My taste is maybe not as varied as some people's but I listen to a bit of metal, alternative, punk, electronic, as well as some 'oddballs' such as captain beefheart and ivor cutler.

They WILL be inferior versions. The psp is less technically accomplished than the ps2, so the games will not look or sound so good. Plus less capacity on umd than on dvd discs.

Who wants one big screen, when all that will appear on it will be inferior versions of recent ps2 games, sold at a higher price?

Besides Nintendo never meant the ds to be in direct competition with the psp. the D.S. is meant to be another platform to sit alongside the current generation of machines, with the emphisis on the different way of playing games via the touch screen. The psp will be better technically, but I think the ds will be more succesfull thanks to the good price of it, the overwhelming third party develpoers support, and nintendo's experience in the handheld market.

The psp has a number of issues attached to it, even this early in it's lifespan. Firstly a number of the units have the problem of not having anything to secure the umd discs in with, so when you tip it upside down the disc falls straight out! The battery life is dodgy at best. The energy consumption varies depending how often the machine acesses the umd. So although you may get 5 hours if playing a non graphic intense game, if watching a film you will get a reported 2 hours max. Basicaly that fucks up any notion of watching godfather on the go!! Loading times are also a concern, with all the reviews of the graphicly basic darkstalkers (street fighter with ghoulies), critisising the 20 second waits inbetween fights, as the umd loads in the next one. Perhaps the sony head honcho summed it up best when he said that most people will play it at home, so battery life is not a concern. In other words the playstaion 2!!!!!

Gollywogs were cool. Neither me or my sister found it to be a racist thing. As far as we were concerned they were just amusing little guys who liked to dress up. The world is going crazy.

Is it still ok? Believe it or not dreamcasts have a hardware fault too. After a while a lot of them seem to develop a re-setting fault. They will constently go to the opening dreamcast screen when software is loaded into them. It's most annoying.

A scratch WILL make a difference. San Andreas has more info than any other ps2 game ever made, and as a result has to access the disc more often. Ps2 lasers do not have great scratch compensation whilst reading them. On an xbox it wouldn't make such a difference, but on a ps2 it will.

Multiple things you can do. If your ps2 is dusty take a hoover to the fan. Crude but effective. If it is under 1 year old, phone sony as it will be under warrenty. If it is just san andreas that it has trouble reading, then as someone suggested, check the disc. If it is other discs as well then it is beggered.
