  1. stu maxwell was playing a kitchen cynics song in moshulu last night, it was cracking!
  2. for the local scene to develop we need top notch bands coming to abdn to inspire people, promoters like interesting music\drakes/arkade etc put their hands into THEIR pockets to finance these creative and inspiring bands that other promoters wouldnt take the risk on aberdeen music radio sounds like a silly idea, dodgy sounding demos of crap local bands doesnt inspire me at all. as per usual people are jumping on the bandwagon of "yeah that snds great" but just like everything else (chairty gig etc), the support will fade once the novelty has worn off perhaps abdn music should use the money more wisely? suggestions are a wonderful thing
  3. agreed, the promoters who are keeping this scene alive should benefit from a free forum!
  4. Been going to a lot more gigs this year and ive been really impressed with all aspects of the scene. There are an increasing amount of varied local bands surfacing and the gigs down at the tunnels with touring bands have been awesome. Thumbs up to Sharon , Stu maxwell and the rest of the Arkade/Drakes team. Those involved with go north deserve a pat on the back in bringing a free festival and level of recognition to the area. Without the foyer , exile , captain toms and key venues such as the tunnels, kef, drummons, snafu ect, its fair to say that there would be no scene at all. This may all seem like common sense but I just think there is reason to say well done to all involved in our music scene which is flourishing at this point in time. Ollie.
  5. fantastic gig, great bands. Spike werent half bad but the videos stole it for me. A lot of credit should go to the hard work Mark Nicol has put in down at exile for both Aka and Videos. Sharon Lyndsey...the karen O of the aberdeen scene music scene, definetely! Love those screams and synths. Tunnels tonite for some dark emo pop from the turning 13 lads ! Cant wait hoo woo~
  6. I wont be there, got a band practise 2-4. However Zippy and Stu will be holding the fort this time.
  7. Octavia could hold a decent tune, my minds weapon were shit, alamos were the best band i saw by miles, fighting with wire on wednesday were ok but the distortion was ear peircing. My latest novel were pretty good to finish things off and I agree with what zippy said when he described the endrick brothers in the wild boar as similar to REM and teenage fanclub, they played some good pop!
  8. whens the two hours for three deal? , cheers.
  9. callum is a hunchback and jeff is the ron jeremy of emo. Love it.
  10. that was a great gig. Dedalus lacked dave but what the hell they still did amazing. Copy ha hao hohe ho eh ehoo were really bloody good as well. I love when the bassist goes nuts on the drum. I like that song they do, the one on the cd where it kinda stops and shit , quality! Anyway id say copy ha ho are Aberdeens best at the mo. Thee comrades, nit.
  11. weather is looking crap again today but hopefully be sunnny for saturday. 3pm , the usual place at seaton park. See you there.

  14. i dunno like. some lassies suit it.
  15. well thats me screwed...im balding, though it kinda suits me, fuck hair.
  16. i reckon the media have a big part to play. Before it was just women that were told that looking like a catwalk model was essential. Now companies are targeting men. Walking into any night club, whethar it be exodus, moshulu, priory, espionage i think its the norm to be 'metrosexual'. Personally I dont have a problem with it cos people can express themselves however they like. However i think if you look a bit different, ( or in other words minus the funky hair, minus the tight , stripey tshirt and tight fashionable jeans/trousers, minus the blazer) youre made to feel insuperior and inadequate. I wouldnt say that its gay to look like this but i think theres a blurring of boundaries concerning what it now means to be male. Taking care of your looks was traditionally a feminine quality but now taking care of your looks has become an increasing male notion. I have to say that i do feel pressure to conform to the expectations that society places on my age group but to be honest im nae the kinda person that follows a trend . ta.
