They detected electromagnetic readings coming from the island. So yes, they were researching the island I think, haha!

The Island apparently. Desmond (the Scottish guy) shows Locke an old cine-reel training video type thing which has one of the main research folk in it.

There's a Scottish guy living inside it. He has to enter a series of numbers (Hurleys lotto numbers) into a computer every 108 minutes or something happens (don't know what).

I hope Lost doesn't turn out like the X-Files, plot wise. The writers of TXF kept adding new twists for so long, that when it came time to wrap up the show, a lot of things contradicted each other and didn't make sense!

That freckles, is correct! Wait until you get up to episode 9 though - the cliffhanger on that one is a right motherfucker!

If you go back and watch the scene with Eko dealing with the two guys about the heroin, when they talk to each other in arabic, one of them mentions Sayid. So I reckon he's connected somehow. Also, if you pause the scene where Eko and the smoke are staring at eachother, the part where the camera passes through the smoke - you see images of his past! Not really a theory but a really cool part!
