The girl with all the gifts - halfway through, and enjoying it so far. I've heard mixed reviews, some saying it's boring others saying they were hooked. I do enjoy a good zombie/dystopian future novel hence my love for Philip K Dick (please don't shorten that to "love for dick" in a quote... I know what you lot are like) Any recommendations along these lines?

I find a lot of male fantasy writers are like this, apologies for the sweeping generalisation - I've given up on a lot of books because of it, I lose interest far too quickly. Teenage fiction seems to be better because it's not so long winded but there's a good story at the heart of it. I like Trudi Canavan as she seems to be more "to the point", and stories don't drag on.

Being woken up in the middle of the night by road works/industrial works of any kind. I'm not sure if it's from the Third Don Crossing or the railway maintenance, but hearing a wood chipper from 2am is pretty irritating.

I wonder how many people give in and eat chocolate/whatever they've given up for Lent once drunk

Don't want to put off people who actually have something relevant to say. Most of my rage probably comes from the fact that I'm absolutely awful at small talk, I would have been an awful hairdresser...

Ha I know, they just creep about the place and it's really freaking me out - reminds me of the slimey manager from Human Traffic, and it's making me ranty.

People who are in the same small office as you, but still have to walk over to your desk, wait for you to stop what you're doing and turn to speak to them - I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY TO YOU, OURS JOBS ARE NOT RELATED! Fuck off, it's creepy! Even worse when they whisper and we're the only two people here! It's happened 4 times today already and it's just to make a pointless statement or an attempt at gossip. AAAAARGH. I am ranty.

My granda is a heavy smoker, and struggled when a flight was delayed because he couldn't go outside for a cigarette. To help for future holidays, my gran asked me to pick up a vaporizer for him to try out. He loves it, and he doesn't feel that he's actually quit - he still has the odd cigarette but his use has drastically reduced.

We had the xbox one set up as UK netflix, and the xbox 360 as the US version On my laptop, internet explorer (ugh) goes to the UK netflix and chrome has Hola set up for US version. The only pain being that watching tv series with Hola means the next episode doesn't automatically load.

People who clearly see you are on your lunch, yet still see it as okay to interrupt. Even better when it's something that is in no way urgent, and could simply be emailed through. (you're not allowed to sit in the canteen if you bring your own lunch, and my office doesn't have a designated lunch area so have to sit at my desk)

The Keep - an 80s horror flick about Nazi's and unleashing some demon. Utter pish - you are constantly asking yourself "what the hell is happening?". I gave in and looked it up online halfway through, and turns out even the author of the book thought the film was a train-wreck.

One wifey uses the pulp to make veggie burgers/patties this was before she got the nutribullet and was obsessed with kale.

I simply don't buy it, if it's in the house then I will give in. My bad habit is diluting juice though, so I'll go back to juicing lemons and limes to add flavour. It doesn't help that I'm super thirsty just now, so I'm probably drinking more of it than I used to. I got really pissed off when the nurse suggested switching almonds for cashews - I know they're just trying to help but my having almonds rather than cashews isn't THE reason why I'm not losing weight. I went through my whole diet and what I was doing at the gym and she didn't know what else to say. I do bake goodies, but I don't have the same taste for it now. It's more for the enjoyment of others getting a treat. *grumble grumble moan mump*

Jumping in, but which city centre venues would people recommend for a reception? I've asked my chums band to play, since they cover all the bands we like and they are all lovely guys. There would be oldies attending, so need somewhere easily accessible. If you've been to any receptions that had a good atmosphere/layout, let me know

I watched that too (thanks Netflix!), wonderfully quirky. I really liked at the end when they explain that "nothing happened", he just has a mental health condition - no "oh he had a traumatic childhood experience", it was a real life explanation

I'm good and have a low calorie, savoury breakfast so I don't have sugar cravings later in the day. I rarely drink fizzy juice, and eat mostly veg since fruit is full of sugar. My cholesterol is really low, and I use MyFitnessPal app to track my calories. My dr was a bit baffled why I wasn't losing weight, even though I track my gym visits and just put it down to my thyroid. It's just really pissing off, and those juicing/fasting diets aren't good for you long term with most people ending up back on their medication. We'll just need to look at my diet, and compensate. Apparently it's pretty common in those with under-active thyroids, I just wasn't told at the time.

Not yet, it seems that STA might be coming into its own now than they have their own Tealc (Ronon).

Nearing the end of season 5 of Sons of Anarchy, it just seems to have blown up and become violence for the sake of it. I gave in and IMDB'ed the remaining, really not liking where it's heading so that's me done with it. Really looking forward to more Blacklist. We've started Stargate Atlantis - it's iffy in parts.

MIM was the cocktail bar next to The Office, I think it closed when the owner became a dad and wanted a job with regular hours.

Turns out Sport Aberdeen don't let you book badminton courts until 3 days prior, unless you're a member. My chum and I are both at PureGym, and the other centers on the list given are too far for us to easily get to (we don't live near each other and neither drives). Oh well, bum.
