of the stuff we carelessly chuck about.
  14. Where shitehawks & even Grey Squirells are concerned, I'm not bothered. Otherwise, I'm a very environment & wildlife-oriented person.
  15. As well as that - which is to some degree reversable as fish stocks replenish, we have also created a whole lot of attractive roost sites (eg, B&Q at Garthdee, almost every heated flat-roofed building in town) & access to new & easier food sources - ie our waste. Ooen rubbish tips, binbags & food strewn all over the place has made it very attractive for them to come onshore & inland. Even in my own lifetime, I can remember times when you would hardly see a gull much more than a few miles away from the coast.
  16. Tip from my misspent youth - Use calcium carbide instead!
  17. 7000? I'd hazzard a guess that that might be a significant underestimate, or mabye an estimate of only one of the species classed as "seagulls". Not that long ago, the JNCC was reporting colonies of up to @10,000 Black-back Gulls alone in this part of the world. OH, & Aberdeen is the one place in the UK to buck the overall decline in seabird numbers - instead we have seen a considerable rise in recent years.
