  1. Went up to watch the 1st round Scottish cup tie between Culter and Burntisland Shipyard and I must say it was a welcome bit of respite from following Aberdeen (although I had the commentary on the old wireless :().

Culter won 4-0, although it could have been 6 or 7. Burntisland had 2 players sent off late on.

All in all, a decent, entertaining game.

    Roll on round 2! :D

I popped along too, 2 pretty poor teams but Culter were by far the better side.

The headcase Burntisland fans next to me were worth the £6 entry alone.....

  2. Well, he was right to be optimistic and they deserved to go through.

Haha, indeed! Said gent should be in Dundee now enjoying a tin or six.

I've seen some pretty stinking Aibrrrdeen teams on my visits in the past (Pele Paterson's 2003/04 outfit in particular) but that lot take the cake, only very occasional glimpses of talent and just no confidence at all. Getting that late penalty (never was IMO) just prolonged the pain to be honest....

Edited to add: EF's third was a beaut....

  3. I have a bed for tonight and tomorrow. After that it's all a bit uncertain.

Ten euros says you'll be pimping your arse out for hire down El Raval way by week's end.

I jest! Good luck to you, I gave up on the russian roulette of flat mates five years ago after one of the last people I shared with did a moonlight flit 24 hours after changing the utilities into my name and having defaulted on 3 months rent. Unlucky for him that a friend at the time worked for a tracing agency and found him in a drug den with a massive pile of £50 notes under the floorboard.

Back on topic: Embarrasing Bodies coming up on a channel hop whilst eating. Fucking BOKE.

  4. I'm supposed to be going to Shittodrie with an EF-supporting mate tomorrow night. He was very optimistic, considering how badly his lot have been buggered on the last two visits.

Saw Montrose predictably toss away a 2-1 lead in the pissing rain on Saturday. My first winning coupon of the season was a welcome sight at full time after that one....

  5. Much better performance last night (until the last 10 mins anyway), passing was much better but I fear that if Levein persists with one up front for the next two games then we won't create as many chances. This is what I hate about Scotland - it's the element of hope being dragged out until the last minute before the house crashes in.....

  6. Is dartitis the darts version of the yips in golf?

Pretty much. The advice I've been given is to try and play through it, was certainly throwing a bit better over the weekend, although my finishing was still quite hopeless....

  7. Ach well, at least we have a decent group draw for the World Cup! Oh, hang on......

Performance on Saturday was not much to shout about, I thought the passing was particularly poor and needs sorted for tomorrow night, or Lithuania could well turn us over....

  8. Rest assured it is a more worthy use of your time than poker right now...

Haha, probably. Was fine in my doubles game, but then I totally froze up come the singles. It's not chronic dartitis as in being totally unable to let the dart go, but struggling to let go at the right time, which isn't a whole lot better. And to add insult to injury: this season there's 50p fines for every score of 9 or less in non-checkout play, I chalked up three in one night.

    (At least we won....)

  9. I personally value the average SPL match at around a tenner. Twenty-odd quid is just unreal for an SPL game.

Arbroath were charging 12 quid last year to watch third division football, such is the level things have got to. Elgin and Annan are the only places you can watch league football for under a tenner.

The prices are pretty much an irresistible force as you see towns like Dumfries having to charge the diehards more because of all the OF gloryhunters empty out of the place in supporters buses every Saturday.

  10. Massive LOL to the Old Scum tonight, glad they and those smug arse-licking Daily Record journos and the like won't be getting any foreign japery this year. Fuck 'em.

SPL just became a two horse race yet again though. Joke league? Yup.....

  11. The first ever gig you ever attended. - Divine Comedy at the Lemon Tree. 1999, I think.

The best ever gig you ever attended. - Paul Buchanan at the Music Hall a few years ago. Was five rows from the front but felt like the only person in the venue. Milky tears of joy, that night.

The worst ever gig you ever attended. - Alcohol dims the memory but it was probably a non-descript shitey metal local gig when I lived in Aiibrrdeen and was going to loads of 'em. Most disappointing 'big' band I saw was Paradise Lost at Bloodstock 2003, I expected them to be really good but they had an absolute shocker, and the audience turned on them, making it worse......

The first ever gig you ever played. - Maiden Taiwan at the SLH in Laurencekirk. 2002. We did 3/4 songs IIRC, and we were beyond rubbish.

The best ever gig you ever played. - Any of the Elgin gigs with SPD/WB. It's like a great football away day, except even more unhinged and with better banter. If Donnie is still doing them and you get offered one, dae it.

The worst ever gig you ever played. - Loads, but the standout was an Ascension gig at the Tunnels with Mind My Weapon at the height of our online 'japery'. I couldn't really be arsed with the gig and went to the pub to watch the Milan derby and enjoy a couple of pints of Guinness. This rapidly became four, six, eight, possibly more, followed by half a bottle of OVD. I don't actually remember playing that night, only waking up the morning after in a pool of black stouty sick. It was bound to have been horrid.

  12. Is Scottish football in some sort of crisis at the mo?

    Nah, just terminal decline!

I hope Neil Doncaster and co were watching some of their 'quality products' getting gangraped/upstaged this evening and realise where our level of ambition should actually be....

  13. Holy Aberdeen Football Club. *shakes head*

I stuck 20 quid on Hearts pre-match, PLEASING.

Went to Links Park this arvo after the cricket got cannned, also very pleasing! Elgin aren't quite as bad as a 3-0 cuffing says, but were horribly wasteful in front of goal today.

    Result from TFS: not pleasing.....
